Going over the cliff will awaken many of the dolts who work for a living but feel the Squatter is our messiah. Let the numerous Hollywierds and millions of us working stiffs feel the pain for a short time that this mess will eventually bring in spades without a true correction. That´s a balanced budget, (What budget? There ain´t no budget) control of fraud and control of entitlements and more.

Maybe an uprising will generate an unequivocal understanding that US minions aren´t going to take it any more. Too many believe that the handouts will be forthcoming. What they don´t understand is that they will go only to the 47%; i.e. Voters who gave us the Squatters including those grifters on the gummint dole!

Obama will blame Republicans for everything, now and forever (if we let him), and the drones will know no different. And they won´t care. Whatever schadenfreude we may get from the upcoming disasters in their lives, will make no difference and will bite us back in the end. Drones won´t accept that Obama and the Democrats set this in motion - and care not one whit about them, really - only that the Republicans caused it because that´s all they´ll hear from their dronemasters.

Or the Republicans will cave (again) and Obama will be the Hero of the Universe. Again.

Two things are NOT happening that SHOULD:

First....what party was responsible for making sure the "Bush Tax Rates" were "temporary" ???? Can any news organization find who proposed that or inserted that language into the bill ?

Second....this tax situation is NOTHING MORE than a return to the "Clinton Tax Rates". Call it that every time. The Dems think of the Clinton years as the time of our lives, so call it that and LET them own that.

Spending cuts are the secondary part of the equation, but we are losing the PR battle by letting the Democrat press define the issues (i.e. "fiscal cliff", "Bush Tax cuts", etc)

Everything Obama and the Dems have done over the last four years has been about avoiding having to vote on a budget. Maybe we´ll get a "Gang of Six" or a "Gaggle of Four" deal this time again. What a crock of garbage.

In re #2, yes absolutely. We are about to get a small sample of what happened to the Greeks. But, look, if I was in Boehner´s and McConnell´s shoes, accepting tax increases not as hard to swallow if dollar for dollar spending cuts are adopted at the same time. Whew...but, this sounds equivalent to going over the cliff.

Anything the pubbies do will just be criticized by the MSM. Anything the dems do will be the story of the day for the MSM.

The only way to turn public opinion if this happens will be by a resurgence of Tea Party activism. This time hopefully with higher GenX participation. Our million strong Tax Day march on Washington in 2009 and numerous rallies across America setup the 2010 rout. Obama plans to blame Republicans for his new taxes via the media but a grassroots campaign can overcome that. One can only hope.

obama is back in D/C but his focus will be to increase the deficit and to play politics, not avert a fiscal cliff.

The House , including 19 Democrats , passed a clean bill saving the Bush tax cuts for everyone last summer.
Harry Reid refuses to let it come up in the Senate.
Last April 13 , Obama proposed 3 dollars
in spending cuts for every dollar raised in revenue .
Republicans believe they can raise that revenue
without increasing taxes .
Schock said that Boehner tried to save as
many " hostages " ( taxpayers ) as he could by agreeing to Obama´s April proposal and he was rebuffed.
That Obama promise had an expiration date
and it was on Nov 6.
As Schock said, the proposals made by Obama and Reid are so outlandish , it´s obvious they do not want a deal .
The House is just negotiating with itself.
The Coulter proposal is intriguing, but, the only way it might get media coverage would be a massive press conference on the steps of Capitol Hill.
Where Boehener and the Republicans would lay out their frustration at Obama´s refusal to negotiate in good faith ( or any faith ,
not even his Muslim faith) .
Republicans would have to be unified in this and that could be a problem.

I originally supported the "vote present" strategy - until NerØbama raised the ante. That strategy properly applied to what el Presidente campaigned on, not his wish list. Now that it will be their way or the highway: I vote for highway.
