Bad care is inevitable in the NHS
Telegraph [UK], by Harry Mount

That´s not to say it´s excusable, just that the appalling neglect of 38 patients at the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch is the logical result of the NHS´s untenable management structure. Imagine if everything at Tesco´s was free but rationed, and subject to delivery delays of several months. Then throw in the fact that there are no other free alternatives. You would have a nightmare on your hands--huge queues, attracted by the free goods, then further stretched by the long delays. Imagine how the staff would then behave--harrassed by the limitless demand of customers, but also in a tyrannical position of

Bad care or even no care is inevitable here too, unless you´re an elite politican, union member, illegal alien, armish, or even a muslim. All are exempt. See what your higher premiums are going to pay for?

FTA: imagine that the government ran Tesco´s, with absolutely no previous skill or experience in running supermarkets

None of obama minions have ANY experience in private business. They are all socialists living off of others while denigrating everyone.

At our Christmas dinner my cousins wife was going on and on about free healthcare. Her husband and brother-in-law who own their own business tried telling her that nothing is free and the costs they pay are going up and up.

Her husband business used to employ 30 people. Now under 10 since obama and the democrats came to power in 2009

One of their sons is autistic and under obamacare would have been killed when born as he is considered defective by obama - read about how other socialist countries are doing this now. Now they will be denied the care needed as their son according to obama is not useful to society. She does not understand any of this. She is in a bubble and one day it will pop to her horror.

I have a 90 year old uncle who over the years has had prostate cancer and heart bypass surgery and survived it all for over a decade. He would be denied medical care today and be left to die. obama said that to a 100 year old women that she had already lived long enough and said that they should only be given pain pills. He is as cold as they come.

My older sister worked at a home building company for almost 20 years (existed for 40+ years) until it went out of business due to the democrat economy. She is still looking for a job a year later.

My relative was saying the economy is improving rapidly...

#4, thanks for that post--it causes me to connect all these recent teary and smiley photo ops with Obamacare. I kept wondering why has Obama suddenly developed a Boehner-like ability to tear up at occasions where he would not have shown a tad of real emotion in the prior four years? Why is the Mooch allowing big Bo on her lap (a lap covered with a very expensive dress) and making him such a large part of the "show"?

Why, it´s all dress rehearsal so they can show just how sorry they are, how much they feel for those the nation can no longer treat, how much they sympathize with the crippling taxes Republicans are forcing everyone to pay. Methinks Hollywood friends have been giving them some very good acting tricks and tips. Leopards just don´t change their spots without help from a bleach specialist.

Connect for Health Colorado, the state´s Obamacare insurance exchange, is reeling after news surfaced that Christa Ann McClure, a top agency executive, will stand trial in Montana for embezzling from her previous nonprofit employer. What´s good for the goose is evidently good for the gander as Michelle Obama chats away with the womanising French president – right under her husband’s disapproving gaze. The US First Lady giggled as Francois Hollande turned his back on the leader of the free world to charm his wife at a state dinner in Washington. And while 52-year-old Barack Obama’s expression suggests he may be reconsidering his “special relationship” with France, he really is in no position to complain. Only a couple of months ago he was photographed lavishing attention on Danish premier Helle Thorning-Schmidt. The two even posed for

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius was in direct contact with President Barack Obama at least 18 times between October 2012 and October 2013, including seven occasions where her draft calendar showed Obamacare as the topic of conversation. The news appears to contradict her insistence that Obama was in the dark about problems plaguing the ill-fated healthcare.gov website in the months leading up to its October 1, 2013 launch. The Hill newspaper reported Thursday that documents released through a Freedom of Information Act request show meetings, events and phone calls where the two were together. They also show at

Fears of a return of Irish dissident terrorism to the UK mainland were raised last night after Downing Street said a wave of crude bombs sent to Armed Forces’ recruiting offices were “Northern Ireland related”. One of the “basic, but viable” devices sent to seven different military careers centres bore a Republic of Ireland postmark. Counter terrorism police said all the packages were linked and "crude" in design but "could have caused injury to others". Amidst the chaos and the posturings of the floods and the not unexpected dirty tricks of the Wythenshawe by-election, Parliament, both Lords and Commons, has united to call for legislation to criminalise smoking in cars containing a child. It reflects rather well the desire of the inhabitants of the Westminster village to be seen to be doing something about something at a time when so much they might well be doing is out of reach--either because of the progressive pre-electioneering of the Coalition or the power-grabbing of Our Masters In Brussels. Sir William Osler, the “father of modern medicine”, said that what distinguished humans from animals was the desire to take medicine. Osler died in 1919, but, like most of his brilliant aphorisms, it is still true, with the added development that now many of us take pills even if there’s nothing wrong with us. He also thought one of the first duties of the physician was to educate people not to take medicine. That idea, that medicines are potentially dangerous and should be avoided if possible, has gone out of the window--and that is a pity. We’re now seeing a

The South is descending into chaos again as the second major winter storm in three weeks walloped the region with snow, sleet and freezing rain--killing nine people, knocking out power to nearly half a million homes and canceling 3,500 flights. The White House and the Health & Human Services Department boasted Wednesday that 3.3 million Americans have signed up for private insurance coverage through marketplaces set up by the Affordable Care Act. But the administration still hasn´t said a word about how many--or how few--of those signing up on the chronically ill healthcare.gov website have paid for their insurance, and are actually covered. A MailOnline analysis of publicly available totals from five states that run their own health insurance exchanges found that on average, just 66.5 per cent of enrollees in those states have paid premiums.

What a treat for all medieval historians! More than 500 years after he was killed, the skeleton of Richard III is giving them much more reliable biographical information than they acquired over the previous half a millennium. Henry VII, his successor, and opponent at Bosworth, encouraged his court historians to produce a warped picture of Richard. Thank God, then, for the miraculous discovery of his body in a Leicester car park in 2012, and the undeniable truths it provided. Analysis of his skeleton showed the king didn’t have a hunchback exactly; he suffered from scoliosis of the spine

It´s no surprise that Barack Obama´s authoritarian streak is revealing itself at last. It was always there; clearly apparent in his rhetoric (e.g., his envy of Chinese president Xi Jin-ping´s powers), his abuse of executive orders, his threats against Congress, his sultan with fly-whisk attitudes toward his opposition, and even his vacations, which reek more of third-world trash gamboling on the Riviera than any American leader (George W.
