| John Boehner´s first order of business in his second term as speaker is no more one-on-one meetings with President Obama. An aide to the speaker, who won re-election to the leadership post Thursday afternoon, confirmed to Fox News that Boehner is done with closed-door talks with the president. Boehner and Obama over the past two years have made two unsuccessful attempts at striking a "grand bargain" deficit-reduction deal. The last set of talks, in the context of crafting a bill to avert the fiscal crisis, ended with Boehner exiting the negotiations and pushing a failed "Plan B"

Comments: This article takes me back more than 30-years-ago when I use to watch wrestling on a weekly basis. Besides "Macho Man" Randy Savage and his "manager," the Lovely Elizabeth, my fave part were the interviews. Why? because like Boehner here in this article, the bad guy could turn on a dime and become the good guy in a few weeks. I didn´t believe it then, nor do I believe Boehner now. But, all I was doing was watching mindless screed then. Not now.

So is this an indication that Congress and particularly Boehner have taken efficiency to heart? Is Boehner just streamlining the surrender part by eliminated the need to waste time personally graveling to Obambi and just surrender right from the start? Maybe Boehner can push this as a deficit reduction plan. Save us taxpayers the wasted cash on staffers and expensive travel when we all know he just plans to do whatever Obambi wants from the beginning.

I agree with #8. The Speaker was in a tough place with very little leverage. The fiscal cliff deal was lousy but did prevent a calamity. Boehner´s statement basically says that obama is not an honorable man as he will not keep his word.

How about vowing to end continuing spending resolutions and force the Senate Democrats to approve a budget???? It would be Constitutional but that wouldn´t be nice according to the Dems and msm so I doubt that will happen. Good grief what other nonsense did he tell the House Republicans in order to keep being the Speaker? We´re toast with such weak willed leaders like Boehner. There will be no real spending cuts no matter what Boehner declares. It will be all smoke and mirrors.

My recommendation for strategy... unlike pessimists on another thread today... I expect we will triumph in the 2014 midterms next year. We will own the House and the Senate. We can wreck the final two years of Bamster´s reign of terror.
When Obamacare kicks in, in Jan. 2014, you will have... even worse unemployment, economy, taxes, misery... second terms are downhill for all prez, especially nasty sick ones like Bammy.
The sixth year, the second term mid-terms, are usually disastrous. Be patient and wait for it. Why all the panic? Why all the pessimism? We know what we´re up against. Let´s do it. Let´s roll.

OP, you know Randy "Macho Man" Savage and Miss Elizabeth are both no longer with us, don´t you? He died in a car crash, and she died from an OD while she was living with Lex Luger (real name Lawrence Pfohl). Which was one of the many things that prompted Lex to turn his life over to the Lord, and he´s doing well today, AFIK. He had some medical troubles after that, but recovered pretty well, and was a big testimony to the other patients at Shepherd.

Guessing he intimidated conservatives from opposing him by threatening any supporters for new leadership. Then, so as not to get Palin or a new third party stealing the base away, he says he will not meet with Obama "one on one." Here is the compromise establishment republicans prefer rather than understanding and explaining to the voters what marxism and Cloward-Piven strategies will do to the children of America. Instead of the Obama marxists overthrowing the country violently -- as in, "Have you ever been a member of an organization dedicated to the violent overthrow of the U.S?" -- they can overthrow, or transform non-violently, using [grudging] republican help and the "fairness" narrative. And while we are looking at "The Cliff," or the "Benghazi Story," or "The Plane Crash in Iran which killed a SEAL General and wounded Hillary", Obama has, like a Deist Clockwinder God, created enough instability and Anti-Semitism in the Middle East to have it come apart tomorrow. The press in the totalitarian regimes plants National Enquirer stories, since Truth is virtually dead here for those to whom America is a bi-word or a "country-tradition". Somewhere tonight, with a few normal looking friends, Boehner is being celebrated for his raw political skill and his win. And maybe one of these normal looking friends, a backslidden type with a Stella in his hand, suddenly sees invisible writing on the wall. It says, "Things that cause people to sin must come, but woe to that person by whom these things come." [Luke 17:1]

