An Appeal for Dictatorship Comes Out of the Closet at the New York Times

| True to form, the New York Times saw out 2012 by publishing another apology for dictatorship. In his op-ed, Louis Michael Seidman -- Professor of Constitutional Law at Georgetown University - argues that the Constitution should be abandoned. The suggestion is so preposterous that it is tempting to dismiss the article altogether, but to do so would be to miss some very revealing implications. The article is not so much a suggestion of constitutional reform as an open call for dictatorship. Seidman begins by blaming the current governmental crisis, incredibly, on "obedience to the Constitution,"

It is stunning -even to those of us who have long since come to expect little from academia- to find that this man´s musings are what pass for legal scholarship and political wisdom in some quarters. That he holds a distinguished position at a famous school and is in a position to influence others is terrifying. For he does not even understand the nature and purpose of the United States Constitution - despite being credentialed as an expert on the subject! I would have difficulty believing this if he had not himself demonstrated it in his opinion piece. Here is a man who proposes eliminating the Constitution, or picking and choosing what to keep, who does not manifest so much as a glimmer of understanding as to what a constitution was ever deemed necessary to begin with. It is as though he is utterly unacquainted with the thousands of years of human history and political experience that were sifted and mined for the practical wisdom needed to found a self-sustaining republic. It is as though he knows nothing, absolutely nothing of the nature and behavior of human beings, their use and abuse of power, and the amply documented fates of governments elsewhere and in the past. This astonishing column rests upon a foundation of ignorance that, located in such a man and such an academic institution, can only be termed pathological. We are in even worse shape than I feared.

It would be a good thing indeed if the reelection of Dear Leader emboldens "progressives" to come out of their closets. I´m all for it, and will cheer them on every time they admit who they really are and what they really want, as this totalitarian professor does. The problem dealing with them is not their beliefs per se, but that they are so very clever at disguising those beliefs with "fairness" "equal rights" and "helping people" rhetoric. Far better that they come clean and admit that the Constitution is the roadblock in the way of their socialist/communist plans, and that they want it dismantled.

They just knew enough to not broadcast their seditious beliefs until they ´felt´ they had a secure upper-hand. Just because they´re misinformed doesn´t make them any less a domestic enemy of the constitution, however. And that crowd is the most murderous on the face of this planet. Beware.

The Constitution is the basis of due process and equality under the law. How would Professor Seidman guarantee things like fair trials, voting rights for blacks and women and non-discrimination by the government without the Constitution? What if "the people" objected to free speech or a free press? What would stop the government from censorship? I actually have met Professor Seidman--when he was much younger. He was always carrying ideas to their logical extremes. But this is just crazy. Maybe he has lost it.

We are clearly in a Constitutional Crisis in America. We have a President who supposedly took and oath, and will do so again January 20 and 21 of this year, to uphold the Constitution of the United States. However, he is clearly not doing so. His near term plans to confiscate guns will be a brazen attempt to undermine the 2nd amendment. The Senate has violated the constitution by not passing a budget. We can not let these actions continue and must take immediate actions to overcome this crisis.

Will the Republicans in Congress attach this notion to the Democrat Party?
It is what many in the Democrat estabishment think, and believe, after all.
Would they state, "many prominent Democrats want to scrap the U.S. Constitution, and replace it with something else. Really? Starting to believe the Democrat party doesn´t like America, or believe in America. After all, our current president always talks about the need to change America, so I guess they think it´s not a very good place to be since they feel the need to change it. But, to what type of government, or country do they point to for guidance? Is this the Democrat party you remember?"
Leave it at that. Put the notion out there, and keep repeating the theme.
It will start to seep into those who vote Democrat but aren´t looking to change America like those Ivory tower elites. It might even start to sink into the underclass the Democrat party relies on (those mostly in inner-cities) that they´re being left-behind, on purpose, and used with little hope of climbing up the ladder.

This is not exactly surprising. The Left say they are disappointed in Obama, not because he has pursued socialistic policies, but because he has not pursued them aggressively enough. Let´s remember that filmmaker Woody Allen was as incensed as anyone on the left over the polices of GW Bush, and thought he was the worst leader since Hitler, but thought it would be okay if Barack Obama was granted dictatorial powers for "awhile" until he could get the country under control. This is why the people of this country need the military grade weapons the left fears so much. It is our duty to resist this impending tyranny. DO NOT DISARM. DO NOT REGISTER YOUR WEAPONS. DO NOT ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE FINGERPRINTED LIKE A COMMON CRIMINAL. RESIST!!

