Ex-Burglars Say Newspaper’s

Reformed crooks say the New York newspaper that published a map of names and addresses of gun owners did a great service – to their old cronies in the burglary trade. The information published online by the Journal-News, a daily paper serving the New York suburbs of Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties, could be highly useful to thieves in two ways, former burglars told FoxNews.com. Crooks looking to avoid getting shot now know which targets are soft and those who need weapons know where they can steal them. “That was the most asinine article I’ve ever seen,” said Walter T. Me too. Anyone that is robbed in the area should sue the paper.

What happened to the woman that they published her name and address in order to get even when this first appeared in the paper ?

Bankruptcy and lawsuits are the only limits arrogant Leftist journal-twits understand. With hellbent Leftists likes these, it´s their very Godlessness that allows them to think they have the right to do as they please. Time for a really good smack-down for these jerks, either legally or financially. For starters, who are their advertisers? Time to get in touch with these advertisers, me thinks.

If you´d like to contact the publisher, her name is Janet Hasson.

Janet Hasson lives in a $1.4 Million-dollar house. Her address is 3 Gate House Lane, Mamaroneck, NY 10534. She is obviously unarmed.

If you´d like to stop by, here is a link to interior and exterior pictures of her house. (Don´t want you knocking on the wrong door!)

Here you have people trying to do the right thing and register their guns, only to be sabotaged by some maniacal left wing anti-gun zealot with too much time and money on her hands.Everybody in these counties are at some level of elevated risk now.

The left wants to shame, embarrass or bully people into complying with their upside down rules of the road.

The only thing that could make this hole in the wall paper any worse is if they´re taxpayer financed.

I call BS!

Filing a gun purchase application doesn´t mean a person actually purchased a gun.

If permit applicants names are publicized, the application is like the "This Home Protected By ... " burglar alarm system stickers you can buy to paste on your front door. Cheap insurance.

From a potential criminal´s point of view, there´s no way to know if the homeowner already had weapons, and didn´t need to get a permit.

Any criminals not able to figure this out will get what they deserve.

If anything, posting in public those houses that have guns, makes them safer from break in.
If I did not have a gun permit I would be worried that my name was not published.
The publishing will have exactly the opposite effect the anti gun folks wanted.

Two can play that game. Let´s go ahead and publish the names, phone numbers, email addresses, and residence addresses of the news media people (newspaper, radio, television, and internet) and top it off with publishing the same information for elected public officials (Past and Present), law enforcement, union bosses...where do we stop?

Reply 22 - Posted by: govlawyer, 1/5/2013 8:40:04 AM     (No. 9099843)

NY is not like most of the US when it comes to handguns or firearms in general.

The permitees identified on the map are people who have a pistol permit--it is not a list of people with purchase documents, since you can´t get a pistol purchase document without being licensed to possess a handgun in the first place.

While it´s true you don´t have to purchase a handgun once you obtain a purchase document, the fact is you have to buy the document from the issuing authority, so one usually pays for and leaves the pistol, goes to the PD to get the doc and then returns and picks up the pistol.

They will not release the pistol to you without it, as the document is then altered by the gun shop to be specific to the serial number of the handgun, and it serves as your license to possess the handgun until you return to the licensing agency with it and the handgun to be formally added to your permit.

If you possess a handgun in NY that is not on your permit, you´re guilty of a crime, (just like David Gregory).

Long guns don´t need a permit.

I just love NY, the liberal sinkhole I live in.

I am always amused at how fast urban liberals lose their bias towards gun control after they move to their rural paradise where it can take the cops over an hour to respond to a 911 call. Unfortunately most never consider the same response time too often applies to the inner cities in the municipalities they came from.

Reply 26 - Posted by: cake crumb, 1/5/2013 9:57:42 AM     (No. 9099984)

IMO,the SCOTUS decision on Lawrence vs. the State of Texas needs to be overturned immediately: if the perps at the Journal aren´t arrested and charged, there IS no right to privacy to protect. The cop was right all along and the gay guy was guilty. In fact, all laws pertaining in any way whatever, to personal privacy, must be scuttled immediately.

