| At the University of Minnesota, the number of employees with “human resources” or “personnel” in their job titles has grown from 180 to 272 since the 2004-05 academic year. Since 2006, the university has spent $10 million on consultants for a vast new housing development that is decades from completion. It employs 139 people for marketing, promotions and communications. Some 81 administrators make $200,000 per year or more. In the past decade, Minnesota’s administrative payroll has gone up three times as fast as the teaching payroll, and twice as fast as student enrollment.

The costs go up because of "Free" tuition money from the federal gov´t. The price is paid in higher and higher tuition costs for the kids and higher and higher taxes for the parents while the education they get is substandard.
The ones who make out like bandits are the gov´t workers who get massive pensions without putting a dime of their own money in!
Expect obamacare costs to go up and up while care goes down - you can bet your life on it!

I used to teach at a small Catholic college in the Midwest. When I started, the college had 1 priest (unpaid) who worked in the Office of Campus Ministry. When I left 20 years later, there were 14 Full Time Employees (all paid, with benefits) in the same office. During the same time, tuition rose from $8k/year to $27k/year. And the academic standards fell during the same period. Welcome to the new corruption of academia.

RALEIGH — A new study suggests rising health care costs have taken a particularly large toll in North Carolina, where the number of residents who receive health insurance through their employers has dropped sharply over the past decade. The portion of North Carolinians under age 65 with employer-sponsored insurance declined from 69 percent in 2000 to 56 percent in 2011, according to the report released Thursday by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. SAN FRANCISCO — California lawmakers are considering taking some tax exemptions away from youth groups that do not accept gay, transgender or atheist members — a move intended to pressure the Boy Scouts of America to lift its ban on gay Scouts and troop leaders. Some cities have withdrawn free rent and other subsidies from the Boy Scouts over the years, but legislation introduced by state Sen. Ricardo Lara would make California the first state to target the Scouts for its anti-gay policy. The Long Beach Democrat´s bill, SB 323, is scheduled for its first committee hearing on Wednesday.
