A group of gun control advocates is planning to protest at Lafayette Park outside the White House at 4:30 p.m. Nancy Robinson of the group Citizens for Safety says that several advocacy groups were already in D.C. for a leadership training conference when the shooting in Newtown, Conn. occurred. “Tell Jay Carney today IS the day to talk about gun violence,” Robinson wrote in an e-mail announcing the event. “We demand a plan to stop the slaughter of our children.” White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters earlier that a gun control policy
Comments: CNN just showed a picture of these crass jerks. Never let a crisis go to waste. Their behavior is reprehensible!
I cannot express how angry I am. Those poor children & their parents are grieving and there are those who have to politicize this horrible incident. While I appreciate the President´s comments, he went to far when he said something has to been done regardless of politics. He could not help but to politicize this tragedy with that comment.
No free man shall ever be de-barred the use of arms-Thomas Jefferson
When only cops have guns, it´s called a "police state". -Claire Wolfe
Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. - Jefferson´s "Commonplace Book," 1774-1776, quoting from On Crimes and Punishment, by criminologist Cesare Beccaria, 1764
Prayers go out to all the families on this terrible day. I can´t begin to imagine how devastated they must be. As usual, despicable bottom-feeding-cretins are given publicity by CNN and the rest of the leftist media.. As the so-called "godfather" of Chicago, Rahm Emmanuel once said "never let a crisis go to waste" and they don´t! They don´t care a whit about the victims, but they hope murdered children will promote their agenda, and that´s the ONLY reason they are "protesting". The true face of evil shows itself whenever there is a tragedy they can exploit. Sickening.
It was a criminal who did this rotten attack, not a normal average and responsible gunowner. Those protestors need to step back and rethink their position which has been proved wrong time and time again. If the janitor had been carrying, this could have been stopped short.
My heart just goes out to these families who lost their precious children in this assault and also to the families of the staff. A very black day for our country.
Americans have always had guns, lots of guns, but we have not always had mass murders. So what´s changed? It ain´t the guns. It´s our immoral institutions that make laws not based on morality, but based on greed, revenge, and power. They´ll probably get rid of the guns, but it won´t make any difference. Our evilness will get deeper and deep and the mass killings will get bigger and bigger. Remember, the biggest school killing in our history was caused by the explosion of three home-made bombs. It´s tough to control bomb makers.
Perhaps we need people protesting outside of the White House, demanding that our mental health laws be reformed to allow us to protect ourselves from the mentally ill. As it stands right now, the mentally ill person is catered to and protected, excluding family from having any input into treatment/hospitalization. Neighbors of this shooter are saying that he was odd, peculiar, disturbed. I would note that he killed his father, then his mother, then the rest of the victims. But I would bet his parents had no say in his mental health care, if he had any at all.
This anti gun stuff shoulda been done when Sickles shoot his rival in Lafayette Park!!!the son of Francis Scott Key......duh... Only guns for responsible citizens will help to control this murderous evil ...
When need a Million American March at the White House to Make Bozo Obama RESIGN He cause Violence in Michigan and else where Please Impeach Obama. Crime is up since taken office. Policemen are being laidoff everywhere because cities are broke.Obama policies at work. Resign OBAMA

Mario Coumo us responsible for putting the dangerously mentaly ill on the streets. Now we have no way of knowing when or if some tragedy like this will happen. We can´t prevent it as long as political correctness is practiced in this once Great Country.
The escalting war between MSNBC’s Al Sharpton and Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly took an unexpected turn last night when O’Reilly revealed that he had donated $25,000 to Sharpton’s charity to help pay for Christmas gifts and dinner for underprivileged families in Harlem. Earlier today, Sharpton offered some choice words for O’Reilly in an interview, but this afternoon on his show he really let the Fox host have it. Sharpton pointed that like O’Reilly, he never mentioned the donation until now. “Bill doesn’t realize it, but this story actually reveals what kind of person he is… Bill gave that money privately
Fox TV Studios has pulled out of talks to produce a 4-hour-long NBC miniseries about former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The two sides had previously been in contact over producing Hillary, starring Diane Lane as the eponymous politician. But Deadline reported this afternoon that “with the two sides far apart, and were never able to bridge the gap on the deal terms.” “The economics of TV movies and miniseries are challenging, which is why very few production companies take on such programs these days,” explained Deadline. “That includes NBC’s own studio, Universal TV, which would not produce NBC’s longform projects, including
It’s clear by now that if conservatives are ever going to even begin to roll back the overt, ongoing and worsening lawlessness of the Obama administration, they’re going to have to go over, through, or around the Republican party first. The GOP “leadership,” as presently constituted, is nothing more than the lesser half of the Permanent Bipartisan Fusion Government, content to munch its cud and occasionally low in the direction of constitutional propriety, and then resume its own modest but lucrative role in fertilizing the “two-party” system. As evidence, consider Bob Costa’s piece today on Senator Ted Cruz, and the
Speaking Thursday at a joint appearance with Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Secretary of State John Kerry admitted that there were “many al Qaeda leaders now operating in Syria”—where President Barack Obama decided two months ago to provide military support to rebel forces fighting alongside al Qaeda to overthrow the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Asad. Asad is a member of the Alawite sect, which is a derivative of Shiite Islam; the Syrian rebels are predominantly Sunni, and al Qaeda is Sunni. According to the CIA, Assad’s Alawite sect represents no more than 16 percent of the Syrian population, while 74 percent
Egypt´s president on Friday suggested US President Barack Obama´s condemnation of a deadly crackdown on Islamists may "encourage violent armed groups". "The presidency fears statements not based on facts may encourage violent armed groups," it said in a statement responding to Obama´s condemnation of Wednesday´s carnage when police moved to disperse Islamist protest camps. "The presidency appreciates US concern for developments in Egypt, but it wished it could have clarified matters," said the statement published by the official MENA news agency. "Egypt is facing terrorist acts aimed at government institutions and vital installations," the statement said.