This folks, is called a slippery slope.

Once the gun owners´ names and addresses are published, the left´s logic will be that since gun thieves may now target those homes, the guns should be confiscated to keep them out of the hands of criminals.

Way back years ago my Dad gave me a gun - a revolver and I lived in NY and asked the sheriff what I should do to get a license, he took my info and he walked it through the process and the judge who was also a Pubbie signed it and then we went out and had coffee. Actually, back then, no one cared whether you had a gun or not. It is still none of their business - newspaper should be treated to a blitz of toy rifle and pistol gifts.

Did you folks hear Mark Levin yesterday? He discussed the bill of rights in the constitution saying it was there to protect the citizens from a tyrannical government and pointing out that this applies to the second amendment. The right to bear arms was put there as a last resort so that citizens can protect themselves from a tyrannical government. We are getting there with all branches of government which should check each others power being corrupted by the same statists. This is the same reason that communist governments always try to confiscate guns - they want the individual to be defenceless! Many jurisdictions don´t even let an old person have pepper spray for self defence!

Yep, 22 is right. *Long guns don´t need a permit*. Just need a nice little light shotgun which shoots both shot and shell and holds three loads of either. Go out of NY to some sane State and get one for a little over hundred and fifty bucks. Get some ammo while there.
And, by the way, you don´t have to go through months of elaborate target practice to become a seasoned shooter. You don´t need to place your little shotgun up against your shoulder and squint at the target which is coming at you, hoping you´ll hit your target. No, indeed. Just hold your little shotgun tight against your side, on your hip, like Clint Eastwood would do. Then blast away. No target practice necessary because you will hit anything in front of you. Go for it New Yorkers. New York will rise again.

This morning I met up with some like-minded friends for breakfast at IHOP then we walked across the street to the month gun show. The line was close to 500 and they hadn´t even opened the doors yet.

Of course, this is in Texas. But still. So we decided to go to a local gun store instead.

Last week while in a large national chain Sporting Goods store I walked over to the gun section. There was only one guy behind the counter but he had four people filling out purchase forms. No way I was going to take a look at one of the pistols on display for quite a while so I just left.

My point? They can do whatever they want to try and ´control´ guns. What they need to understand is that we, as Americans, will not submit. They can come with whatever force they want with whatever ´law´ our inept, corrupt Congress passed. But we will not submit.

When the second amendment was passed, a very common long gun in the hands of the citizenry was the Kentucky (or Pennsylvania) Long Rifle. It was vastly superior to the Brown Bess muskets used by the British Army at the time. Based on that fact, I see no reason for the citizenry of today to own an AR-15.

Don´t wait to be robbed, every person whose name and address was published by the paper should file suit for intentional infliction of emotional distress. We all know the real reason the paper published that information was to try and embarrass people. Intentional infliction of emotional distress is an intentional tort and therefore the injured party can recovery punitive damages.

#32, Drudge is linking to that Fox article. As you say, there are thousands of NYPD active and retired in Rockland, and many more in Westchester, where the newspaper also published gun owners. In Putnam, where the County Clerk is refusing to release the information, there are also many active and retired law enforcement. They can´t be happy about this, since criminals with a bent for revenge now have their addresses.

In Nassau County (another suburb of NYC), a few years back, the county placed real estate records on line, searchable by name, showing addresses, home photos, and floor plans. Police officers and public personalities were enraged, and the county was forced to change the way records are listed.

I will be surprised if the same thing doesn´t happen here.

If I had the money, I would take out full page ads saying to the public at large, "Anyone who is harmed in anyway by the actions of the so-called "Journalists" should call me- I will retain an attorney for them and help in every way to bring the law suits against the media and media persons directly responsible." Then watch the chill go up the yellow spines of these liberal idiots who published this list.

