Obama, Reid slam
brakes on gun control

Washington Examiner [DC], by Byron York

Original Article

With President Obama’s announcement of a commission to study and recommend ways to reduce gun violence, the two most important Democrats in government — Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid — have both indicated a desire to slow the momentum toward gun control in the wake of the Newtown, Connecticut school shootings. The president’s decision to appoint a blue-ribbon panel — the classic Washington ploy to defuse and delay consideration of an issue — along with Reid’s inaction on the gun question will undoubtedly frustrate many in their party who want immediate action. Obama seemed to anticipate

Or they´ve indicated a desire to work around congress. That´s Obama´s best bet at getting his way.

What´s congress got to do with it? That´s not the way things get done any more. Nepolitano and the Public Safety Czar are coming up with the way to solve the liberals´ gun problem.

Every AR-15 in every gun store East Texas FLEW off the racks in the past week. I was in a gun store today that got 2 of them delivered today at noon and some woman bought both of them while I was there at 3: 00. At $999 a pop. I know ANOTHER woman who bought two earlier this week. A couple of weeks ago, Walmarts in the area had AR-15s, Ruger ranch guns, and other semi-auto rifles in stock in all stores. Now all that are left are .22s. Try buying .223s anywhere. Academy had a ´never again´ policy on running out after Obama´s first election caused a run on ammo and guns - ´never again´ lasted until this week.

What´s happening with Obama´s jobs commission? It´s been 4 years, still no jobs and the labor force participation rate is back to 1980. I know Obama says he wants things done quick, but the results here look tardy.

Obama isn´t slowing down on gun control.

Whether he´s hiding behind the actions of an American madman, or personally peddling high-powered rifles to Mexico´s most violent drug gangs, Barack Obama fully intends to destroy the Second Amendment.

Three hundred people in Mexico have been MURDERED with the weapons Obama forced into the hands of the drug cartels.

Do you see "60 Minutes" asking him any hard questions?

Do you see Brian Williams demanding answers on the NBC Evening "News?"

Heard any hard questions coming from Diane Sawyer on ABC?

Is Wolf Blitzer breaking down the barricades for CNN, in the name of "investigative journalism?"

Any questions from PMSNBC?

Of course not.

The New York Times?

The WhiteWash Post?

The sickening truth is that reporters at ALL of these organizations will HAPPILY cover up the murders of 300 Mexicans, if it means destroying freedom here at home.

Why don´t they care?

Well, for one, the dead are MEXICANS.

Secondly, reporting on Obama getting Mexican Citizens murdered wouldn´t comport with their left-wing narrative. It should be a REPUBLICAN President shrugging with indifference over the deaths of 300 brown people. Telling the truth about Barack Obama would destroy that narrative.

Wise King Barky wants to take your gun rights away.

Communists always do.

Chaos in Iraq could be omen for
Afghanistan without U.S. troops

Afghanistan’s war planners trying to picture their country without U.S. troops next year might want to cast an eye toward Iraq. Since the U.S. pullout two years ago, a defeated al Qaeda in Iraq has reassembled, brought in fresh fighters, freed prisoners and unleashed waves of deadly car bombings. Last week, al Qaeda claimed control of Fallujah, the town in western Anbar province where scores of Americans lost their lives in house-to-house fighting in 2004. The same situation could befall Afghanistan, as the Taliban, the Haqqani Network and al Qaeda wait patiently in Pakistan. Afghan President Hamid Karzai has refused

A preliminary deal designed to halt Iran’s nuclear program will take effect next week, the White House said Sunday, but some U.S. lawmakers and analysts have little faith that the Middle Eastern nation will comply. In exchange for about $7 billion in economic sanctions relief, Iran on Jan. 20 will stop enriching uranium beyond 5 percent — a level high enough for energy purposes but not nuclear weapons — and will begin to dilute its existing stockpile of 20 percent uranium. Iran also has pledged not to construct more centrifuges and will submit to rigorous inspection of its facilities, though

A survey conducted in seven Muslim-majority countries (Tunisia, Egypt, Lebanon, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Pakistan) finds that a median of 10 percent of the respondents prefer women to wear either a niqab or burqa when in public. The specific country figures range enormously, from 74 percent approval of these two garments in Saudi Arabia and 35 percent in Pakistan to 3 percent in Lebanon and Tunisia and just 2 percent in Turkey. Woman No. 4, whose hair and ears are covered by an amira, was overall far and away deemed the most appropriately dressed for appearing in public, with 44 percent of the vote, followed in a distant

The Treasury said Friday it will not count “nominally compensated” volunteer firefighters or emergency medical services personnel as full-time employees when the employer mandate tied to Obamacare takes effect next year. In a blog post, the department said it reviewed the tax code and concluded it would not be reasonable to count first-responder volunteers against the law’s threshold of 50 employees. The controversial mandate, which defines full-time work as 30 hours a week, penalizes employers with 50 or more employees that do not provide health coverage. In July, the Obama administration delayed the mandate’s implementation by one year from 2014

The House passed a bill Friday that requires the federal government to notify consumers within two days if their personal data has been breached on online-based insurance markets tied to the new health care law. Roughly one third of voting Democrats joined the Republican majority in passing the Health Exchange Security and Transparency Act, 291 votes to 122, even though the Obama administration said legislation is unnecessary because notification rules are in place. Republicans said the measure is common sense. “All it says is the administration has to let victims of identity theft or information theft to be notified. That’s

Despite the treasured right-wing talking points, it’s increasingly clear that Obamacare is a success. Moreover, in places where Obamacare is not succeeding, it’s also clear that the right wing is to blame. Well, it’s clear to any who look at the state-by-state numbers of the newly insured. A whole lot of Americans will have to look, however, for the program’s success to redound to Democrats’ advantage. Charles Gaba, an enterprising Web site designer, has taken it upon himself to track the number of Americans who have gained health insurance under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The era of Gesture Liberalism is at hand. It may be more amusing than consequential. Americans who exercise consumer sovereignty wherever Barack Obama still tolerates it are constantly disappointing him. For generations they persisted in buying what he calls “substandard” policies from what he calls “bad apple” health insurers. They stopped only when he forced them to stop — when he rescued them from their ignorance by banning their benighted preferences. Have consumers thanked him for trying to wean them from their desire to drive large, useful, comfortable, safe vehicles that he thinks threaten their habitat, Earth? The 2013 numbers

The pizza arrived, steaming and delectable, a smoked-mozzarella-and-sausage pie presented to Mayor Bill de Blasio like a gilded offering to a visiting caliph. The mayor, on a pilgrimage on Friday to Goodfellas, a venerable Staten Island pizzeria, smiled, nodded at his slice and then proceeded to do the unthinkable: eat it with a knife and fork. Cue the foodie firestorm. “Disaster,” declared a writer at New York magazine, citing the longstanding city protocol of devouring pizza, no matter how greasy, with the hands, and the hands only. One website called it Mr. de Blasio’s first mistake as mayor.
