Offers fly, but still no
‘fiscal cliff’ agreement

Washington Times, by Stephen Dinan and Sean Lengell

With hours to go, President Obama and Congress barreled toward the New Year´s Day “fiscal cliff,” trading last-minute offers and narrowing the range of options Sunday, but reaching no deal. “There’s still significant distance between the two sides,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, announced Sunday evening, though he said there was still time to reach agreement by Monday’s midnight deadline. “We intend to continue negotiations.” Talks were so broken at one point Sunday that the top Republican negotiator, Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, bypassed Mr. Reid to speak

We should have gone off the cliff four years ago so that the idiots who voted for this PINO could have seen its destructive results.

The RINOS have been protecting the dems this whole time.

By going off the cliff now may inflict pain and indeed show those idiot voters what we´ve known all along, but it won´t do any good for future elections I´m afraid.

No deals! Let the Rats talk bad about the adults in the room who try to get them to behave. That won´t change no matter how much the sitter wants to appease the spoiled children.

So Harry the reid can´t dream up a counter offer.
That means he knows his counter will not be legal because not he or Obama nor the Senate are the legal Branch of Congress where such bill begin as stated in the US Constitution.
The House of Reps passed a bill months ago that should have been voted on by the Senate.
The Senate who does not have the authority to write spending or budget bills.
The president has no legal standing to decide such matters -- he may propose but cannot force his version into law. He can only sign or veto the Congressional passed law. Passed by both houses without bribery.
Since harry has become too senile to accept the reality that he is not the sole power in the senate he should resign before Jan. 1.
His party members are guilty of evading their duty to the American people and all Democrat senators should correct the crimes they are committing against us or they too should resign.
We are a Representative Republic not Democracy although they would be still allowing a dictatorship if we were.

No matter what happens, His Majesty´s media-slaves will be given orders to blame it on the Republicans, and the media-slaves will obey. Thus, it - whatever meaningless "deal" it is - will eventually be the fault of the Republicans, since the media-slave narrative is sanctioned by the GOP (slander, cover-ups, lies and corruption in media-slave businesses off limits to exposure and never to be prosecuted in court). So it´s a win-win for Obama, no matter what happens. The victims and scapegoats are all lined up and playing their roles willingly.

The impasse is getting Obama to agree to use the new taxes to pay some of the debt or close the yearly deficit. He wants to use the money for new spending and he keeps holding press conferences blaming Republicans for standing in the way because they want to protect the richest Americans, while he wants to protect the "middle class". He can´t say "middle class" often enough.

It seems to me that McConnell and the other Republicans are doing all they can, not going along "willingly". Otherwise, they would have given in by now. Why, oh why can´t we blame the Democrats and insist it is all their fault?

I simply could NOT believe my ears this morning at 50 a.m. when I heard him say on the news "I want to make SHOOOOORE (gack) Social Security and Medicare remain in place for our seniors." May not be verbatim but close enough. Lying SOB. Is that why he took 500+ billion out of medicare to help pay for his ´health care´ bill. His hypocrisy is breathtaking.

The new deal is they increase the taxes, but slowly over a three year period so the nitwit voters get used to it, and there will be no cuts in spending. New deal. Right.

US warns citizens to leave
Yemen amid terror alert
BBC News, by Staff    Original Article

The US state department has told citizens and non-emergency government staff to leave Yemen "immediately" due to security threats. It comes after the sudden closure of 20 US embassies and consulates on Sunday. This was prompted by intercepted conversations between two senior al-Qaeda figures, including top leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, US media said. Meanwhile the UK Foreign office says it has withdrawn embassy staff from Yemen and advises against all travel there. The US earlier said the closures in North Africa and the Middle East were "out of an abundance of caution".

Last week I put up a brief post on how the current terror warning that has seen the U.S. close most of its embassies in the Middle East–based on “chatter”–is peculiar, if not worse. Every watcher of The Sopranos or The Wire knows that the bad guys are not dumb, and know that we’ll be listening to any conventional communication, which is why I suggested this whole thing might well be Al Qaeda disinformation. Intelligence ninja Angelo Codevilla dilates the matter splendidly: The embassy shutdowns and the traveler warnings resulted from intercepts

While conservatives and liberals consider the political leanings of Washington Post buyer and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos in an attempt to divine how his politics will affect those of the historic institution, the truth appears to be far simpler: the Post is now Bezos’ latest political tool in a crony capitalist effort to work with the Obama administration. How else to explain President Obama puzzling decision last week to roll out his corporate tax plan at an Amazon.com fulfillment center? Bezos spent $250 million of his own money to purchase the Post, which is bleeding money at an incredible

Some years ago, I heard this story: one of my partners, who at the time was a young associate, got a phone call from a former college fraternity brother. The bro said that he was starting a company that would sell books on the internet, and would my partner-to-be like to invest? Sorry, he responded: I would like to, but I am only a lawyer and don’t have any money. The fraternity brother, of course, was Jeff Bezos, and the company was Amazon. Even as the White House insisted that the U.S. has made great strides in the war against terrorism under President Obama, the president’s spokesman acknowledged Monday that officials cannot rule out the possibility that the latest terrorist plot apparently discussed between top al Qaeda operatives could jeopardize the U.S. homeland. Fresh details emerged about the nature of the threat that will keep U.S. embassies in 19 Middle Eastern and African cities closed for the rest of the week, as U.S. and allied security officials continued to grapple with a threat that all sides in Washington agreed was the most

Intelligence regarding al Qaeda plans to attack U.S. embassies, officials, and interests last Sunday was known for months by U.S. intelligence agencies but was used only recently to trigger the closure of embassies and issuance of public warnings of impending attacks. Al Qaeda “chatter” about coming terrorist operations, mainly against 22 U.S. embassies and consulates, and threats to attack or bomb officials in the Middle East and elsewhere was widely reported in classified intelligence reports over several months. The report said an attack was planned for Sunday, although no attack was carried out.

THE STATE Department has shuttered 19 embassies for a week, fearing terrorist attacks. Hundreds of prisoners, including senior al-Qaeda operatives, have busted loose in prison breaks in Iraq, Libya and Pakistan. At Bagram air base in Afghanistan, The Post’s Kevin Sieff reports, U.S. forces are holding 67 non-Afghan prisoners, many of whom can’t be tried in court but are too dangerous to release. Meanwhile President Obama says he wants to “refine and ultimately repeal” the mandate Congress has given him to fight the war on terror. What’s going on here?

A Monmouth University poll released late last week was notable for the fact that, like many other polls, it showed President Obama upside down on job approval with registered voters--41% approve to 54% disapprove. A closer look, though, reveals the poll´s most startling find: Obama has lost credibility with the middle class. When asked if Obama is sincere about refocusing his presidency on the middle class, only 46% believe it, while a full 50% do not. Independents are more skeptical than overall voters. A full 54% don´t believe the president, while only 42% do.

Leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood, which is at the vanguard of the street protests against Morsi’s ouster, claim the US supported the coup. For nearly a year, we have had no answer to why the administration lied about Benghazi — why it told the world, not to mention the parents of our murdered SEALs at the funeral of their sons, that the cause of that fatal conflagration was an anti-Islamic video no one saw, when the various arms of our executive branch (White House, State and intelligence) already knew, or strongly suspected, it was a terror attack orchestrated by al-Qaeda affiliates. You only have to read the now infamous talking points to know that. That this lie was deeply immoral is obvious.
