Obama Emerges, Promises Three More Days of Posturing

| Saying that he is “modestly optimistic,” President Obama emerged this evening to call the afternoon meeting at the White House between himself and Congressional leaders “constructive.” Obama said that Senate leaders Reid and McConnell will try reaching a deal on the cliff, and if they cannot, he wants an up or down vote in the House and the Senate on a slimmed down deal that preserves current tax rates on the middle class. The Republican House tried moving just such a deal last week, but failed on the fact that tax rates would still go up

Whenever you hear one of these people say "the deal isn´t perfect but it´s the best one we could get" get ready to grab your ankles. If Boehner and the House rolls over on an Obama biased proposal, they´ll need to find a new job in 2015.
Obviously Obama is stalling to get their backs against the wall so they cave. I say take the cliff rather than give Obama what he wants. You´re going to get bad press either way.

Going over the cliff will awaken many of the dolts who work for a living but feel the Squatter is our messiah. Let the numerous Hollywierds and millions of us working stiffs feel the pain for a short time that this mess will eventually bring in spades without a true correction. That´s a balanced budget, (What budget? There ain´t no budget) control of fraud and control of entitlements and more.
Maybe an uprising will generate an unequivocal understanding that US minions aren´t going to take it any more. Too many believe that the handouts will be forthcoming. What they don´t understand is that they will go only to the 47%; i.e. Voters who gave us the Squatters including those grifters on the gummint dole!

“Three more days of posturing.” Plus four years of having done so and four more years in the offing. That’s enough posturing for a lifetime. Even several lifetimes. Under his leadership, corruption has almost become an art form.

Perhaps Coulter is right. The republicans should vote present and let the democrats own this one. When people start losing their jobs they can blame the dems.

Aaarrrggghhh!! The Democrats will NEVER ´´own´´ anything! They are experts at Alinsky, while the Senate and House Republicans (/s) don´t seem to even KNOW about Alinsky Rules, much less apply them back IN RETURN.
And what´s with ´´modestly optimistic´´? Did he mean MODERATELY optimistic? What does modesty have to do with optimism? Here again, Barcky´s well known narcissism is front and center. He knows no modesty. Taking credit for something he is hopeful for..... (this was not a question).
Obama will blame Republicans for everything, now and forever (if we let him), and the drones will know no different. And they won´t care. Whatever schadenfreude we may get from the upcoming disasters in their lives, will make no difference and will bite us back in the end. Drones won´t accept that Obama and the Democrats set this in motion - and care not one whit about them, really - only that the Republicans caused it because that´s all they´ll hear from their dronemasters.
Or the Republicans will cave (again) and Obama will be the Hero of the Universe. Again.

Two things are NOT happening that SHOULD:
First....what party was responsible for making sure the "Bush Tax Rates" were "temporary" ???? Can any news organization find who proposed that or inserted that language into the bill ?
Second....this tax situation is NOTHING MORE than a return to the "Clinton Tax Rates". Call it that every time. The Dems think of the Clinton years as the time of our lives, so call it that and LET them own that.
Spending cuts are the secondary part of the equation, but we are losing the PR battle by letting the Democrat press define the issues (i.e. "fiscal cliff", "Bush Tax cuts", etc)

In re #2, yes absolutely. We are about to get a small sample of what happened to the Greeks. But, look, if I was in Boehner´s and McConnell´s shoes, accepting tax increases not as hard to swallow if dollar for dollar spending cuts are adopted at the same time. Whew...but, this sounds equivalent to going over the cliff.

The only way to turn public opinion if this happens will be by a resurgence of Tea Party activism. This time hopefully with higher GenX participation. Our million strong Tax Day march on Washington in 2009 and numerous rallies across America setup the 2010 rout. Obama plans to blame Republicans for his new taxes via the media but a grassroots campaign can overcome that. One can only hope.

