Kerry is ‘respected in every corner’
Boston Herald, by Kimberly Atkins

Original Article

Posted By:JoniTx, 12/22/2012 12:49:32 PM

WASHINGTON — With apologies to Jay-Z, President Obama has 99 problems, but John Kerry ain’t one. With a trip over the fiscal cliff all but inevitable, growing opposition to other rumored Obama appointment choices and a potentially bruising gun control battle on the president’s plate — at least Obama can take the gloves off when it comes to Kerry’s road to confirmation. First, Kerry will go before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, which he currently chairs. Then, he’ll face the full Senate — full of folks with whom Kerry has worked for decades. Republicans call Kerry “Mr. Secretary.”

Kerry is not respected in our corner either, not for his throwing his medals away, not for his cheating on his taxes by mooring his boat in another state, not for his dovelike stands, etc, etc.

Horse Face Kerry is not, repeat, is not, respected in the military ranks nor in the military communities.

Sounds to me as thought the author has the sane warm fuzzy feeling down her leg for Kerry as Chris Matthews has for 0bama.

I didn´t even know the Senate had a working committee of Foreign Relations. I thought it was like the Senate Budget Committee that never meets.

A question that will never be asked: Senator Kerry, you were awarded 3 Purple Hearts during you 4 months in Vietnam. As Secretary of State, if you suffered from a stomach flu and possible mild concussion, do you think that you would be able to testify about the murder of our ambassador two weeks later?

Kimberly, you´re totally full of, well whatever it is, it isn´t truth!

This is one corner who loathes John Kerry and has lost all respect for those members of congress who approve of this nomination.

You may or may not believe the "swiftboaters" (I do), but his actions regarding the VVAW, his medal throwing/not throwing, his false testimony under oath in front of congress regarding atrocities, and his unapproved discussions with North Vietnam are all acts which should have landed him in jail, not congress.

Of course in either place he still consorts with criminals!

The Senate has been described as a club, and clubbiness is why the traitor Kerry will easily be confirmed.

This club attitude, however, needs to be eradicated, in the interests of the American people-- preferably by Tea Party or conservative newcomers. November 2014 will come soon enough. Maybe we´ll get some good news in that election.

When Republicans call Kerry "Mr. Secretary," it is not in tribute to his wisdom and competence but rather a taunt about his lack of them, and to point out his obvious long-standing drooling over the thought of obtaining a Cabinet post.

Truly, one of the least qualified candidates for this post in my lifetime.

Didn´t the last time the media and Kerry tangled with the Swift Boaters teach them a lesson? Spineless cowards can´t stand up against real vets. And I also seem to remember the meme in O´s first campaign that ´finally, the world will respect us again´. What I want to know is, where is that respect? All I see is the world laughing their well dressed fannies off at the boy wonder. What they had against Bush was a combo of envy that he was Presidential in every sense, and a healthy uncomfortable fear that he meant what he said and said what he meant. Unlike Obama.

Consider the source. Atkins is one of two token lefties who write for the Boston Herald.

She can be counted on to write very favorable stuff about Democrat office holders, especially stories about Gov Deval Patrick, her fellow AA.

Peter Gelzinas is the other Herald leftie, about the only South Boston writer of that ilk.

“I think you have to go back centuries to find someone with the same gravitas that he brings to the job,” said Boston University professor and former U.S. Ambassador to Tanzania Charles Stith.

“He will be respected in ?every corner of the world.”
--------------------------

And just who, pray tell, is Charles Stith? Besides a Boston University professor and the former U.S. Ambassador to Tanzania? Thanks to the internet and Google, it is easy to find out.

It is also easy to refresh one´s memory about John Kerry´s despicable behavior during the Vietnam war and the so-called Winter Soldier investigation. Terrible slanders were voiced by Kerry and his buddies against U.S. troops. Claims were made that atrocities and butchery of civilians by American soldiers were routine and that they were the result of orders. These claims were thoroughly investigated by the U.S. military. Many of those who testified changed their stories, retracted them, admitted they were speculations, could not give substantiating details, etc. Not one single criminal prosecution could even be initiated as a result of exhaustive inquiry into the validity of these slanderous allegations of commonplace war crimes committed on orders.

Kerry and others lied about this. Anyone acquainted with the story of his Purple Hearts has no doubt he lied and exaggerated to obtain them. Practically all the men who knew and served with Kerry in Vietnam despised him as a schemer and phony. He is a gigolo. And he is not the brightest bulb in the Senate, which presently does not contain very much mental wattage to begin with.