The problem is with the law and specifically with the term ´´public access´´ vis a vis vast technological changes. The laws were written years ago when public access meant that on a onesy-twosy basis, you have access to the public information. Internet, Facebook, Google Maps et al. have changed the meaning of public access, as the usage of these technologies changes the intent and nature of those old laws. For now, judges need to protect the public, and enforce the onesy-twosy access, but forbid the access to entire data bases. Then we must proceed legislatively to update the laws to codify new, safe and sane access to these data.

This was the moment lightning struck the Vatican today - hours after Pope Benedict XVI´s bolt-from-the-blue resignation. The lightning touched the dome of St. Peter´s Basilica, one of the holiest Catholic churches, after the Pope´s shock admission he lacks strength to do the job. The Vatican stressed that no specific medical condition prompted Benedict´s decision to quit - the first pontiff to do so in 600 years. The move surprised even his closest aides, even though Benedict, 85, had made clear in the past he would step down if he became too old or infirm.

Current TV, the small cable news channel that was co-founded by former vice president Al Gore, has been sold to Al Jazeera, the Qatar-based media company. The acquisition gives Al Jazeera, which is funded by the Qatar government, the opportunity to establish a footprint in the United States, where it already has an English-language version of its Qatar service -- called Al Jazeera English -- but only limited reach. Just buying Current does not guarantee instant distribution, however. Time Warner Cable, which offered Current in roughly 10 million of its homes, is dropping the channel.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

North Korea’s young leader Kim Jong-un is waiting for United States President Barack Obama to make a phone call to Pyongyang to discuss easing tensions on the Korean peninsula, according to Russia’s news agency Itar-Tass. The report cited United Kingdom diplomats, saying Pyongyang was demanding the U.S. president personally call Kim Jong-un as one of the conditions to relieve the current conflict at hand. Los Angeles — Some people have had it with TV. They´ve had enough of the 100-plus channel universe. They don´t like timing their lives around network show schedules. They´re tired of $100-plus monthly bills. A growing number of them have stopped paying for cable and satellite TV service, and don´t even use an antenna to get free signals over the air. (Snip) Last month, the Nielsen Co. started labeling people in this group "Zero TV" households, because they fall outside the traditional definition of a TV home. There are 5 million of these residences in the U.S., up from

She was 70. Funicello, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1987 and became a spokeswoman for treatment of the chronic, often-debilitating disease of the central nervous system, died at Mercy Southwest Hospital in Bakersfield, Walt Disney Co. spokesman Howard Green said. On Friday, Sean Hannity brought Pat Smith, mother of the late Sean Smith, on his radio program. The 34-year-old information management officer was one of four Americans murdered in the Benghazi embassy attack on September 11, 2012. In the chilling interview, a distraught Ms. Smith, in tears, pleaded for answers and spoke of the efforts to silence her. Ms. Smith first relayed how her son, prior to the attack, requested additional security in advance and warned the State Department: He did tell them, ahead of time, he typed it into his little typewriter over there,

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank

Susan Patton, the Princeton alumna who became famous for her letter urging Ivy League women to use their college years to find a mate, has been denounced as a traitor to feminism, to coeducation, to the university ideal. But really she’s something much more interesting: a traitor to her class. Her betrayal consists of being gauche enough to acknowledge publicly a truth that everyone who’s come up through Ivy League culture knows intuitively —

Chelsea Clinton has raised her profile in the last few days, which sparked the inevitable question about the former first daughter´s future: Will she ever be like Mom and Dad and run for office? Clinton, 33, essentially said "maybe" in an interview that aired Monday on NBC´s Today show. "Right now I´m grateful to live in a city, a state and a country where I strongly support my mayor, my governor, my president and my senators and my representative," said Clinton, whose father, Bill, was president from 1993-2001 and her mother, Hillary