A very frustrated Congressman Aaron Schock was on Greta last night and he made excellent points that you will never hear or read in the non FOX media. The interview is on his website. The House , including 19 Democrats , passed a clean bill saving the Bush tax cuts for everyone last summer. Harry Reid refuses to let it come up in the Senate. Last April 13 , Obama proposed 3 dollars in spending cuts for every dollar raised in revenue . Republicans believe they can raise that revenue without increasing taxes . Schock said that Boehner tried to save as many " hostages " ( taxpayers ) as he could by agreeing to Obama´s April proposal and he was rebuffed. That Obama promise had an expiration date and it was on Nov 6. As Schock said, the proposals made by Obama and Reid are so outlandish , it´s obvious they do not want a deal . The House is just negotiating with itself. The Coulter proposal is intriguing, but, the only way it might get media coverage would be a massive press conference on the steps of Capitol Hill. Where Boehener and the Republicans would lay out their frustration at Obama´s refusal to negotiate in good faith ( or any faith , not even his Muslim faith) . Republicans would have to be unified in this and that could be a problem.

Frustration is taking its toll in the liberals’ war against guns. President Obama, pushing his broad gun control agenda, said we should be ashamed if we’ve forgotten the Newtown shooting so soon. The New York Times opined that Obama is being shouted down by the “gun lobby,” even though he and Biden had been crisscrossing the country “…making a forceful case for a package of laws that would reduce gun violence.” That, of course, is the media narrative on gun control. For every issue there is a narrative: a set of assumptions and boundaries of thought

GOLFE-JUAN, France—Frank Samson has prepared for a long time to meet his Waterloo. The French lawyer impersonates Napoleon Bonaparte at re-enactment battles, but it is no idle hobby. Mr. Samson has found what he says are perfect replicas of the French general´s gray overcoat, he has studied Napoleon´s native Corsican tongue and he has had himself crowned emperor of France, in a cathedral yet. In 2015, he wants to lead thousands of military enthusiasts into the ultimate re-enactment: the 200th anniversary of the battle of Waterloo in Belgium. But an American rival stands in his way. Is it time to give up the fight against Obamacare? That’s a question some conservative health-care experts, pundits, and — more quietly — politicians are asking. In the first years after its passage, opponents had hoped that the Supreme Court would strike down the law or that a new president would sign its repeal before most of it took effect. But the Supreme Court decided to modify a few of its provisions instead of striking it down, and President Obama was reelected. Repeal is almost certainly off the table for four years. Obamacare will continue to be implemented.

As the bipartisan Gang of Eight works to complete a comprehensive immigration reform bill, there has been a growing consensus among Senate Republicans that the bill — so far seen by no one outside the Gang — should be the subject of multiple hearings and extended consideration inside the Senate Judiciary Committee. But on Sunday there were signs that consensus does not extend to the Republicans inside the Gang. Appearing on CBS, longtime immigration reform advocate and Gang member Sen. John McCain suggested the immigration issue is so familiar to lawmakers that multiple hearings will not be necessary.

Via Fox Nation, newly released statistics show that illegal immigrant infiltration along the U.S.-Mexico border is increasing markedly despite recent statements to the contrary by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano: “I can tell you having worked that border for 20 years, it is more secure now than it has ever been. Illegal apprehensions are at 40-year lows,” Napolitano told reporters this week in Houston. But figures released Thursday by Customs and Border Protection to Fox News tell a different story. Tourists flock to the place. So do birds. Lots of birds. And with those birds comes lots of poop. Obama, Kerry and Hagel thought that they had a plan for putting North Korea back in the box. North Korea had conducted a nuclear test in February, violating once again the various understandings that had been worked out. But agreements and understandings, written or oral, had never meant much to the repressive regime which had suspended the Armistice Agreement that ended the Korean War numerous times—including last month. The quasi-official ideology of the U.S. armed forces holds that generals are virtually interchangeable, that individual personalities don’t matter much, that ordinary grunts are in any case more important than their leaders, and that what really counts are larger systems that make a complex bureaucracy function. There is some truth to all of this. But for all of the bureaucratic heft of the services and the heroism of ordinary soldiers, it is hard to imagine the Civil War having been won without Grant, Sherman, and Sheridan—or World War II without Marshall, Eisenhower, Patton, Bradley, Arnold, LeMay, Nimitz, Halsey,

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. Gluten-free diets are all the rage, but they can be dangerous if not done right. What is gluten? It´s the spongy complex of proteins, found naturally in wheat, rye, and barley, that gives elasticity to dough and allows it to rise. When flour is moistened and either kneaded or mixed into dough, gluten molecules form an elastic, microscopic latticework that traps the carbon dioxide produced when yeast ferments, causing dough to inflate like a hot air balloon. Baking hardens the gluten, which helps the finished product keep its shape. Wheat — and gluten — is ubiquitous in the American diet.
