Horne proposes arming
1 educator per school

Arizona Republic [Phoenix, AZ], by Alia Beard Rau

Original Article

Posted By:annapolis2010dad, 12/26/2012 6:21:25 PM

Arizona’s attorney general wants to arm school principals. Tom Horne says he has found the “golden mean” between allowing all teachers to carry firearms and exposing children to tragedies like the school shooting in Connecticut. He is proposing that only the principal or one other staff member at each school be trained and then allowed to carry a firearm at school. “Some have proposed teachers bringing guns to school, but I think that would create more danger than it would solve,” Horne said. “But if we did nothing, we might regret it if another incident occurs that might have been prevented.”

Comments:
There are probably more CCW teachers than are publicly know to the rest of us.

Please pay attention to instructions in RED on posting page. LCom Staff.

Perhaps offer ALL teachers concealed carry training and licensing. Even though most will not ever carry firearms into a school, the perps won´t know who has one and who doesn´t -- they will only know that each one MIGHT and that will be enough to keep them away.

Wonderful way to make sure the principal gets killed.
Have at least one teacher per day carrying concealed, and don´t offer any more information than that. Then the murderer won´t know where to start...
Create uncertainty - best way to inject rationality into a crazy person´s mind.

OK, lets quit waltzing around the mulberry bush. In order to have a well-organized militia, every able-bodies, mentally stable person between the ages of 15 and 65(BTW that´s the definition of a militia) should be carrying a gun at all times. You never know when some part of the militia will have to be called into action (such as shooting a terrorist).

For those of us who don´t want guns within reach of our looney associates may I suggest pepper spray or tasers.

Dealing today with a crazy situation...hope it doesn´t make the news...where guns would be a problem.

We already have police liaisons in the high schools here in Gilbert, AZ so why not have them armed and on the job full-time as well?

Sidwell Friends in Washington, DC has 11 armed guards on duty every single day. That is where all the big liberals send their kids. And also check into the heat our public servants pack every day for their peace of mind. The double standard is breath taking.

It was stunning for those who watched Thursday night as federal agents investigated a possible nuclear threat at Chicago’s Ogilvie Transportation Center. CBS 2´s photojournalist Lana Hinshaw-Klann happened to be at the scene and used a cell-phone camera to record agents in action. Reporter Dave Savini looks into what agents were looking for and what they found. Sources say the agents were members of the elite TSA VIPR team on the 5:04pm Union Pacific West line. They were carrying hand-held nuclear-detection devices that picked up a reading.

The Bain attack is back. This time it’s being used against Hostess Brands, the Twinkies and Wonder Bread maker that announced Friday it was closing. AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka drew the comparison in a public statement Friday. “What’s happening with Hostess Brands is a microcosm of what’s wrong with America, as Bain-style Wall Street vultures make themselves rich by making America poor,” Trumka said in a public statement. “Crony capitalism and consistently poor management drove Hostess into the ground, but its workers are paying the price."

SolarWorld will lay off as many as 37 workers from its Hillsboro plant, company officials confirmed Wednesday. The factory, which makes solar cells and panels, is suffering from a market downturn that SolarWorld blames primarily on unfair competition from China. A coalition led by the company persuaded the U.S. government to levy tariffs on Chinese imports, but loopholes remain, prices are depressed and the duties have yet to help much, a company spokesman said.

Oregon voters apparently aren't ready to flat-out legalize the growing, selling and use of marijuana, a new poll for The Oregonian shows. The poll of 405 likely voters, conducted over the past week, shows Measure 80 failing 49 percent to 42 percent, with 9 percent undecided. Proponents wrote a far-reaching measure that would create a new Oregon Cannabis Commission to buy and sell pot at state run stores, as well as license growers and suppliers. The measure also would allow anyone but minors to grow and possess limitless amounts of marijuana for personal use. Currently, possession of less than an

Another publicly subsidized green company is going under, this one -- called ReVolt Technology -- backed in Portland by city and state taxpayers. Losses on ReVolt are tiny compared to those at Solyndra Inc., the notorious California solar company that tanked after receiving a $535 million federal loan guarantee. Portland and the state of Oregon had committed $6.8 million to ReVolt, which also landed a $5 million federal grant.

It’s been Democrats’ mantra this campaign: Republicans are waging a “war on women.” But GOP Rep. Jeff Flake is flipping the script on Democrat Richard Carmona just as he surges in the Arizona Senate contest. Flake’s attack ads have raised questions about Carmona’s treatment of women, forcing the former U.S. surgeon general to play defense and address the issue in debates, press releases, news conferences and his own campaign ads.

The murder trial of abortionist Kermit Gosnell largely is being ignored by the mainstream media, even in the face of grisly testimony, such as what we heard yesterday. Life News reports: ...a former employee described how she heard a baby scream during a live-birth abortion. Abortion clinic employee Sherry West described an incident which "really freaked (her) out" and related to the jury how she heard a child who was born alive following an abortion scream.

Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

There was growing buzz over the weekend that a bipartisan agreement on gun control — a deal that would expand background checks — could hit the floor as early as this week. However, any deal could be derailed by the looming threat of a Republican filibuster involving Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. With Cruz standing proudly in the way of any gun legislation, Democrats are trying to make him pay a political price — and even a couple of high-profile Republicans are questioning his tactics.
