Nobody on the GOP bench was ready to run and Romney probably saw the cast of characters he would be up against and took the challenge. Who knows,maybe Romney didn´t want to save the Olympics either but he did.

Sorry kiddo, I don´t quite believe this. I think whatever the Chicago mob has going for it is working so well regular guys are terrified of winning against them. We can stop kidding ourselves. Something very evil is going on in our country with elections. So far the only person I know of that isn´t afraid of these bozos is Sarah. Seriously.

There is no reason to doubt this. Romney certainly did not act like someone hungry for the presidency. In any case, he ran an incredibly incompetent campaign and lost. Lots of people here and elsewhere saw it coming and tried to raise the alarm, only to be ignored or told they were damaging morale and providing aid and comfort to the opposition.

He did not, as he claimed afterwards, lose because Obama bribed and mobilized his base; presidents and other politicians -those who want to win- always bribe and mobilize their base. They always round them up and bus them to the polls. They always commit as much voter fraud as they can get away with. Does Romney really not know this? What kind of a world does he think he is living in if he doesn´t know such elementary things about electoral politics? Such naivete makes one wonder.

Now that the mainstream media have become nothing but the propaganda arm of the Democrats, no Republican will ever win the presidency who is not serious about winning and who does not run a competent campaign that can punch through the protective bubble the media always provide Democratic candidates.

I hate to feel bitter today, but where are all the Romneybots who told us during the primaries that Romney was the only one who could beat Obama? Some of them were pretty nasty.

I too wish he hadn´t run. He was the only candidate we could run who would take Obamacare off the table. He could talk all he wanted about repealing Obamcare the day he got in office, but he had no credibility that he would do such a thing.

Sarah Palin isn´t afraid to take the creeps on because her faith and trust is in a higher authority, and she knows totally in her heart that He will protect her and hers.

The idea that Romney didn´t really want to run? Really Tagg? So that wasn´t really him fund raising all over the country for over half his term, when he should have been doing his job as Gov. of MA? And that wasn´t him running all the snark to undercut his opposition in the primaries?

The truth is, I think he wanted it as badly as Al Gore did. Only the dems didn´t have their voter fraud machine in place then or Gore would have won.

Amerians wil long regret re-electing that evil evil man to a second term.

Here´s what happened folks. A year or so ago Romney said at the dinner table that he didn´t think he would run for President. That his previous attempt was not successful so he says he doesn´t feel like doing it again. Then when he and family realize that there ain´t much to choose from the Republican losers he and his brain trust decide why not do it again. I think that is what happened and it is a far cry from NOT WANTING TO RUN PERIOD. Sounds like most candidates to me.

I saw a couple of interviews a few months before the election where Ann stated that he was not planning on running again. She asked him if he could fix the the economy, he said he knew he could. So they urged him to run. So this is not some new revelation.

So, he was perfectly willing to run hard against Republicans, and practcially call Newt the devil, while Newt was the only one with a sharp anti liberal message.

Then he kills newt, and calls obama a "nice guy." Go figure. I wish he hadn´t run either. If we had lost with Newt, at least we´d have gone down swinging with a very plain anti liberal message.

If Romney didn´t want to be president, he got his wish. At least he kept a lot of better candidates out of the race.

#8 - no Republican will win the Presidency again because they only run RINOs, and why vote for a RIanO when you can vote for the real thing.

The Repubs are going to have a very difficult time getting back the many they have insulted and disintermediated in 2012. If Boehner ends up Speaker again they lose the House in 2014, and zippy has 2 years of party down to finish the destruction.

Please - give me a break. Romney was running the second Obama won his first term. The man never stopped campaigning. He immediately laid the groundwork for his campaign. That was his biggest strength - his massive campaign infrastructure he had been building since day one.

Newt Gingrich, who got slimed nonstop by Romney in Iowa, his record of fiscal discipline completely distorted, must be delighted to hear this. /s

Spot on #1. This election revealed two things. 1, How dumbed down this country is. 2. How corrupt the election process ( counting votes) is now. Mitt should have won by reagan proportions but I don´t think reagan himself could have done any better with the way society is now. As far as Mitt not wanting to run?? I can see him being a little reluctant because of his wealth and values that I´m sure he knows the country is lacking.

#3 nailed it. There really was no one else remotely viable. Paul? Perry? Bachman? Pawlenty? Cain? You think any of them would have done as well?

To paraphrase Churchill, Romney was the worst candidate--except for all the others.

Next time we have a lot of great choices, all of whom were too young this time.

B.S. The Mutt couldn´t help himself. He´s been running for President after he decided not to get trounced in a re-election bid for Guv of MA. For someone so disinterested in running, he did some dirty tricks against his primary opponents... or was that his flying monkeys?

Tagg, don´t. He wanted to run, he was working on it from 2008 on. He ran a decent campaign, but he had some really bad advisers. That and the media was more against him than even George W. Bush. He couldn´t say anything without it being reported as a "gaffe".

Add to that the "purists" who sat out and there was enough wiggle room to pull of systematic vote fraud. The Democrats won by cheating. To make excuses for you father is to give the Democrats cover. Just stop.

#11 - As a Romney supporter, I was in denial about the nastiness at first, but was then attacked personally & viciously by the #1 Romneybot - and the attack was out of nowhere and completely without merit. It was very strange - never has a Republican candidate had such a team of barracudas here. Some of the anti-Roms were equally as vicious, though - just less seemingly organized and professional.

And it is SO laughable to think one of the other front-runners had a better chance. Sanctorum - surely you jest! And Newtie is brilliant, but he would have been pulverized to smithereens, I have no doubt.



As for the article, Tagg may be exaggerating, but I´ll take his word for it.

The Romneys (son´s big mouth)and the Bushes (big boogaloo about a pregnancy) all need to go away. The republican party needs a cleansing and renewal. Right now, they will never win another election until they are willing to get down in the mud with the press and dems on a daily basis.

If you wannna be on the up and up and take the high road, then prepare to lose for a loooong time. Nasty begets nasty. It´s the only thing these progressive nation killers understand and respect.

Dittos, #31. The GOP has to stop playing squeaky clean...the media wants to broadcast a spectacle, a fight...instead, Republicans give them logical argument and 87-point plans for prosperity. Start calling Dems stupid, drop a few F-bombs, promise thirty-something women a "Daddy government", and the low info types will being to take your politics seriously. They´ll never bother to know what you actually do after elected.

Repubs seem to be strong when fighting Repubs and weak when fighting Dems. Strange. On LCom during the primaries I actually thought the viciousness and nasty attacks from Romneybots against Palin,etc would be a good indication of how the election would go..that Romney would fight. Nooooo. Again, strong against Repubs and weak against Dems. sigh. We need a cleansing, as others have noted.