Then there is the $7 million dollar yacht out of state docking to avoid $500,000 Massachusetts taxes story...

I´ve long reconciled myself to Jon as SOS - given that Hillary had so sullied the position that she would be such an easy act to follow. I was not, however, ready to see him as Sec Def - given his appalling record with the military.

So with Susan Rice´s crash-n-burn opening the slot for Lurch (who would also be a fine WH butler btw) and thus opening a vacancy in the Senate for another Scott Brown run, I can live with the nomination.

The first family attended Easter services Sunday at the Nineteenth Street Baptist Church, a Northwest Washington congregation that welcomed the Obamas on the eve of the president’s first inauguration. The Obamas’ motorcade left the White House shortly before 10 a.m. (Snip) The motorcade pulled up to the church, about four miles away, just after 10. The first family arrived through a tented entrance and sat in the second pew in a mostly, but not completely filled church, joining an estimated 250 others. The president wore a light khaki suit. The first lady was wearing a cream dress and sweater. Daughters

CLEARWATER — In the mid-1970s, Wayne Phillips saw a television program telling the story of the Shroud of Turin, a centuries-old linen cloth that bears the image of a crucified man. At first, he was miffed. Years of Catholic schooling — Jesuit High School in Tampa and Notre Dame University — and he had never known about this artifact? (He would later learn that it was a delicate subject at the Vatican.) A doctor, he has a curious mind. A mind shaped by logic and by science. But as a Catholic, he understands some beliefs are still a mystery. He

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and baby Prince George flew into Australia´s capital Canberra on Sunday night and made sure to co-ordinate their family colours of royal blue. The Royal Family stepped off the plane as a trio, Kate in an above-the-knee Stella McCartney dress, which matched George´s knit cardigan and William´s blue checked tie. After walking off the plane, Prince William shook hands with the Governor General of Australia, Sir Peter Cosgrove at Fairbairn Airport. The premature presidential polls have started rolling out and are consistent: The race for the White House is as much a fantasy as “Game of Thrones” — filled with as many off-the-mark, off-their-rocker relatives and pretender-contenders to the throne as any “Song of Ice and Fire": REPUBLICANS -Jeb Bush, Son of George the First, brother of George the Second -The Good: Last-name recognition - The Bad: Last-name recognition: Brother Bush’s illegal war and the collapse of the economy. The Ugly: The father, the son and the holy “Good God! — not them again!” The Advice: Get out and go find

WASHINGTON — IT’S weird to be jealous of your car. But I am. Men look at my car with such naked lust, their eyes devouring the curves and chrome, that I often feel as though I’m intruding on an intimate moment. Women like it, too. They sometimes grin and give it a thumbs up as it growls by, and one girlfriend fondly refers to it as “the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Goddess car.” But the icon evokes a special feeling in men. It’s the Proustian madeleine of cars, stirring old dreams and new. Guys sometimes follow in the American beauty’s

California Unemployment Holds

California’s unemployment rate is rotten and holding steady. In March, according to the Los Angeles Times, the rate was 8.1%. In February, it was exactly the same. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the state only added 11,800 net new jobs in March, many of them in construction, government, education, and health services. The greatest gains were in professional and business services, with 3,100 new positions. But the jobs numbers in hospitality, manufacturing, and leisure dipped, and the biggest drop came in financial activities, as the slowing rate of mortgages forced banks to fire employees. The field of finance

Morgado is the star of Son of God, by executive producers Mark Burnett and wife Roma Downey, which continues to thrive in theaters, pulling in $59 million since its debut Feb. 28. Downey believes there will be a "spike" in attendance at theaters this weekend because of the spiritual holiday for a film that has already proved a box-office force. "People are in that head-space and in that heart-space. It´s that time of the year where people are much more reflective and much more open to connecting with

SCARBOROUGH, Maine- John C. Houbolt, an engineer whose contributions to the U.S. space program were vital to NASA´s successful moon landing in 1969, has died. He was 95. Houbolt died Tuesday at a nursing home in Scarborough, Maine, of complications from Parkinson´s disease, his son-in-law Tucker Withington, of Plymouth, Mass., confirmed Saturday. As NASA describes on its website, while under pressure during the U.S.-Soviet space race, Houbolt was the catalyst in securing U.S. commitment to the science and engineering theory that eventually carried the Apollo crew to the moon and back safely. His efforts in the early 1960s are largely

