Nativity scene returns
after Warren man gets permit

Detroit News, by Lauren Abdel-Razzaq

Warren - A longtime Nativity scene on Mound Road is back this Christmas after a four-year absence. On Saturday morning, John Satawa once again erected his 8-by-8 foot manger and statues in the median just north of Chicago Road, although this time he did it with a permit he fought for years to get. (Snip) The display will be allowed to stay up until Dec. 29 after he agreed to meet the conditions to get the permit, namely posting a sign declaring the scene to be a private display and getting a $1 million insurance policy to cover liabilities. "In the past, we would put it up after Thanksgiving and take it down

Comments:
Wonder why there is sudden and violent craziness in our Country? When we lose our moral compass and have to bargain with the "devil" to put up a Nativity scene that has been the known symbol of our Faith since the beginning. I can guarantee you that when 0bama goes to the memorial service tomorrow in Newtown, they won´t be praying to Mohammad or any other false god for their lost children.

The godless bureaucracy does not go down easy, attaching all kinds of nit-picky requirements to prove that they are still in control. An insurance policy? Really?

Authorities smelled money so a fee was required. Is there a prayer permit too ? These people will try to sell tickets for the Lord´s return, then fine him for loud trumpets and a lightning system that doesn´t meet codes.

When a town starts forbidding a Nativity scene or Christmas tree that has been displayed for years, there is one remedy that I am surprised more people don´t exercise: Every one in town put a similar display on their front lawn or porch. It´s private property (at least for now) and no one can stop you from putting a Nativity scene or Christmas tree there (yet).

People need to start booby trapping their nativity scenes. That´s how far we´ve sunk in the war on God.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) bought $11.6 million worth of computer software the agency never used, according to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA). TIGTA attributed the error to poor management and a lack of inventory of more than $200 million in software purchased by the IRS, according to an audit released Thursday. “Software license management at the IRS is not being adequately performed,” the audit said. “Efficient and cost-effective management of the IRS’s software assets is crucial to ensuring that information technology services continue to support the IRS’s business operations and

Is it too farfetched to connect the dots between a brilliant Wall Street Journal op-ed by Charles Koch, the chairman and CEO of Koch Industries, and the continued sluggish recovery in jobs, business investment and the overall economy? I don´t think so. In his piece, Koch seems to make a plea for a big dose of free-market capitalism. He argues, "The central belief and fatal conceit of the current administration is that you are incapable of running your own life, but those in power are capable of running it for you. This is the essence of big government and collectivism." Charles Koch and his brother David have been vilified by the left for fighting

On Thursday, the Justice Department announced the biggest environmental settlement in history with Anadarko Petroleum, reaching a $5.15 billion deal to clean up dozens of sites across the United States and compensate more than 7,000 people living with the effects of the contamination. The accord arose out of a lawsuit in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court concerning Tronox, a paint materials manufacturer and unit of the company Kerr-McGee, an Anadarko subsidiary. Anadarko bought Kerr-McGee after it had spun off Tronox, but plaintiffs and Justice Dept. officials charged this was merely an attempt to avoid taking financial

It´s not just natural gas that keeps Ukraine under Russia´s thumb. Almost all the fuel for Ukraine´s 15 nuclear reactors comes from Russia, too. But just as Ukraine is struggling to diversify away from Russian natural gas, it is also eager to break Moscow´s virtual monopoly over its nuclear fuel. Pennsylvania-based Westinghouse Electric Co. told various media outlets this week it will renew a contract with Ukraine´s Energoatom that will extend and expand its flow of nuclear fuel to the struggling nation. The deal is valued at $100 million. "Based on discussions as late as last night [April 3], we will make a deal and increase fuel deliveries this

Mazda Recalling Cars

Detroit - Mazda is recalling 42,000 Mazda6 cars in the U.S. because spiders can weave a web in a vent hose and cause the fuel tank to crack. The recall involves cars from the 2010 through 2012 model years equipped with 2.5-liter engines. The yellow sac spider, which is attracted to hydrocarbons, builds webs that cause pressure to build in the fuel tank. That increases the risk of fuel leaks and fire. Mazda recalled cars in 2011 for the same problem. It put covers on the vent line, but has found spiders can get past them. Mazda will update the cars' software for free beginning this month to ensure that the fuel tank pressure doesn't build up.

A triumphant President Barack Obama declared Tuesday his signature medical insurance overhaul a success, saying it has made America´s health care system ´a lot better´ in a Rose Garden press conference. But buried in the 7.1 million enrollments he announced in a heavily staged appearance is a more unsettling reality. Numbers from a RAND Corporation study that has been kept under wraps suggest that barely 858,000 previously uninsured Americans – nowhere near 7.1 million – have paid for new policies and joined the ranks of the insured by Monday night.
