| IF nothing else, the debate over the “fiscal cliff” has dramatically illustrated the true cost of President Barack Obama´s fiscal policies. If the president and Congress don´t reach an agreement, roughly $671 billion in tax increases and spending cuts would take effect — yet the nation would still continue to run a deficit nearly twice the size of the pre-recession 2007 deficit.(Snip)Falling over the fiscal cliff also could result in nearly 30 million additional filers being hit by the alternative minimum tax, including some earning as little as $33,750, according to the IRS.

It does little to illustrate the true costs of Obama´s policies. The cliff is just the tip of the iceberg, 90% of the costs are hidden and covered up by the media. Obama Care being one of the biggest costs.

People who do not pay any income tax will drop from 46% to 34%. That should be a boon to Republicans when one citizen in eight realizes there is no such thing as a free lunch. Lets see how much spine Boehner and Co. show.

I agree with #4. But unfortunately we who did not vote for obama will also be getting heartburn from that sandwich. As long as the 47% keep getting those monthly hits to their welfare credit cards they simply do not care. Their "free money" must be reduced in proportion to the pain the workers will be hit with before they actually figure it all out. As you know they are a bit on the dense side.

A good article, but it did not address the fact that the House of Representatives passed a tax bill in August about tax rates and the alternative minimum tax fix but Harry Reid won´t let it even be debated in the Senate.
There is a "do-nothing" in Congress, his name is Harry Reid!!

Borelli is the very model of a human being, an African American and a woman who is just plain tired up to here at all of the back of the bus treatment dished by liberals — black and white alike — to conservatives who happen to be black. A country that stakes its future on lies will not have one. The fashionable lie of the moment is “gay marriage.” The push to deprive children of mothers and fathers for the sake of “genderless” marriage has never been stronger. The media propaganda about its “inevitability” is unremitting. One would think, judging by all the triumphant rhetoric heard this week, that over 30 states had approved it. In fact, over 30 states have banned it. According to the Washington Post, which just a few weeks ago was categorizing Christians as racists, the issue is all settled and done.

It was bad enough for the Obama administration to earn an overall grade of C-minus on its level of transparency from the independent watchdog group Cause of Action. When coupled with evidence of what is being hidden, the information makes the administration look even worse. Popular provisions were put into effect immediately, such as allowing children to stay on their parent’s plan until age 26, offering “free” colonoscopies and mammograms (in truth, forcing you to pay for them in your premium, whether you get them or not), and giving women the thrill of getting contraceptives at the drugstore without paying anything. This may sound odd coming from someone who has spent his life working in political reporting, but I find it extremely sad when people can’t separate politics from the rest of their lives. I’m not talking about people getting worked up about politicians; we live in divided times, so things are bound to get heated when talking about elected officials. I’m talking about people who say “I want nothing to do with [Person X] because he is a conservative/liberal/Republican/Democrat in his personal life.” This is why I find the Orson Scott Card thing so frustrating.

Last week, President Obama told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that “we don’t have an immediate crisis in terms of debt.” It was par for the course (after all, he is almost always golfing) for the nation’s chief executive who just last year did not know the amount of our nation’s debt and made the preposterously naive statement that “a lot of it we owe to ourselves.” Apparently, our coming debt crisis is the only one Democrats do want to go to waste.

If President Obama’s rhetoric on domestic policy can be said to have a coherent theme, it involves his desire to use government to create a level playing field in which no single segment of the electorate enjoys unfair advantages or suffers disproportionate disadvantages in the pursuit of happiness. Celebrities are now upset about fracking, the injection of chemicals into the ground to crack rocks to release oil and gas. Pro golfers, golf writers, and TV commentators are up in arms that Tiger Woods was only given a 2-stroke penalty for his illegal drop on the 15th hole yesterday. Tiger said last night that he dropped his ball two yards behind his previous spot, clearly violating the rule that you must drop "as nearly as possible" to your original spot. Golf people are not happy about it. They say that the new rule is B.S. (or it´s at least being misinterpreted), and Tiger should DQ himself to save the integrity of the game.

In the 2014 budget he announced last week, Obama proposed a more accurate way of calculating the inflation rate for annual cost-of-living increases in Social Security. It’s a technical change in pursuit of honesty and good government. And if adopted, it would cause benefits to grow more slowly, though almost imperceptibly so. Only one of my six children has left New York for economic reasons but the strain of living in this expensive nanny state is weighing heavy on my other five and their families. As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.
