| A new shot has been fired in the battle in Concord over the plastic water bottle ban, with opponents now vowing to repeal the controversial law — considered the first of its kind in the nation — that went into effect Tuesday. “People should have the freedom to buy a legal product in the town they live in,” contends Robin Garrison, who has spearheaded a group called Concord Residents for Consumer Choice that hopes to bring single-serve plastic water bottles under 1 liter back to stores in town. “It should not be outlawed.”

Everyone should have a minimum 2 week supply of food and water in the event of an emergency.
I have cases of bottled water and food storage, and continue to add to it.
In Concord, they can stand in line and wait for FEMA, I guess.

How can a LAW be passed without proof, because I guarantee you, there are NOT floating plastic islands.

I think people are crazy to spend money on bottled water unless it´s an occasional true mineral water with dinner, but I sympathize with the old woman in a way. I doubt there are any "floating islands" of bottles, but people these days are slobs and just throw their bottles anywhere, and I assume they take forever to disintegrate. Maybe there should simply be a $1 deposit required on bottles of any kind, glass or plastic. That would help insure they wouldn´t turn up on the roadside or be left on the beach. When I was a little boy and could get a couple of cents back from A&P for bottles believe me I kept my neighborhood picked clean.

RUSH: Folks, I don´t know how else to categorize this. We are living in a dying country. I don´t know how else to categorize what´s happening -- 88,000 new jobs. The unemployment rate, because of a terrible statistic, is down to 7.6%. The number of people in this country who are not working is shameful. Ninety million Americans are no longer in the workforce. Ninety million. People not in the labor force grew by 663,000, and now 90 million. That´s the labor force participation rate. This is 1979 levels.