The professor raises some points that should be heard. The Constitution was constructed to be a document used by the citizens to protect their rights. But it has been totally taken over by the lawyers and interpreted to increase their income. For example:
The death penalty used to be implemented within a few months (as with the Lincoln assassins) but now is stretched out to a quarter century or more.
Religious expressions used to be permitted in schools but now are forbidden.
It used to be constitutional for school teachers to turn a kid´s pockets inside-out to see if they had anything that might be dangerous. But now lawyer-invented and lawyer-enriching "privacy rights" are the basis for illegal drugs and related violence prevailing in nearly every school in America endangering schoolchildren everywhere.
And finally, under current perversions of the old Constitution, legislators can provide the people with free stuff with borrowed money and send the bill to the next generation.
Maybe we do need a benevolent dictatorship just long enough to reverse those travesties and restore the original intent to the Constitution. But it sure ain´t working like it used to; and it will require some serious open-heart surgery to fix it.

The progressive media are deliberately ignoring the horrifying practices of Dr. Kenneth Gosnell, the Philadelphia abortionist who executed babies born live and is now on trial for murder. Mark Steyn does not mince words: "The U.S. media´s unanimous agreement to see no evil is sick and totalitarian." At this stage of media corruption, the only option we have in facing such evil is public shaming and ridicule. We must demand answers as to why they ignore such a compelling story, and when we get them, we must parse them and ridicule the self-serving rationalizations. They are whoring out their journalistic principles

For a clue as to what may be motivating the North Korean regime´s recent provocations, one need look no further than Kim Jong-Un´s American counterpart in the Dear Leader deification sweepstakes. Barack Obama is another man without meaningful accomplishments elevated to a leadership position for which he was utterly unprepared and unqualified. If our major media were not fully committed propagandists, they would report the findings of a large scale survey of law enforcement personnel on the subject of further gun legislation. After all, they are currently following the President´s strategy of distracting the public from the awful state of the economy by exploiting the victims of Newtown to push for further erosion of Second Amendment rights. So the views of law enforcement personnel ought ot be of some interest. But of course the results are dramatic

The murder trial of abortionist Kermit Gosnell largely is being ignored by the mainstream media, even in the face of grisly testimony, such as what we heard yesterday. Life News reports: ...a former employee described how she heard a baby scream during a live-birth abortion. Abortion clinic employee Sherry West described an incident which "really freaked (her) out" and related to the jury how she heard a child who was born alive following an abortion scream.

What Americans say in public about same-sex marriage isn´t necessarily a good barometer of public opinion, because, if we´re going to be honest, there´s a huge discrepancy between the opinions that Americans express in polls and the opinions they express at the polls.(snip)It´s important for Americans to understand that the same-sex marriage campaign is about the disenfranchisement of dissenters, not empowerment. Before America embarks on changing the concept of marriage, I hope they will at least agree on examining cultures that do not define marriage as a covenant between one man and one woman. In their eagerness to achieve their goals, the pro gay marriage enthusiasts are marching towards what they perceive as progress and modernity while ignoring lessons from other cultures, history, basic human nature and the horrific and negative unintended consequences of redefining "marriage". Islam´s definition of marriage is one man and up to four women

During the highly publicized exchange between Bill O´Reilly and Laura Ingraham on gay marriage, O´Reilly made this statement: "There are Bible thumpers, and all they do is say, ´I object to gay marriage because God objects to it.´ You don´t win a policy debate in America with that." Really? Before central control out of Washington was imposed in 2003, policy arguments for criminalizing homosexual acts were won explicitly "with that." And because of "that," the idea of gay marriage has been unthinkable throughout the history of the American nation.

It´s one thing for President Obama to be cocky and overstate his prowess at governing. People are used to politicians grabbing credit, and besides, you can always rationalize when it comes to explaining why things didn´t quite work out as you claimed they would - "the sequester ate my recovery" being the latest successful-enough example. But sports is something else. The basketball either goes through the hoop or it doesn´t. That´s why President Obama´s history of braggadocio regarding his prowess at hoops is having a potent effect on his overall public image, especially with those who are favorably inclined to him.

Only one of my six children has left New York for economic reasons but the strain of living in this expensive nanny state is weighing heavy on my other five and their families. As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.

LOS ANGELES — Jonathan Winters, the cherub-faced comedian whose breakneck improvisations and misfit characters inspired the likes of Robin Williams and Jim Carrey, has died. He was 87. The Ohio native died Thursday evening at his Montecito, Calif., home of natural causes, said Joe Petro III, a longtime family friend. Petro said Winters died of natural causes and was surrounded by family and friends. Winters was a pioneer of improvisational standup comedy, with an exceptional gift for mimicry, a grab bag of eccentric personalities and a bottomless reservoir of creative energy.