Democrats have a problem and everyone knows it. President Obama calls it a “congenital disease.” If they can’t control it, Obama could spend the final years of his presidency battling not only a Republican House but also a Republican Senate. Democrats don’t vote in midterm elections. That’s an exaggeration, of course, but the core of the Democratic coalition is made up of many people who turn out to vote only in presidential elections. The Republican coalition — older and whiter — suffers less from midterm falloff. So much has been made of the building blocks the president assembled to win his

Tens of thousands gathered for a weekend of Colorado cannabis-themed festivals and entertainment, from a marijuana industry expo called the Cannabis Cup at a trade center north of downtown, to 4/20-themed concerts at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheater — acts include Slightly Stoopid and Snoop Dog — to a massive festival in the shadow of the state capitol where clouds of cannabis smoke are expected to waft at 4:20 p.m. MDT Sunday.

The Assemblywoman is feisty, unflappable, stays on message, goes at Hayes hard, and comes out looking great. A terrific segment and a good interview by Hayes, amazingly enough. The best part was when she left him flat-footed right at the end after catching him with the slaughter question. Although Hayes salvages the moment for himself with the barbecue crack. For Hillary Clinton, having her own baby grandchild to kiss on the campaign trail, could be one of the biggest boosts to her possible presidential election campaign. Although the former Secretary of State and First Lady has not said if she will run in 2016, the arrival of her first grandchild will soften her image, analysts have said. While Chelsea only revealed her pregnancy on Thursday, supporters of her mother have already started cooing over a possible baby in the White House. With the Clintons having a near-royal status in the U.S., the announcement of a new arrival due this fall has sent

GREENSBORO, Ga. — Golf holes the size of pizzas. Soccer balls on the back nine. A mulligan on every hole. These are some of the measures — some would say gimmicks — that golf courses across the country have experimented with to stop people from quitting the game. Golf has always reveled in its standards and rich tradition. But increasingly a victim of its own image and hidebound ways, golf has lost five million players in the last decade, according to the National Golf Foundation, with 20 percent of the existing 25 million golfers apt to quit in the next few years. People under 35 have especially spurned the game, saying it takes too

That was quite a victory dance President Obama did Thursday while claiming Obamacare is “working” because eight million people have now supposedly signed up for the health care program. He even indulged in some less-than-subtle mockery of Republicans - and by extension the majority of Americans who have disapproved of Obamacare since before it became law. "The repeal debate is and should be over,” Obama said, taking a dig at Republicans who are “going through, you know, the stages of grief … anger and denial and all that stuff …” But a president who is viewed by most Americans as less

Hi, everybody. For millions of Americans, this time of year holds great meaning. Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. These holy days have their roots in miracles that took place long ago. And yet, they still inspire us, guide us, and strengthen us today. They remind us of our

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million. Bundy, however, insists that since his family has been using the land since the 1870s, Uncle Sam can´t collect the grazing fees. A tense standoff developed this week after

WASHINGTON--Rushing to an afternoon vote last month, Sen. Ted Cruz hopped the underground tram to the U.S. Capitol from his office across the street. The Texan planted his black ostrich cowboy boots in the middle of the small subway car without getting so much as a nod from the other senators--Republican or Democrat--amiably chatting or huddled in their seats. Mr. Cruz finds himself standing alone a lot these days. His response to the cold shoulders: "The establishment despised Ronald Reagan" before he became president, "but the people loved him." In a speech earlier this week, Lisa O. Monaco’s full, prepared text is available here. She presented the speech, entitled “Countering Violent Extremism and the Power of Community,” at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government on April 15. Monaco began her remarks by eloquently describing the lives tragically lost last year during the Boston Marathon bombings. Interestingly, the Harvard grad failed to mention the religion or the motive of brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan

Conservative columnist Ann Coulter — who used her talk show platform in the last presidential election cycle to campaign hard for former Massachusetts Gov. She made the suggestion during a discussion on Sean Hannity’s radio show while speaking of her new book, “Never Trust a Liberal Over 3-Especially a Republican.” Ms. Coulter also addressed the question of Mr. Romney’s shortcomings by saying that his 2012 loss wasn’t entirely his fault. “I think too much blame, not only in this
