An Appeal for Dictatorship
Comes Out of the Closet
at the New York Times

American Thinker, by Daniel Downes

Original Article

Posted By:magnante, 1/4/2013 9:36:14 AM

True to form, the New York Times saw out 2012 by publishing another apology for dictatorship. In his op-ed, Louis Michael Seidman -- Professor of Constitutional Law at Georgetown University - argues that the Constitution should be abandoned. The suggestion is so preposterous that it is tempting to dismiss the article altogether, but to do so would be to miss some very revealing implications. The article is not so much a suggestion of constitutional reform as an open call for dictatorship. Seidman begins by blaming the current governmental crisis, incredibly, on "obedience to the Constitution,"

It is stunning -even to those of us who have long since come to expect little from academia- to find that this man´s musings are what pass for legal scholarship and political wisdom in some quarters. That he holds a distinguished position at a famous school and is in a position to influence others is terrifying. For he does not even understand the nature and purpose of the United States Constitution - despite being credentialed as an expert on the subject! I would have difficulty believing this if he had not himself demonstrated it in his opinion piece. Here is a man who proposes eliminating the Constitution, or picking and choosing what to keep, who does not manifest so much as a glimmer of understanding as to what a constitution was ever deemed necessary to begin with. It is as though he is utterly unacquainted with the thousands of years of human history and political experience that were sifted and mined for the practical wisdom needed to found a self-sustaining republic. It is as though he knows nothing, absolutely nothing of the nature and behavior of human beings, their use and abuse of power, and the amply documented fates of governments elsewhere and in the past. This astonishing column rests upon a foundation of ignorance that, located in such a man and such an academic institution, can only be termed pathological. We are in even worse shape than I feared.

It would be a good thing indeed if the reelection of Dear Leader emboldens "progressives" to come out of their closets. I´m all for it, and will cheer them on every time they admit who they really are and what they really want, as this totalitarian professor does. The problem dealing with them is not their beliefs per se, but that they are so very clever at disguising those beliefs with "fairness" "equal rights" and "helping people" rhetoric. Far better that they come clean and admit that the Constitution is the roadblock in the way of their socialist/communist plans, and that they want it dismantled.

The Constitution is the basis of due process and equality under the law. How would Professor Seidman guarantee things like fair trials, voting rights for blacks and women and non-discrimination by the government without the Constitution? What if "the people" objected to free speech or a free press? What would stop the government from censorship? I actually have met Professor Seidman--when he was much younger. He was always carrying ideas to their logical extremes. But this is just crazy. Maybe he has lost it.

We are clearly in a Constitutional Crisis in America. We have a President who supposedly took and oath, and will do so again January 20 and 21 of this year, to uphold the Constitution of the United States. However, he is clearly not doing so. His near term plans to confiscate guns will be a brazen attempt to undermine the 2nd amendment. The Senate has violated the constitution by not passing a budget. We can not let these actions continue and must take immediate actions to overcome this crisis.

Will the Republicans in Congress attach this notion to the Democrat Party?

It is what many in the Democrat estabishment think, and believe, after all.

Would they state, "many prominent Democrats want to scrap the U.S. Constitution, and replace it with something else. Really? Starting to believe the Democrat party doesn´t like America, or believe in America. After all, our current president always talks about the need to change America, so I guess they think it´s not a very good place to be since they feel the need to change it. But, to what type of government, or country do they point to for guidance? Is this the Democrat party you remember?"

Leave it at that. Put the notion out there, and keep repeating the theme.

It will start to seep into those who vote Democrat but aren´t looking to change America like those Ivory tower elites.
It might even start to sink into the underclass the Democrat party relies on (those mostly in inner-cities) that they´re being left-behind, on purpose, and used with little hope of climbing up the ladder.

This is not exactly surprising. The Left say they are disappointed in Obama, not because he has pursued socialistic policies, but because he has not pursued them aggressively enough. Let´s remember that filmmaker Woody Allen was as incensed as anyone on the left over the polices of GW Bush, and thought he was the worst leader since Hitler, but thought it would be okay if Barack Obama was granted dictatorial powers for "awhile" until he could get the country under control.
This is why the people of this country need the military grade weapons the left fears so much. It is our duty to resist this impending tyranny.
DO NOT DISARM. DO NOT REGISTER YOUR WEAPONS. DO NOT ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE FINGERPRINTED LIKE A COMMON CRIMINAL.
RESIST!!

The April Fool’s Day show put on in the Rose Garden yesterday was no triumph, but rather an act of desperation, touting “enrollment” numbers generated without any transparency, intended to arrest the downward spiral of Obamacare and the Democratic Party’s electoral prospects. The first part of the tell was the obvious outright lie told by the president in a “poor me” moment of self-pity. From the official transcript: And we didn’t make a hard sell. Conservative critics of government are “freaks,” are “in for a pretty rough ride,” and “will need their Kevlar,” i.e., bullet-proof vests. While alarm bells are loudly ringing over the Common Core, a much quieter, yet potentially devastating, coup is underway, enabling the progressives to subvert secondary education. In classic leftist fashion, the vehicle chosen to propagandize our youth into seeing America as a fundamentally racist, unworthy, and unfair society in need of “fundamental transformation” revolves around a wealthy non-profit organization that enjoys a near-monopoly on a prestige-generating market niche.
