School Security, Not

Crime: Reaction in official circles to the Newtown school massacre has gone little beyond mindless demands for gun-control measures — which criminals always evade. The government already controls too much. James Madison warned that in establishing a free government, "the great difficulty lies in this: You must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself." Thomas Jefferson warned that "free government is founded in jealousy, and not in confidence; it is jealousy, and not confidence, which prescribes limited constitutions to bind down those whom we are

There´s nothing any government or legislation can do to stop an evil man with nothing to lose. They´ve always existed and always will. All we can do is hope we never cross one.

Either do away completely with public education and put it back in the care of churches (like in the early years of the United States), because the muzzies will do that anyway. OR, make principals of schools take weapons training (like all Wardens do even in minimum security institutions).

I favor doing away completely with the DOE and all state owned, state run schools of any stripe. Whaddaya think about THAT!

#2, once the principals are trained in the art of defending their charges, we can then train those who supervise children at other places they gather that might attract nuts with weapons - you know, little league coaches, ballet instructors, cub scout leaders, Sunday school teachers, etc. Training principals and school administrators is a bad idea. For starters, they are educators, not Matt Dillon wannabes. Something has to be done but not that. We as a society have to change. I am not willing to have my future grandchildren living in a country in which everyone who looks out for them is packing a weapon.

Immediately, without further cavil, appoint a security officer, well armed, to every school in the nation! Well-meaning teachers and administrators, even if trained and armed, won´t do the job. At the moment of confrontation a Socratic dialogue with a would-be murderer, likely with a rational teacher, would be suicidal. The primary defender, the security officer, must shoot first. Former military or police officers, experienced with firearms, are necessary. Consider armed administrators or teachers as back-up.

How about eliminating the "gun free zones" since all of these mass killings occur in these areas. A person that has had the training for a concealed carry permit should be free to go anywhere. An armed security guard at a school is simply an easy first target and then the killer has free rein for a few minutes to do whatever.

#2 training should be voluntary, not mandatory. We would want someone that is capable of killing the lunatic, without reservations, in order to save the lives of the children.

#3 appears to be suggesting teachers or administrators are not trainable. I disagree. And I would have no problem with my grandkids beings armed and fully capable of protecting themselves. My 7-year-old grandkid has already been taught how to safely shoot a .22 rifle. His training will continue until he is an adult.

#4, I agree.

Legal Racket: Wehn Laywers were shaking down the tobacco industry in the 1990´s, it was clear that it was just a matter of when they´d loot again. The only question was who would be the next mark. That picture is clearing up. The list of potential victims that acquisitive trial lawyers could separate from their money includes the oil and gas industry, the alcohol trade, drug companies and the firearms business. All would be fine trophies for the plaintiffs´ attorneys. It appears, however, that the next victim will be the food industry. Gun Control: In a massive display of civil disobedience, tens of thousands of state residents have refused to register what the left calls assault weapons, instantly making them criminals guilty of a felony. The legacy of the Connecticut residents who used their privately owned firearms to help overthrow the tyrannical colonial rule of King George III, who probably considered their muskets the military-style assault weapon of the day, apparently lives on. Connecticuters in the tens, perhaps hundreds, of thousands have refused to comply with a law, adopted after the December 2012 massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School, requiring them to register what

Radical Politics: The Obama administration isn´t satisfied with locking in votes for Democrats by giving amnesty to illegal immigrants. Now it´s also trying to unlock ex-con´s votes through felon re-enfranchisement. In a Georgetown University speech, Attorney General Eric Holder last week called state laws barring convicted felons from voting racist measures that "strip African-Americans of their most fundamental rights." "Throughout America, 2.2 million black citizens — or nearly one in 13 African-American adults — are banned from voting because of these laws," he asserted. "In three states — Florida, Kentucky and Virginia — that ratio climbs to one in five." He demanded lawmakers

She is Eva Moskowitz, fellow Democrat and educational-reform champion who runs the city´s largest charter network. How did Ms. Moskowitz, a hero to thousands of New Yorkers of modest means whose children have been able to get a better education than their local public schools offered, end up becoming public enemy No. 1? President Obama predicted at the House Democratic retreat on Friday that "10 years from now, five years from now" people will look back on the Affordable Care Act as "a monumental achievement." He´s right in the limited sense that, given the delays he has sanctioned so far, it will take years before anyone can tell if it works. Now that we´ve had more time to parse this week´s announcement of a second delay of the employer mandate, the political reason for the carve-out is becoming clearer. Far from the economic relief that the White House claimed, the rule is meant to

Sen. It makes their heads explode,” Cruz told radio host Mark Levin Thursday. Cruz tried to filibuster a vote in the Senate to raise the debt ceiling Wednesday, forcing the approval of 60 senators instead of a simple majority. That

Republicans in Congress are being accused of fighting a "war on the war on poverty," in part because of a tiny cut in the food stamps program last week. Democrats charge that these "cuts" will take food from the mouths of hungry children, and they claim this is an example of how Congress has shred the safety net for the poor. Never mind that this is the food aid program that has tripled in cost and doubled in participation in just the last decade. Even during the economic recovery, the number of recipients — one in seven Americans — continues to

The University of Notre Dame must provide birth control to employees and students after a federal appeals court ruled Friday, a move the school says will force it to violate its religious beliefs. In a blow to religious colleges and universities across the country, the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago denied Notre Dame´s request for an injunction to the ObamaCare birth control mandate that requires the school to provide coverage for contraception. The injunction would have given Notre Dame a temporary reprieve from the birth control mandate, as the Roman Catholic school challenges the rule in court.

The real mystery behind the FCC´s now abandoned "study" to police American newsrooms is why the mainstream media refused to raise holy hell over it. While Obama´s lapdogs refused to bark, it was conservative media who fought for newsroom independence and got the FCC to finally back down. Other than the media´s natural obedience to Obama, the fact that the fingerprints of left-wing billionaire George Soros have been found on the FCC study might also help to explain the media´s silence.
