U.S. will hit debt limit on Dec. 31,

The U.S. government will hit the $16.4 trillion federal debt limit on Monday and turn to “extraordinary measures” to continue borrowing, the Treasury Department said Wednesday, beginning a countdown until Congress either passes legislation to allow for more borrowing or the government defaults on its debt. Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner said in a letter to senior lawmakers that the Treasury would begin to undertake “extraordinary measures” in order to forestall default. Geithner said the measures could create about $200 billion in additional funding available to the government – giving

Oh, not to worry. Congress will just add a few more trillion on the debt ceiling and have another deadline next year. They´ll also "fix" the fiscal cliff, by extending the deadlines another few months. That way, we who try to make financial plans and live by budgets (unlike the bozos in DC) will continue to try to make decisions in the midst of total uncertainty. Obama and all of Congress (both parties) should be fired for dereliction of duty and incompetence.

Frankly, I don´t think he gives a damn. Long term plans to damage, weaken and then reorder the country in a socialist pattern are like a bulldozer in front of which deficit, debt limit, default etc. are like bumps in the road.

Much noise will be made... and then nothing substantial will happen.

Either: the ceiling will be raised with no real cuts -- promised future cuts are not real and never materialize.

Or: the ceiling will not be officially raised, but something else will take its place (i.e. printing more money, some executive order, or nothing) and the MSM will ignore it. If that happens, then expect it to continue (and accelerate) forever since the administration will have no limits on what it can spend since there will be no consequences it needs to worry about.

0bama does not have a clue when it comes to the economy; he is asking that we give him an unlimited debt ceiling; he does not intend to stop spending. The democrats have not passed a budge in four years. Spend, spend, spend. Taxes, well, they will just raise taxes and increase spending. Americans getting all the free stuff love this man.

Boehner should have a press conference tonight and announce:
1)no more negotiations in private. Everything to be broadcast on C Span for the American public to see. Explain how the president is not negotiating in good faith and the American people deserve to know what is going on.
2)No more raising on the debt ceiling, period. The House will vote for a bill that includes raising taxes for the millionaires(got to give Obama something) and must also include significant cuts in spending.

Taxes go up 452 billion Jan 1. All Obama needs to do is match the new revenue with 3 dollars in cuts for every dollar in revenue. Then he won´t need a new spending limit and will immediately start cutting the deficit. Since they so far have only proposed 100 billion in cut next year, he only needs 1.25 trillion additional cuts for 2013.

LONDON — For the past three decades, many Britons had hoped the rigid class system that defined their country from Dickens to "Downton Abbey" was finally dying. Now they fear that class, their old bugbear, is back on the rise. From 1979, Britain was led for more than a decade by Margaret Thatcher, a grocer´s daughter, and then by John Major, the son of a music-hall entertainer. The current leader, David Cameron, is a descendent of King William IV whose Cabinet is stacked with men, like him, from the country´s toniest private schools and Oxford and Cambridge universities. From its inception, the strategy behind the Obama administration’s implementation of ObamaCare has been simple: to frontload the benefits and postpone the pain and costs of this massive government intrusion into the private sector for as long as possible. This deceitful approach enabled President Obama run for reelection in 2012 on the spurious promise of extending insurance coverage to the poor and those with pre-existing conditions without being held accountable for the problems with the law that would only become apparent in his second term. Late this afternoon, the Obama administration decided to delay for yet another year the health-care mandate that companies provide health insurance to their employees, this time to 2016. “It’s a double whammy here,” Charles Krauthammer said on Special Report tonight. Combining the recent CBO report finding that millions of Americans will choose to work less because of Obamacare and the people who will lose their jobs involuntarily as a result of the mandates, Obamacare is looking like a huge liability come November, Krauthammer explained. “They are getting tremendous complaints from small business that they can’t do this. WASHINGTON — After news broke today that the Obama administration unilaterally decided to delay the health insurance mandate for medium-sized employers until 2016, Rep. The 2016 Democratic presidential field is likely to run to the left of President Obama, partly because candidates will try to distance themselves from his political baggage while jockeying for an increasingly liberal base of voters, analysts predict. Prospective candidates and their surrogates insist it’s too early to tell what kind of standing Mr. Obama will have with voters and whether he will be seen as damaged goods the way President Bush was for Republicans in 2008. But discontent is brewing within the Democratic Party over what some see as Mr. Obama’s concessions to Republicans. Those Democratic voters will be

The emergence of Twitter as a social media goliath has unleashed gossip and speculation as a media force. The long term consequences are unknowable, but in the meantime, with a far left president with a dicey past, it is producing some highly amusing results. Last night, President Obama explained to Bob Costas of NBC Sports why he wasn´t attending the Sochi Olympics, but the substance of what he had to say was lost in the controversy that erupted on Twitter over whether or not he was stoned. Yahoo writer Mike Oz took the high road, as would nearly any journalist, and described the president as looking "sleepy."

This is according to a joint Australian and U.S. study which has looked at why there has been a slowdown in the planet’s global average surface temperature over the past decade. Their research shows that trade winds in central and eastern parts of the Pacific have caused warm surface water to sink to the ocean´s depths, reducing the amount of heat in the atmosphere.
