´I am Adam Lanza´s mother´: Blogger admits
fear for her own troubled son after Newtown

Daily Mail (UK), by Olivia Fleming

In a desperate cry for help, one mother has written a powerful essay about her mentally-ill son and his violent tendencies in the wake of the Newtown, Connecticut tragedy. As parents prepare for the wrenching task of burying 20 first-graders and six adults killed at the hands of 20-year-old Adam Lanza on Friday morning, Liza Long has opened up about the overwhelming struggle she faces in caring for her 13-year-old mentally ill son. Whilst speculation about Mr Lanza´s potential mental instability grows, the mother of four from Boise, Idaho, says she fears her own son could one day

So vital this mom has the courage to write about her son... and the Internet and Rush have picked it up...

"Mrs Long goes on to explain that Michael is yet to be correctly diagnosed by the legion of psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers and school counselors who have treated him."

Could he be over-diagnosed or over-treated...

So grateful my son grew up on a farm where he had chores morning, noon, and night, learned who the boss was before he could walk, but spent hours exploring the streams and woods on his horse or a bicycle with friends... Plus he went to a school that mirrored our family values...

There, but for the Grace of God, go I...

What we are seing is the end result of years of drugging our youth with mentally altering drugs particularly white males. All these shooters were in such drugs including Columbine.

...I read the posting yesterday and immediately realized she was doing one thing ABSOLUTELY right and one thing ABSOLUTELY wrong. Taking your threatening child to the hospital or getting the police involved is extremely difficult to follow through on. IT IS A MUST. I credit Ms. Long for that. Unfortunately, her reliance on the utopian hope that, "with her better funding for mental health attitude things could improve", will doom her child and their relationship. The Mental health system is just as ignorant and arrogant as any other bureaucracy. The DMV would do know worse at managing adolescent mental health. Her exhaustion is evident in her comfort in mentioning the use of Zyprexa.
Ms. Long needs to understand her child´s best hope is completely determined by her gaining an authoritative knowledge of his condition. She must not look for resolution, this is not a finite issue; rather, she must seek to manage her child´s improvement so as to recognize opportunities for adjustments. She must become expert on therapies and drugs so as to be able to evaluate the competence of doctors and the appropriateness of suggested therapies and drug regiments. I refer to it as the "Lorenzo´s Oil" method. Rest assured, Susan Saradon is my least favorite but that story is analogous to what each parent of any child with a mental disorder must endure.

#3 makes an extremely important point. If you have a loved one with any medical condition you must become expert in treatment options or you´re at the mercy of an uncaring bureaucracy. It can make the difference between maximum quality of life or suffering and death. Obamacare will only make things worse.

This is Feminism´s triumph. A whole world that looks first for what the government can do, and spends not a moment thinking "what happened that the father wasn´t there?"

I received this tonight on my Facebook page and find it extremely interesting. I have thought for years the over medicating of children was the cause for so much psychiatric illness and crime.

#5, in the article, there is a family picture with faces blurred except for the mother and son in question...and it looks like there is a father in the picture, at least at that time. Although she doesn´t mention him, are we he´s not in his sons life?

As she writes, this is NOT a gun controlk issue, it is a mental health issue.
This child and Lanza, having shown VIOLENT TENDENCIES should have been in a mental facility for life. Yes, that is a tough statement but that is what we USED to do.

THen came Teddy Kennedy and the ACLU. Look it up, the two of them sued and legislated away that possibility because to them, the rights of Lanza FAR OUTWEIGHED the rights of the children. By them, it was argued that they had the same rights to walk freely among us as did any mentally healthy person. This gave us the conditions for this horrible assault.

And where was one of these long term facilitied located?

Newtown, Ct.

BEIRUT -- Al-Qaida´s branch in Iraq and the most powerful rebel extremist group in Syria have officially joined ranks against President Bashar Assad to forge a potentially formidable militant force in the Middle East. The merger of the Islamic State in Iraq and Jabhat al-Nusra forms a new entity that could be an even stronger opponent in the fight to topple Assad and become a dominant player in what eventually replaces his regime. The new group, called the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, underscores the growing confidence and muscle of Islamist radicals fighting on the rebel side

There used to be a formulation of cynical news editors to determine American news priorities for mass murder. It ran something like: 1,000 dead Bangladeshis = 100 dead Italians = 10 dead Americans. So how many dead American babies does it take to make the news? I wrote two-and-a-half weeks ago about the U.S. media’s determination to ignore a story that’s inconvenient to their biases. But, given the gun-banners’ ceaseless grief-feasting on Sandy Hook, at some point doesn’t the corpse count in Philadelphia merit maybe, oh, a thousandth of the attention?

The lack of coverage is a problem for a growing chorus of conservative and media critics, who allege that the scant national media attention can be attributed not to the courtroom drama but the politics of abortion. That would set up a Senate vote on Thursday." The Huffington Post suggests Reid has the support he needs:

Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”