This is the, ´same-old, same-old,´ cream-puff rhetoric from blubbering doormat Boehner & his statist GOP cronies and, as in the last House session, it just isn´t getting the job done. As the other headline notes, 0bama is relaxing on the beach while Boehner squeeks by in the Senate vote!!! ...What kind of GOP leadership is THAT? THIS President and THIS Congress infringe upon every Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving and 4th of July every year now. They don´t read the legislation they vote on in the dead of night. They are a communal statist disaster. And in the end, they ignore the Constitution and their own oaths of office. Our ship of state is without a rudder & adrift inside the beltway.
How pathetic that at this critical point in American history all this Senate GOP, ´leadership,´ has to offer is talk, talk and more talk?!! Faced by 0bama/Reid/Biden(?!)/Kerry(?!!!!!) and the like, the current GOP, ´led,´ by Boehner has caved AGAIN, collapsed and is down for the count. Where is a principled GOP leader in this Congress who can actually champion the Constitution & articulate/communicate its principled policies of Life & Liberty with Justice for ALL? Who will the oath of the office? Please step up!

I say that the Speaker should refuse to go to the White House when the next crisis evolves and Barky issues a call for a command performance. Instead inform ol´ Purple Lips that he needs to come down to the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue if he´s serious about holding discussions. Pennsylvania Ave. isn´t a one-way street. I agree with 8, 9, etc. How did this "direct" negotiation get started? If I recall correctly, it was Zippy who invited them all to the WH, and suddenly that became the main M.O. After what The Won pulled last summer (welching on the deal he proposed, a la Lucy and the football), Boehner would have been within his rights to refuse to go back, knowing there would just be more of the same in store for him. By showing bona fides, he got creamed again by The Won.
I don´t blame him one bit, and if that´s the way Barry wants to play, he´s welcome to a game of solitaire.

Welcome to the 21st century President Clinton! The chief executive who guided America on to the Information Superhighway revealed he didn’t have a Twitter page — until comedian Stephen Colbert got a handle on this low-tech travesty. Amazingly, Clinton said he was too shy and insecure to start his own Twitter page. (Snip) A laughing and mildly embarrassed Clinton took the bait, and dictated his first tweet under the @PrezBillyJeff handle. “Just spent amazing time with Colbert! Is he sane? San Francisco & New York - Google Inc said on Tuesday it plans to bring its ultra high-speed Internet and television service to Austin, Texas, next year, prompting AT&T Inc to reveal its own plans to follow suit - if it gets the same terms from local authorities. AT&T appeared to be making a political point to highlight the heavy regulations that encumber traditional phone companies, analysts said. Google promised to begin connecting homes in Austin by the middle of 2014 with a 1-gigabit-per-second Internet service, roughly 13 times faster than the speediest service AT&T had

Bahrain on Tuesday became the first Arab country to blacklist Hizbullah as a terrorist organization, the Al Arabiya network reports. The move came a week after the Bahraini parliament voted to label the group a terrorist organization. Its alleged backing and training of radical Shiite groups against Bahrain was the main reason given for the decision, the report said. The Bahraini cabinet has tasked the interior and foreign ministries with implementing the decision. “The measure is to protect Bahrain’s security and stability from Hezbollah’s threats,” Bahraini MP Adil al-Asoumi told Al Arabiya.

A source close to the politically active daughter of Vice President Dick Cheney tells The Daily Caller that she is still seriously considering running. Over the weekend, The Casper Star Tribune reported that Enzi told a meeting of the GOP state party committee that he is looking forward to running for re-election — something he has yet to formally announce. "They" would be cicadas, the big, noisy bugs that climb out of the earth about every decade and a half to make everyone´s life more exciting. Experts tell Gannett News Service that the bugs live underground and feed off fluid that gathers near the roots of plants, then emerge from the soil when its temperature reaches 64 degrees. They´re largely harmless, but their sheer numbers can cause headaches. Some areas could see as many as a billion of the cicadas per square mile. That can lead to a lot of dead bugs all over roadways

Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”
