| Former President George H.W. Bush remains in an intensive care unit at a Houston hospital with a "stubborn fever that is slightly elevated," his spokesman told CNN on Wednesday. He has been in the intensive care unit at Methodist Hospital since Sunday, spokesman Jim McGrath said, and has been hospitalized there for over a month. McGrath said earlier Wednesday that Bush had spent Christmas with members of his family and was in good spirits. Bush was in guarded condition and on a liquid diet that took effect with his transfer to the ICU, but McGrath could not offer more details about

Up until 2008, I have said the greatest mistake American voters ever made was to cast this good man aside in favor of the arkansas pervert. Now I consider it to be the second greatest mistake... Our prayers will be with George H.W. Bush, an authenic American president. How far we have fallen.

My church and my family have started a 24 hour prayer vigil for this patriarch of the finest political family America has ever produced. The Bush family is the closest thing we have in America to a royal family. As far as I´m concerned, a Bush should should hold the Executive Branch of our government going forward , as per the constitution. All of this said, President Bush did RAISE taxes. God will punish him for that...and now is the time when the chickens have come home to roost.

This is not the time to talk about policies. This is the time to offer our prayers and support to a man that has given a lifetime of service to his country. Pres Bush was putting his life on the line in service before 99% of us were even born. So anyone wants to criticize his policies while he is lying in an ICU hospital bed and fighting for his life should maybe reexamine their own lives.

I wish him well. So far we are still allowed free speech in this country and there is no reason why people on this site should be attacked for their opinion. Lets not pretend that any of the Bush´s are conservatives, they are Rinos. We thank them for their services but Bush 41 announced the the New World Order back in ´91. I personally never want to see another Bush in any office.

BTW, let´s not "pretend" that Conservatives would denigrate a fine man who served this Country for more years than some can count, and who may be near the end of his days on this earth. It´s not "opinions" that are being "attacked", it´s the appalling lack of empathy for the Bush family.

GHWB is a genuine patriot and fine man who proved to be a pretty good president. In some alternative universe, knowing what I know now I would gladly vote for him again.
RR would have been a tough act to follow for any Republican successor. And even he made his share of mistakes, which we on this board tend to gloss over.
But now ought not be a time for politics. Thoughts and prayers for President Bush and his family.

The president golfed with White House aides Marvin Nicholson, Joe Paulsen, and Michael Brush. Last Saturday, the president played golf at the same course with Nicholson, Brush, and friend and Chicago businessman Marty Nesbitt. The outing marked his first time on the golf course since the sequester cuts went into place on March 1. The president also took in the Syracuse-Marquette NCAA tournament basketball game

No doubt there are parents who have frank, frequent, open and easy discussions with their teens about sex. I’ve never met any. I do know parents, however, who were stunned to find their 15-year-old’s birth control pills in her pocketbook. Or who came home early to discover junior and a girl they’d never met frantically buttoning up. Or who found out — when their children were grown — what really went on when Meghan said she was sleeping over at Ashley’s. Such sobering tales of teens snookering mom and dad caused mixed emotions in me — a solidly pro-choice

Last fall, Ginnette Powell traveled from her home in Boston´s Dorchester section to her old middle school in South Boston - a journey of just two miles, but one that covered a huge emotional distance. Finally, she was able to leave the painful past behind. Powell endured the explosive battle over desegregation in Boston in the 1970s. Tears come to her eyes when she talks about how it took her decades to return to the place where she never felt safe as an African-American seventh-grader."It was scary because of what you were going into, getting bricks thrown at your bus.

A few years after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, Lindalyn Adams was escorting visitors on a bus traveling down Elm Street near Dealey Plaza. “I was pointing out the John Neely Bryan cabin and the Old Red Courthouse, and suddenly I realized the whole bus was leaning towards the right as we were going close to the Texas School Book Depository, and the women [were] pointing and saying, “Is that? Is that? Is that?’” Adams recalled during an oral history interview. She knew, of course, what “that” meant. “That” was where Kennedy had been shot.

They’re big. They’re ugly. They’re noisy. And they’re coming. So get ready. The night began like many at Boorda Hall, a five-story barracks at Naval Station Great Lakes, the Navy´s premier training base on the shore of Lake Michigan in Illinois. Somebody announced a party, and the hard drinking and beer pong began. A 21-year-old Marine lance corporal, so drunk on rum and Mountain Dew she was slurring her words, went to look for Kyle Antonacci, a Navy seaman she´d been dating off and on. Antonacci soon texted his friend Mike Pineda to help him deal with her. Both men had sex with her that night. But what distinguished May 8, 2009,

The Keystone XL Pipeline has emerged as a major issue in the Massachusetts special U.S. Senate election, with environmental groups committing nearly one-third of the $1.25 million in outside money already spent on campaigns. The biggest spender so far is the League of Conservation Voters, which has already spent more than $545,000 to help elect Democratic candidate and Rep. Ed Markey, who has a strong pro-environment platform. “Our field campaign is resonating with voters across Massachusetts,” said Navin Nayak, a political specialist for the group. “The people of Massachusetts want climate change champion Ed Markey representing them.”

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank

Their attorney, Benjamin Crump, filed that paperwork at the Seminole County Courthouse, a portion of which was made public today.
