The movie I cried most of ever in my life was the 1994 version of Black Beauty. I was an absolute mess. That was one happy/sad movie that I´ve ever seen.

Anyone who has seen the movie version of Le Miz: is it worth it vs. the play? The music was just so powerful in the play, I´ve thought it wouldn´t transfer very well.

Because I do hear the people sing.

Just saw this movie and I had two thoughts. This is not a date movie, my two friends and I came out of the theater with red eyes and noses and looked a wreck. The second thought is that I will never see that movie again and you could not pay me to sit through it again. The first part of the play is soul poisoning. Just a complete nightmare. The rest of the movie proceeds on along the lines of Hugo´s book, but at the end, I did not leave the theater feeling uplifted, I just felt (and looked, see above)like a train wreck. I ordered the book on Amazon, on the Kindle, and started reading. In school I read an abbreviated version of Les Miserables and was filled with a positive feeling and fascinated with the turmoil between evil and good and the grace of God. Re-reading the book brought me back to that. For some reason, the movie made me suffer.

I cried at the end of Liam Neeson´s survival pic, The Grey.

I have you all beat! I cry at commercials!

My all-time weeper is an old foreign (Spanish/Italian) Catholic movie, "Marcelino." Beautiful movie. Cried as a child, cry even now.

Wow! Apparently all previous posters are genetically related to Speaker Boner. How sad.

I cry at the scene in "The 13th Warrior" where they look at the hordes about to overwhelm them, and they *know* they´re all going to die, and they begin chanting their death chant:

Buliwyf (Beowulf): "´Lo, There do see my father..."

Others, joining in: "´Lo, There do I see my mother and my sisters and my brothers..."

"...´Lo, There do I see the line of my people, back to the beginning..."

"...´Lo, They do call to me..."

"...They bid me take my place, among them..."

"...In the Halls of Valhalla..."

Ibn (Banderas): "...Where the brave may live...Forever."

And they go forth to die.

Heck, I got a little sniffly when I pulled the DVD down and skipped to the scene to ensure I got the words right.

OK, #2, let me give you the takeaway: Anne Hathaway - Geez! She is that good??!! Helen Bonham Carter - I didn´t even recognize her; did a good job in a ´where´s the best female ham in town´ part (reprise Belatrix with a wicked sense of humor); Sacha Cohen - ditto Carter; Russell Crowe - OK job, did a decent (not great) job on ´Stars´ - I´m seeing Crowe doing Patrick Stewart, though; Hugh Jackman - OMG! Who told this guy he could sing??? It´s like hearing Randy Travis as a tenor trying to sing opera! Acting: Great. Singing: Killed the show. Dude, you can´t do a Rex Harrison on ´Bring Him Home! You kept hoping he would be better in the ´next´ song. Acted the part great, though - if you are tone deaf; Also, you realize at some point that the producers recognized immediately that Eddie Redmayne and Aaron Tveit should switch roles, but by then they´d gone too far; actually, after an hour, you just kind of accept that no male leads will be able to carry a tune and wait for "Master of the House" reprise.

I saw "Passion of the Christ" on Good Friday in Mississippi the year it was released in the theatre. I was a sobbing wreck at the end. Most of the theatre was in the same boat.

I also cried at the end of "We Were Soldiers.". The hymn that they play during the credits, "Mansions of The Lord," is gut wrenching!!!

10, I had not seen the movie, never heard of it even, til I heard ´Mansions of the Lord´ at Pres. Reagan´s funeral. I´ve never heard a more beautiful song - EVER. And I´ve sung a whole BUNCH of them. If you´ve never heard it, find it on youtube. It has to be there somewhere.

Saw the movie last week. I´ve seen Les Miz in theater 3 times. Seen several movie adaptations of Hugo´s book & am still trying to get through the book itself. Holy Hannah! He spends the first quarter of it discussing the bishop before Jean val Jean ever visits him or is even mentioned.

What I appreciated about this musical film adaptation was the way the actors were allowed to talk/whisper/shout/sing their songs. The acting was by far the best dramatic acting I´ve seen on film in any movie -- ever. And being done in song. The result is epic. And the cinematography is outstanding. Every scene is like a Renaissance painting.

What disappointed me: Russel Crowe was the weakest link. He was awful! Even guys calling in on our local "Sports Animal´ radio show here in OKC railed on how bad he ruined the movie. Sasha Cohen & Helen Bonham Carter did a completely different type of villainous couple. More like Bonnie & Clyde scammers. Less comedic & more creepy. The "Master of the House" routine no longer gave comedic relief but more angst & stress, while staying in close-up mode. Their visit at end at the wedding is cut to mere seconds & a verse is left out when they´re bargaining for Cosette.

The acting of most of the cast, especially Jackman, Hathaway & Redmayne was unbelievable. I predict Oscars for the former two, as they altered their weight/health for their roles. That always gets rewarded in Hollywood. Although Fields did it in Lincoln, too, so she´s a dark horse.

I just re-watched the ´Mansions of the Lord´ part of Reagan´s funeral. Good Lord, I´m crying now. It is like seeing America´s funeral.

I saw the movie just after Christmas, and I´m reading the novel right now.
The weakest link in the movie is definitely Russell Crowe--he does not have a strong singing voice. Anne Hathaway´s "I Dreamed a Dream" is nothing short of amazing.
The movie´s ending took me completely by surprise--but it works.
The novel is about 1500 pages. Authors were paid by the word back then, and Hugo worked on it for 16 years before it was published in 1862. He spends a lot of time sorting through the last 75 years of French history--why the French Revolution failed, why Napoleon failed, why his grandson restored the throne and failed, and what it all means.
We modern readers know the American Revolution really and truly changed the world. The French Revolution did not.
Still, it amazes me that Pres. Lincoln was in the White House when ´Les Miserables´was published.

I cry every time I see ET, at the point where they find ET lying in the ditch. Also, at The Passion of the Christ, I could barely get out of my seat at the end - that distraught and exhausted.

Not sure if I´ll go see Les Mis. Hated the book. But I am going to see The Hobbit this week for the second time. I want to retire at Bag End. I wish that the architectural plans for Bilbo´s house were available from Peter Jackson. I would build it here on my small farm.
