‘Assault’ — The Democrat-Media
Complex Strikes Again

PJ Media, by Michael Walsh

Original Article

Posted By:Judy W., 12/23/2012 6:18:46 AM

For unbridled bias, ignorance and animus, this Reuters story on firearms has to be read to believed. Let’s start with the headline: Gun enthusiasts pack shows to buy assault weapons In case you’re slow on the uptake, the story contains no fewer than thirteen uses of the word “assault,” all of them used incorrectly. The idea is to get the reader to think that enraged gun nuts all across America are lining up to buy machine guns in order to “assault” a particular target of their ire.

Comments:
You´ve got to look at the article for the picture of the Hello Kitty AR-15.

Once again, the comments after the article say more than the article itself. One pseudointellectual buffoon in particular catches my eye. Like so many others, he has made up his mind and is inventing, ignoring or distorting real facts to justify it.
Thats fine, as long as his sophomoric opinions arent taken seriously. If we go with his desires and are wrong, it will be too late to correct. A very unwise strategy when trying to preserve this increasingly fragile condition we used to call freedom.

The target is and always will be the 300 million fire arms legally and constitutionally "kept and borne" by US citizens. The rest is just window dressing.

Too many people (who don´t bother to research it) think that the AR in AR-15 stands for Assault Rifle or Automatic Rifle.

It doesn´t. It stands for ArmaLite (dot com), the company that makes this rifle.

And the 15 is the model number - not the number of rounds fired at once or in rapid succession (unless you just have a really practiced trigger finger).

Can´t any good j-school grad get this right? It took me 35 seconds to get this information.

Voters capable of putting a character like Obama in the presidency the first time and then re-electing him for a second term are capable of anything. Banning "assault weapons" will be a piece of cake for such people and their representatives in Congress. It´s going to happen, regardless of the wisdom or constitutionality of the thing. It is, of course, a symbolic act to "ban assault weapons." Everyone except most advocates of such a measure knows that. It is also the camel´s nose in the tent of a crusade to restrict the private ownership of ALL firearms, including the handguns with which the vast majority of homicides and crimes are committed.

Many who complain about liberals, Leftists, Democrats, journalists and the media do not seem to realize how bad things really are. The situation is far worse than they appear to realize. We are dealing with softies and sissies and do-gooders who are perfectly prepared to ban ANYTHING that alarms or offends them in any way. Their whole approach to politics might even be said to be one of regulation. The concept of liberty means little or nothing to them except when it comes to pornography, profanity, sexual perversion and promiscuity, abortion on demand and slanders and defamation of America, Christianity, and white males of European origin. It is barking at the moon to talk to such people of liberty in any other sense. They do not fear big government and centralization of power, they LONG for it because they think it will make life easier and safer for them. They will not hesitate one second to trade liberty for equality.

"At all three shows the attendees were overwhelmingly white men, with some women and very few ethnic minorities."

Sometimes you wonder if these journo-clowns WANT a civil war. The comment makes no sense considering that minorities do most of the gun crime in the country.

What´s their fixation on magazine capacity? You load your magazine and carry a pocket full of extras. If there is no opposing fire, all you need to do is insert another one. Actually, a maniac can kill children all day long with a single-shot weapon if he is the only one carrying a weapon. These people are know-nothings with a license to print their lies and distortions. But, of course, misleading the public is the intention.

Let´s start with the fact that President Clinton asked for money from congress to place cops in schools.

This was one year after Columbine and he referenced that massacre is his request for funds.

Reply 10 - Posted by: pearlyjo, 12/23/2012 11:05:59 AM     (No. 9080610)

Perhaps it´s time to consider some regulation on journalists. Seriously, how about the requirement of a license to have your articles published, and there should definitely be a mental health background check and a loooooong waiting period, say, when the smoke clears, or people have been allowed to mourn properly.
I believe there would be some in the media that would fail these requirements: Keith Olbermann, Chris Matthews, definitely that DUI guy Donaldson. I´m for it. We must suppress the press.
But see, that would infringe on their 1st Amendment rights and, well, I support their 1st Amendment rights even when I think the press has been tasteless, mislead, obfuscated, created "news" and downright lied. I don´t believe all people in the press are like that, I know it´s just a few truly bad apples.
Wish they could see that clearly on the 2nd Amendment.

There will be failures and setbacks, just as there will be successes and breakthroughs. Yes — failures and setbacks, and successes and breakthroughs. The economist Thomas Sowell has just released a new book entitled Intellectuals and Race. (Snip) AmSpec: In the book you have a definition of “multiculturalism.” Can you talk about that and its implications? Sowell: The central premise of multiculturalism is that no culture is superior to another. The proponents of this draw conclusions such as it is wrong for school teachers to insist that black kids from the ghetto speak standard English. The idea that no culture is superior is another fact-free premise. If you look at the actual history of any society, they borrow from other societies.

It’s the easiest thing in the world to be a pessimist, and the least American. We’re optimists, and as tough as things are, as many skirmishes as we’ve lost, we haven’t lost this country to the left quite yet. If you had to choose between being them or us, you’d be crazy to choose being them. We’re going to win, and America is going to rise again. Pessimism is a cop-out, an excuse to do nothing and wait for the end instead of figuratively fixing bayonets and charging head-long into the enemy.
