At News Conference, Reporters Skip Past
Gun Control and Face Instant Criticism

New York Times, by Ben Sisario

The harshest judges of those in news media are often others in the news media, and, with the benefit of Twitter, that intrajournalistic watchdog role can be performed simultaneously with the journalism being criticized. Case in point was the White House news conference on Wednesday afternoon, when President Obama made a forceful announcement in response to the massacre of children last week in Newtown, Conn. He said he was directing Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. to lead an effort “to come up with a set of concrete proposals”

Once we learn that Joe Biden is going to head a ´Blue Ribbon Commission´, we know that nothing further is going to be done. So let´s move on to the next subject.

Forceful announcement? Like Obama did in the second debate n the topic of Benghazi (How dare you question how inept I am) or his post-election "bring it on" comment about someone named Susan Rice. The Times reverential treatment of this false messiah is sickening. Obama is a joke, but this joke is on us.

Joe Biden couldn´t win the Blue Ribbon at a 4H hog event. His elevation to V.P. and his long wasted time in the Senate confirms that the "Slouching to Gammorah" of Robert Bork is true.

Obama doesn´t do very well when he´s off script. Lots of umms and aahhs.

How dare the media have more to inquire about than what the WH propaganda team wants told.

Chances of my taxes going through the roof come Jan 1, 100. Chances of me getting gun down by a maniacal lunatic with a scary looking gun, less than 1/308,000,000. So which one is the most relevant to the ordinary citizen? Obambi is dropping on his knees and thanking the Almighty for dropping this golden distraction in his lazy lap. He can photo-op the Hades out of the massacre while getting a total pass on the real devastation about to hit us.

Progressives cannot stand to have their views challenged in any manner. Mostly because their views have no rational basis and cannot be defended. The easiest way around that problem is to shut down questions and debate. This classic totalitarian governance.

Reporters could stick to the script if there were any news conferences on held on a regular basis. Since Obama is so unavailable to unscripted questions from the media, reporters are bound to take advantage of any news conference to ask the questions they want.

Has there ever been a more useless foolhardy Veep than Joe Biden. Seriously, this guy has accomplished n-o-t-h-i-n-g in his life. He`s been a political hack his entire adult life. Nobody in DC can point to a single accomplishment. He is like John Boehner, a climber. Got there by being around forever. Dan Quayle has more knowledge in one fold of his brain than Biden has in his fat head.

Some on the Left call Obama a God. Obama can`t be God because God would have the character to realize he made a mistake when he created Joe Biden and would have cast him aside instantly when his name was considered for such an important position.

We are living through embarrassing time to say the least.

AUSTIN – Attorney General Greg Abbott and Sen. Wendy Davis are ramping up their battle over the border in the governor’s race after he cited Rio Grande Valley criminal cases in comparing corruption in the region to that of a third-world country. Davis’ campaign first denounced the reference last week, when Abbott in unveiling his border security plan cited instances including a bribery case involving drug dealers in referring to “creeping corruption” that “resembles third-world country practices that erode the social fabric of our communities and destroys Texans trust and confidence in government.” The ante was upped after The Monitor in McAllen

The unemployment rate fell in January, which ought to be good news. But it isn’t. Over the past decade we’ve fallen into a strange and puzzling wonderland of opposites, where “economic recovery” comes with no growth and unemployment rates drop but people aren’t working. Such a wonderland was discovered by Alice in Lewis Carroll’s playful tale. “If I had a world of my own,” Alice said, “everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is because everything would be what it isn’t.” President Obama lives in Alice’s world. He has company, his own council of economic advisers and a Congress ready

Advertisements for Manhattan Mini Storage are the wallpaper of New York City, and they frequently contain beef-witted anti-Republican and leftish invective of one sort or another, e.g. “Vote your conscience in this next election. Or just vote Republican.” It is banal stuff and, given the local political conditions, cowardly, too. But if there is one thing that New Yorkers love, it is being flattered by having their biases endorsed. I was a bit taken back by the company’s current billboard in Tribeca: “The French aristocracy never saw it coming either.” Patting Manhattanites on the head for being good little Democratic doggies

To really understand what’s going on with the American economy, don’t look at the headlines. Don’t look at the unemployment rate or the trade balance or the deficit. Don’t even look at what’s happening today at all: Look at what happened 46 years ago. And what happened then? Fewer Americas were being born, points out Harry S. IN 1930, in the darkening valley of the Great Depression, John Maynard Keynes wrote an essay on “Economic Possibilities for Our Grandchildren,” which foresaw a much happier future — one of growth, abundance and the steady decline of full-time work. Eventually, he suggested, civilization might settle on a 15-hour workweek, with three hours of daily labor being sufficient “to satisfy the old Adam in most of us.” Compared with its Depression-era baseline, much of Keynes’s optimistic vision was prophetic. But the universal 15-hour workweek is not exactly with us yet. Instead, a different trend seems to be emerging, in which well-educated

When Leigh asked a native why that was, the man told him, "In Russia only two types of people smile: idiots and rich people—and rich people don´t walk on the street." For Russians, a smile in public is not the polite expression that Americans reflexively offer strangers on the street. A smiling person must have a good reason for doing it, and it should be obvious what that reason is. When people smile without hesitation—for no reason—Russians find

The theme among a bevy of challengers seems to be that Cornyn is a CINO, a conservative in name only. This is not just counter-intuitive but counter-factual. Various ratings — liberal and conservative — have agreed on one thing, Cornyn´s conservative credentials are genuine. Not conservative? The emergence of Twitter as a social media goliath has unleashed gossip and speculation as a media force. The long term consequences are unknowable, but in the meantime, with a far left president with a dicey past, it is producing some highly amusing results. Last night, President Obama explained to Bob Costas of NBC Sports why he wasn´t attending the Sochi Olympics, but the substance of what he had to say was lost in the controversy that erupted on Twitter over whether or not he was stoned. Yahoo writer Mike Oz took the high road, as would nearly any journalist, and described the president as looking "sleepy."
