A young boy and girl died in a fire this morning after they and two other children were left home alone in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, officials say. The girl, 2, and the boy, 3, were found in a back bedroom after firefighters cut through burglar bars on the brick and stone two-flat in the 6400 block of South Paulina Street. (Snip) A hot plate being used for heat sparked the fire while the four children, alone in the apartment, slept in two bedrooms, according to fire officials. Police said the children´s mother and aunt

Is it MSNBC or The View? Hard to tell today as The View´s own Barbara Walters literally and figuratively kissed up to Vice President Joe Biden during his appearance on the show. Walters welcomed Biden by declaring there´s not "much doubt that you´re a superb Vice President." Biden, the gracious guest, brought gifts for the show´s hosts which led to this awkward exchange. Is one allowed to kiss a Vice President?" Biden enthused, "Oh, I´d love that." The audience whooped it up as the two shared an embrace. Walters then touched his cheek and insisted, "I don´t want you to

A trove of Clinton White House records long processed for release remains hidden from public view at the Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock — even though the legal basis initially used to withhold them expired more than a year ago. The papers contain confidential advice given to or sought by President Bill Clinton, including communications with then-first lady Hillary Clinton, and records about people considered for appointments to federal office. About 33,000 pages of documents are involved, according to the National Archives, which runs the library. Under the Presidential Records Act, such records can be withheld for up to

"No. 1, let´s make sure we´re giving America a raise," Obama said. It has the makings of a royal mess for “King Barack.” Monday morning’s Supreme Court argument about the Environmental Protection Agency’s authority to regulate greenhouse gases went badly for the Obama administration — so much so that the real question before the justices seemed to be how severe the EPA’s loss would be. The administration’s solicitor general, Donald Verrilli, pleaded with the justices to recognize the “urgent problem” of climate change, because the “threat to future generations gets worse” with each passing year.
