The truth is that
politicians are telling lies

Telegraph [UK], by Janet Daley

Original Article

Posted By:ketchuplover, 12/23/2012 1:54:07 AM

Was 2012 the year when the democratic world lost its grip on reality? Must we assume now that no party that speaks the truth about the economic future has a chance of winning power in a national election? With the results of presidential contests in the United States and France as evidence, this would seem to be the only possible conclusion. Any political leader prepared to deceive the electorate into believing that government spending, and the vast system of services that it provides, can go on as before – (snip) – was propelled into office virtually by acclamation.

Comments:
It seems that our problem with lying, deceptive politicians has become common in Western democracies. Severely restrict their benefits, institute term limits, pass the proposed amendment that requires politicians to abide by the same laws they enact...and maybe we will have made a start on returning America to a time when it was led by civil SERVANTS.

From the MagnaCarta on we have taken lessons from England. With respect, borne from their history of courage in the face of adversity,
they are making a mistake and trying valiantly to warn us. We have missed a chance, Romney was a good man-had it all- a beautiful family, financially secure, and a proven politician on the world stage. He attempted to include the Tea Party with the Ryan pick but failed to follow up with enlisting them in his quest.

The constitutional republic, the U.S.A., is dead. The cancer has devoured it. All hope is lost. We can´t pray, "God help us." for we, as a nation, have abandoned Him. Perhaps some bit of good will rise of of the ashes.

She´s right. What began as a banking crisis is now a political one. And it´s a full blown crisis and not simply a challenge because our politicians lie to get elected. We´re in deep doo doo because more than half of us believe the lies.

There was a time when the lies wouldn´t stand and mostly good people wouldn´t dare to utter them in the first place. Now the truth is shouted down and labeled hatred. Basic math is double plus ungood.

There have been ZERO cuts in government spending in decades.

Washington and the Media report that there are “cuts” in spending.
THEY LIE!

Reductions in the GROWTH of spending ARE NOT CUTS!
It’s more money! That’s why we have to borrow more.

When will America demand that..

The past two days have revealed the dangerous ramifications of the narrow-minded foreign policy elite in Washington, and a media establishment that has for so much of President Obama’s tenure accepted the statements of the administration as gospel. (Snip) If this is the sort of foreign policy anticipation that the establishment delivers, it’s little surprise that no one trusts America’s self-styled policy elites any more. They are too used to judging the world according to the patterns toward which they are already biased, as opposed to seeing it as it is.

President Obama has made liberal use of "executive action" throughout his presidency, and pledged to make even more use of executive action in this year´s State of the Union speech. He seems to think that because Republicans don´t want to implement his agenda, he can go around Congress. The Heritage Foundation is out with a new report on President Obama´s executive actions, titled "An Executive Unbound," finding that "abusive, unlawful, even potentially unconstitutional unilateral action has been a hallmark of the Obama Administration." They´ve also compiled a list of the top ten abusive executive actions taken by the President.

For much of his time in office, President Obama has been accused by a mix of conservative hawks and liberal interventionists of overseeing a dangerous retreat from the world at a time when American influence is needed most. The once-hopeful Arab Spring has staggered into civil war and military coup. China is stepping up territorial claims in the waters off East Asia. Longtime allies in Europe and in the Persian Gulf are worried by the inconsistency of a president who came to office promising the end of the United States’ post-Sept. 11 wars. America´s ruling class has been experiencing more pushback than usual lately. It just might be a harbinger of things to come. Specially equipped police cars even track cars parked on the street or even in driveways. This much we know about President Obama’s three-day weekend at Sunnylands, the luxurious 200-acre estate near Palm Springs, Calif., that has become something of a West Coast Camp David: He has played golf with three buddies, and planned to binge on TV. Via Matt Lewis, here’s Maverick once again demonstrating that “cordial relationship” in politico-speak means “two people who can’t publicly admit to hating each other but obviously do.” And it’s a cheap shot. Cruz’s point yesterday at CPAC was that Dole, McCain, and Romney lost because they weren’t conservative enough. That’s not because they’re gutless — he said specifically that they were “good” and “decent” men — but because they’re not committed, full-throated ideologues, even less so when they’re fighting for purple states in a national election. We can debate whether that’s true but there’s nothing offensive in raising the subject.

What’s been said of confession — that it is good for one’s soul but bad for one’s reputation — can also be true of testifying to Congress, so Lois Lerner has chosen to stay silent. Hers, however, is an eloquent silence. The most intrusive and potentially most punitive federal agency has been politicized; the IRS has become an appendage of Barack Obama’s party. Furthermore, congruent with exhortations from some congressional Democrats, it is intensifying its efforts to suffocate groups critical of progressives, by delaying what once was the swift, routine granting of tax-exempt status. One of the most seismic changes in American politics over the last decade has been the emergence of a sharp generational split among the electorate. The Democratic Party owes its success in the last two presidential elections almost entirely to overwhelming support among the very young, which has overcome continued conservatism among older voters. The Pew Research Institute has dominated the field of exploring the ideological cleavages among different generations. And its latest survey shows again how the liberalism of the youngest voting cohort, millennials, remains firm, and likely to continue to recast the electorate. A few charts from the survey
