left note on his plan,
had same rifle as Conn. gunman

WEBSTER, N.Y.- The ex-con who lured firefighters to their deaths in a blaze of gunfire left a typewritten note saying he wanted to burn down the neighborhood and "do what I like doing best, killing people," police said Tuesday. Police Chief Gerald Pickering said 62-year-old William Spengler, who served 17 years in prison for the 1980 hammer slaying of his grandmother, armed himself with a revolver, a shotgun and a semiautomatic rifle before he set his house ablaze to lure first responders into a death trap before dawn on Christmas Eve.

2, yes the CT shooter used only the rifle to kill all 26 in the school. That was announced a week ago Saturday by the police and medical examiner. Only used a handgun on himself. CBS is right.

They had to mention that the rifle had that scary "flash suppression". But someone who was at the scene said he "saw the muzzle flash coming at him", so flash suppression obviously doesn´t do much.
But it is an "evil feature".

This Spengler guy was both a criminal and a nut case. He is almost the exact type of felonious character who most Americans purchase firearms to defend themselves against. Spengler was absolutely prohibited by the current State and Federal gun control laws from purchasing, owning, or using firearms, but those gun control laws did not stop him from getting his hands on a number of guns. Spengler was the perfect example of the old saying, when guns are banned only criminals will have guns.

No 21; I suspect the confusion comes from the fact that it was a Saiga Shotgun left in the car. One of the more popular versions of the Saiga is magazine fed and "some" might mistake it as an AR platform rifle.

This man killed his grandmother with a hammer and got out after 17 years. How many people rot in prison for lesser crimes because of political machinations in our justice system.

I graduated from high school with a girl named Arlene. Later in life she accidentally inhaled a piece of a tortilla chip. She died in the hospital of internal bleeding of the lung.
It is high time to crack down on tortilla chip purchasers and makers. Make it so that items are not sold so that those chips cannot be made any more. License via the federal government each and every purchase of such chips.
These tragedies must stop.

America’s biggest state is now getting its own Breitbart page. Or is it its second, counting Big Hollywood? Or its third, given Big Government’s content? If California is to make its way back to more liberty and less government--and America needs her to find her way back--then a Breitbart site dedicated to this proposition is a requisite. A major new Gallup survey suggests the ObamaCare sign-up numbers are not as soaring as the White House claims. The massive survey, released on Monday, shows the number of uninsured has indeed fallen to its lowest level in years, likely thanks to the Affordable Care Act. The Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index measured the share of adults without health insurance. That shrank from 17.1 percent at the end of last year to 15.6 percent for the first three months of 2014. The decline of 1.5 percentage points would translate roughly to more than 3.5 million people gaining coverage. But the numbers, released a

Kathryn Riffenburg decided on a closed casket for her baby´s funeral. She didn´t want her family to see what whooping cough, her son´s first illness, had done to 9-week-old Brady Alcaide. The nearly forgotten disease, which has in recent years afflicted thousands of Americans, left Brady´s tiny body swollen and unrecognizable. So his mother dressed him in a white baptismal suit and hat and tucked him into a tiny white casket. Brady´s burial came just four weeks after his first laugh — inspired by her version of I´m a Little Teapot — and two weeks after his family learned that he had

Former GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney has sworn off running again for elected office, but Americans have certainly heard that one before. Speculation that Romney might run again has largely been stoked by the reunion he planned to host last month in Park City, Utah, for members of his 2012 campaign and debate team and a string of recent public appearances. He has appeared on TV news shows 12 times in the past six months. That’s essentially on pace with Michigan GOP Rep. Mike Rogers, who led all national politicians last year with 26 appearances over 12 months. Romney has

WASHINGTON- Seven million people signed up, so there is an appetite for President Barack Obama´s health care law, but that doesn´t guarantee success for the country´s newest social program. Big challenges are lurking for the next enrollment season, which starts Nov. 15. Chief among them are keeping premiums and other consumer costs in check, and overhauling an enrollment process that was advertised as customer-friendly but turned out to be an ordeal. "They have demonstrated the law can work, but we are a ways off from being able to judge its success," said Larry Levitt, an expert on health insurance markets

The president gave two speeches this week, one in the Rose Garden to talk about Obamacare and one in Ann Arbor, Mich., to push minimum wage increases. What did we learn? We learned that President Obama is most comfortable in campaign mode, and his campaigning has gotten downright ugly. His Rose Garden speech was a typical self-congratulatory moment for supposedly hitting 7.1 million Obamacare sign-ups — although we know that once again, the White House is ignoring some inconvenient truths. We also learned that the president was vain enough to asked the networks to cover his speech in prime time, but

A female transgender student wants an apology from a North Carolina college for being detained by a security officer and sent home for using the women’s bathroom. The 22-year-old freshman, Andraya Williams, believes she was discriminated against during a March 19 incident at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, N.C. because of her looks. The freshman said she was leaving the restroom and going to her social studies class when a female officer stopped her and requested her student ID, according to a statement released by the Transgender Law Center. The officer then laughed while asking the student if

U.S. Senate candidate Matt Bevin spent the week defending his decision last weekend to attend an event in Corbin, Ky., that most attendees knew was a rally to legalize cockfighting in Kentucky. Bevin has said he didn´t know it was a rally supporting cockfighting and thought it was a "state´s rights" rally. After ducking other calls for comment, Bevin went on WHAS radio´s "Terry Meiners Show" on Thursday to talk about the rally, cockfighting and other things. "I´ve never been to a cockfight, I don´t condone cockfighting, but here´s the thing: I´m not going to disparage people for exercising their First Amendment rights,"
