Departing Environmental Chief
Suggests Obama Has Failed On
Climate

Buzzfeed, by Ruby Cramer

Original Article

The Administrator of the Environmental Protection Administration announced Thursday that she would step down in a statement that implied inaction on climate change during President Obama´s first term. Jackson mentions climate change just once in her statement, saying that at the time of her nomination, she "spoke about the need to address climate change." But the rest of the statement appears to make the tacit argument that she succeeded even though that initiative failed. Jackon lists other issues on her agenda that the EPA was more successful in tackling: "air pollution, toxic chemicals and children’s health issues, redevelopment

Sigh... Jackson will just be replaced by another incompetent, know-nothing political hack.

She is most likely stepping down since the discovery of her fraudulent e-mail accounts in which she conducted business for the Bureau will now be made public. Most likely very illegal procedures will be uncovered (barely reported, however) and she will be unable to continue with her nefarious schemes to cripple small business through endless regulations issued by her Department. Those regulations are only now becoming public knowledge and businesses are in a panic over how they will be able to implement them and still operate (Hint: They won´t be able to; that´s the whole purpose, don´tcha know !) Man, I dislike these people !

Oh, c´mon... no Obama admin employee talks out of school.

I´m sure she´s upset that her plum job was given to another Friend of Obama during the post-election cycle of patronage rewards. But, if she even actually issued this statement (I´ll bet it came from the WH), it was under instructions.

This is false self-criticism in the most Soviet sense of the term. It will follow something along the lines of this tried-and-true pattern.

Obama - "well, er, uh, let me be absolutely, duh, um, er, clear! We can´t afford a repeat of this unfortunate personnel change. Ms. Jackson is right - we, as a nation (more doofus noises), must reflect and change, and we can´t have another four years of inaction on the uh, whatchamacallit, oh yeah - climate!"

New EPA Puppet: "You heard the boss... we´ve been remiss in our duty to regulate and tax industry into the trashbin of American history. Let´s put it into high gear, people!"

Is there *any* aspect of this administration based in actual reality?

This is very pleasant news as this woman redefined hack in her role as EPA admin. She´s a true believer in climate and pollution nonsense.

She made the claim that shutting down coal plants would save billions in healthcare because they´re no longer breathing, mercury, arsenic and whatever other villain is in pollution,no matter how minute the quantity.

I´m 53, so I remember things like driving down the New Jersey Turnpike when it was dark from smoke (in the middle of the day, and all conversation ended because of the incredible stink). That does not happen anymore. Nor do smog days in New York City. And the formerly open sewer Hudson River is now swimmable.

So no matter how better things get in terms of the environment, they want you to think it is getting worse.

As for greenhouse gases, talk to India and China. We are doing our part, and will soon be down to 1990 levels.

On Feb. 27, a mild, dewy morning, Alitalia Flight 681 landed at Leonardo da Vinci airport in Rome after 13 hours in the air. A balding man with gray-white wisps of thin hair stepped out of coach class. He wore thick-rimmed brown glasses, black orthopedic shoes and a dark overcoat. He had a slight limp, and his back was stiff from the long flight. His belly was a bit swollen, due to many decades of cortisone treatments to help him breathe after he had lost part of a lung as a young man.

U.S. retail sales contracted in March for the second time in three months and consumer confidence tumbled in April, a sign that tax hikes early this year have stolen momentum from the American economy. The data supports the view that the U.S. economy continues to struggle

Any moonhowler can run for office, so Anthony Weiner is fully welcome to enter the Democratic primary in hopes of convincing New Yorkers that he’s fit to serve as mayor. The one-time congressional dynamo and suicidal sexter will have a lot to prove. That his lying days are over. That he has the emotional maturity and psychic balance to lead a complex city, including in crisis. That he is interested in public service as its own reward, not to fulfill craving for attention. As a councilman and representative, as well as in a run for mayor, Weiner showed promise.

Only one of my six children has left New York for economic reasons but the strain of living in this expensive nanny state is weighing heavy on my other five and their families. As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.

AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka criticized President Obama’s FY 2014 budget for not promoting job growth while hurting seniors and federal workers. “The president sent Jack Lew to Europe to talk about, to chide them for austerity budgets; they should be investing in growth and things of that sort. It undermines our credibility when our budget here is an austerity budget.” Trumka specifically mentioned several areas of the budget he opposes, including its change to the Consumer Price Index formula used to calculate cost of living adjustments for Social Security payments.

I subscribe to the view that barring something truly unforeseeable, the Democratic nomination in 2016 is Hillary’s for the taking. There is no second Barack Obama out there to take the nomination away from her. In fact, the non-Hillary Democratic bench is pathetically weak. Hillary’s many controversies are mostly ancient history, and mostly the fault of her husband, and are unlikely to derail a general election bid. Rather, Hillary’s weakness is her time as Secretary of State, an abysmal performance which has left us weaker internationally than ever before.

Pro golfers, golf writers, and TV commentators are up in arms that Tiger Woods was only given a 2-stroke penalty for his illegal drop on the 15th hole yesterday. Tiger said last night that he dropped his ball two yards behind his previous spot, clearly violating the rule that you must drop "as nearly as possible" to your original spot. Golf people are not happy about it. They say that the new rule is B.S. (or it´s at least being misinterpreted), and Tiger should DQ himself to save the integrity of the game.

In Philadelphia, at a human abattoir on Lancaster Avenue, is where it ends, not where it starts. It starts with the perversion of language. It starts when the icons of a dissipated culture reduce a baby to a “fetus.” From there, Yeats’s blood-dimmed tide rolls rapidly in. Before long, a baby is not a person but a punishment, as President Barack Obama framed the matter in his familiar off-the-cuff iciness. Of course, to describe newborn children in their boundless possibilities and wonder would be to acknowledge, foremost, their humanity. That is why, instead, abortion enthusiasts must grope for words

With President Obama, there’s always a catch. In the 2014 budget he announced last week, Obama proposed a more accurate way of calculating the inflation rate for annual cost-of-living increases in Social Security. It’s a technical change in pursuit of honesty and good government. And if adopted, it would cause benefits to grow more slowly, though almost imperceptibly so. Republican leaders in Congress ought to be delighted since they had “championed”—Obama’s word—the idea in the first place. Then came the catch. The president’s price for adopting this gentle reform was hundreds of billions in new tax increases.
