| As if Zero Dark Thirty needed more controversy, ABC News is now reporting that Under Secretary of Defense Michael Vickers is under investigation for leaking sensitive information to the filmmakers. "Specifically, Vickers is said to have disclosed to the filmmakers the identity of a member of SEAL Team Six -- though not a member of the team that conducted the raid on Osama bin Laden´s compound," says ABC´s Jake Tapper. This is potentially a big deal for said SEAL Team Six member, who could be targeted by terrorists, but it´s also a bit of a boondoggle for the Pentagon,

FTA: One of ABC´s sources said that those at the Defense Department "really don´t think this will amount to anything," while another said that it was "appropriate for department officials to work with the entertainment industry to try to inform how stories are told -- especially those associated with one of the greatest intelligence and military successes of a generation."
In other words: did we make a certain someone look presidential? Did we give him a ball to spike? We did? Then why all this whining about endangering the life of a SEAL? Can we not stick to the point?

Sounds like he might know what is a risk as there was a promise of non-disclosure of the Seal Teams members name. Of course I´m sure the press and the administration have released the ID by now.

About a decade ago, Glenn McGovern began studying targeted attacks on members of the criminal justice community, including judges, prosecutors and police officers. The former SWAT officer had joined the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office in California as an investigator. He saw a need for improved training for the office’s protective unit, he said. “I started researching the kind of attacks so that I could understand them better and we could develop training in order to respond to this type of violence,” McGovern said this week. “And then I also do the threat and risk assessments.

French Chief Rabbi Gilles Bernheim handed in his resignation on Thursday after he admitted that he had committed plagiarism and claimed unearned academic titles, French newspaper Le Figaro reported. The board met in Paris to hear his decision, and lauded his decision as "courageous." Bernheim is usually introduced as an “agrégé,” a sort of “doctor,” a prestigious academic title obtained by civil servants in competitive tests. In Who’s Who, in biographies and in an official book of the Consistoire central des Juifs de France, which administers religious services, the title agrégé of philosophy always appears under Bernheim’s name.

Only one of my six children has left New York for economic reasons but the strain of living in this expensive nanny state is weighing heavy on my other five and their families. As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.
