Chicago Area Bank Robberies
Nearly Double Over 2011

CBS Chicago, by Staff

Original Article

Posted By:AltaD, 12/31/2012 3:26:57 PM

Bank robbers had a busy year in 2012. The FBI said robbers have hit 218 banks in the Chicago area as of Dec. 31, compared to 115 in 2011. “Close to double what we had in the prior year,” said FBI Special Agent Joan Hyde. WBBM Newsradio’s Brandis Friedman reports, while people often look for a way to explain a spike in bank robberies, Hyde said it’s not often tied to a greater issue, like the economy. “That just doesn’t play out. Typically the bank robbers are motivated by their need for money for a drug habit, or gambling debts,” she said.

Comments:
And yet, Rahm and his "top cop" insist crime is down.

Same thing with pharmacies really. They´d rather the robber get away with the loot than a customer possibly getting caught in a crossfire.I mean you had a pharmacist get jail time for shooting a robber too many times.Laws favor the criminal these days and you can bet a lot of people look at these as a form of reparations.

There is a fairly simple mechanism to stop robberies. It consists of a bulletproof foyer, about 4´ by 4´, with a remote control locking system. When the robber tries to exit the bank, the inside door is locked behind him, the outside door locked in front of him.
Then it is a matter of simply sitting and staring at him until he surrenders.

So-chances are you are either gunned down on the streets of Chicago or in prison for robbing a bank. Seems like a numbers game and the population should be down soon as Fluke becomes mayor.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel will move Wednesday to fill a “regulatory vacuum” that has given ride-sharing companies an unfair advantage over taxicabs, with no safeguards to protect consumers. The 20-page ordinance, expected to be introduced at a City Council meeting, would license ride-sharing companies as “transportation network providers” and require them to pay an annual, $25,000 fee, plus $25 per driver. UberX, Lyft, SideCar and other ride-sharing companies that allow drivers to offer rides in their personal vehicles to passengers who order them on their smartphones also would be required to pay the city’s $3.50 a day per vehicle ground transportation

Illinois rolled out its new, information-chocked school report card recently and provided an easy-to-understand figure of how many Illinois high school graduates are ready to go to college. Brace yourself: It´s only 46 percent. That, the state says, pegs how students have a reasonable chance at college success, based on their ACT scores. You don´t need to have nailed a perfect 36 on the ACT to know that means a little more than half of high school grads aren´t ready to do college-level work. Brace yourself again: Even that may be optimistic. By the ACT´s own calculations, only one-fourth of Illinois students are prepared

Before getting to the speech itself, it’s worth noting a few things. When the Democrats passed and Barack Obama signed Obamacare, the majority opposed it. About 56%, in fact. A majority have consistently opposed that law ever since. The Obama administration touted 7 million sign-ups by March 31 as “success.” When that goal appeared to be unreachable, the administration suggested that maybe 5 or 6 million would be enough. Now, as if by magic, they have their number. Somehow. All along, the administration has touted false numbers of enrollees. All along, the administration has neglected to admit that Obamacare is

A few months back, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius stated for the record that 7 million Obamacare sign-ups by the end of March would constitute success. She was clear about it. But then February came, and February always stinks. It’s just a lousy month. You’re tired of winter, you’re still miles away from spring, and no one was signing up for Obamacare. A triumphant President Barack Obama declared his signature medical insurance overhaul a success, saying it has made America´s health care system ´a lot better.´ But buried in the 7.1 million enrollments he announced in a heavily staged Rose Garden appearance is a more unsettling reality. Numbers from a RAND Corporation study that has been kept under wraps suggest that barely 858,000 previously uninsured Americans – nowhere near 7.1 million – have paid for new policies and joined the ranks of the insured by Monday night. With Chris Christie in deep trouble, Republican poobahs are reportedly looking to Jeb Bush to save their party in 2016. The former two-term governor of Florida speaks fluent Spanish, is a convert to Catholicism, and has high name recognition. Jeb could raise millions of dollars over night by just saying “yes” to running. Despite all this, there are strong reasons Republicans should say no to him. 1. His last name is poison. Let’s face it, if Jeb Bush had the last name of Something Else he would have already run for president in 2008 or 2012. According to a recent Washington Post/ABC News poll registered voters were asked if they would definitely NOT vote for Jeb Bush and 50 percent said they would not.