The Washington Post´s article detailing the fourth amendment abuses by the NSA got some push back from the administration who attempted to "edit" the article before publication. The internal audit referenced in the article was obtained by the WaPo from Edward Snowden. The details of the audit indicated repeated and growing privacy violations by the NSA, violations which included obtaining thousands of American citizen´s communications records and using methods of information collection that were later deemed unconstitutional by a court. The Post was able to interview John Delong, NSA director of compliance for the article and they were initially
There´s much talk about Chris Christie as the frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016 (yes, already). Christie is certainly gearing up for a run, and has begun by attacking potential GOP rivals. But while moderate Republicans like Christie for 2016, he is their version of what Rick Perry was for conservatives in the 2012 race: a locally successful governor whose attributes will not stand up well on the national stage. Perry had much to recommend him as a national contender: staunch conservatism on most policy issues, and an economic record that even liberals would find attractive. But his Texas
Hillary Clinton has worked her way back in the news by making racially-charged remarks to the American Bar Association’s annual meeting in San Francisco. There is, she claimed, an ongoing “assault on voting rights.” But the only “assault” going on is a liberal assault on the truth about efforts to protect the integrity of our election process. Clinton’s polemic claims fit nicely within a calculated political strategy adopted late last year. At a December meeting in Washington, D.C., three dozen of the most powerful liberal advocacy groups providing money and manpower for Democratic candidates hammered out three agreed-upon objectives for
CBS ace Sharyl Attkisson is tweeting about the status of her Freedom of Information Act request for materials related to White House activities related to the night that four Americans died in the terrorist attack on the US facility in Benghazi, Libya. President Obama has tried to defend his health care plan lately by criticizing Republicans for trying to roll back ObamaCare without offering any alternatives -- despite the fact that Republicans have offered several. In a White House news conference a week ago, the president said: "They used to say, ´well, we´re going to replace it with something better.´ There´s not even a pretense now that they´re going to replace it with something better." Moments later, Obama elaborated, saying "they used to say they had a replacement. That never actually arrived, right? I mean, I´ve been hearing about this whole replacement thing for
The Senate’s most senior lawmaker said Friday that the intelligence community is still not being truthful about its snooping activities and how they may be picking up communications from Americans, and vowed to hold hearings when Congress returns from its summer vacation. “The American people rely on the intelligence community to provide forthright and complete information so that Congress and the courts can properly conduct oversight,” Sen. Patrick J. Leahy, Vermont Democrat, said. “I remain concerned that we are still not getting straightforward answers from the NSA.”
There´s a certain page on Facebook people of faith do not “like.” Created in February, the “Virgin Mary Should’ve Aborted” Facebook page originally included this controversial description, presumably speaking from Mary’s perspective: I´m here to explain what really happened in biblical times, since the bible is full of lies. My rapist´s offspring has destroyed the planet and brainwashed millions. Rage-quitting is for loose buttholes. Bible-believing Facebook users who are members of the group, “Catholics & Protestants Against FB Religious Discrimination” led the online fight to have the page taken down -- and succeeded. But, they didn’t have long to celebrate.
From his first presidential campaign to the present, the president, his party and his administration have openly flouted existing laws, and it doesn´t seem there is any legal means of stopping him short of impeachment. As you may recall, the Democrats refused to fill vacant spots on the Federal Election Commission so that when the Obama campaign disabled the system to track contributions there was no way in 2008 to challenge and stop the practice and countless suspicious contributions, including many from overseas, found their way into his coffers.
Cairo - The Egyptian government acknowledged that its security forces had killed 36 Islamists in its custody Sunday, as the military leaders and the country’s Islamists vowed to keep up their fight over Egypt’s future. (Snip) While confirming the killings of the detainees on Sunday, the Ministry of the Interior said the deaths were the consequence of an escape attempt by Islamist prisoners. But officials of the main Islamist movement, the Muslim Brotherhood, described the deaths as “assassinations,” and claimed that the victims, which it said numbered 52, had been shot and tear-gassed through the windows
"So, how many black friends do you have now?" It´s a question I get asked a lot, ever since I set out five years ago to find out why I, your typical middle-class white person, had no black friends at all. I do have black friends now, actually. Several. But I rarely offer that information when asked, because to ask white people how many black friends they have is to pose the wrong question. (Snip) It helps if white people know how to be better white people.
The 16-year-old girl’s once-beautiful face was grotesque. She had been disfigured beyond all recognition in the 18 months she had been held captive by the Comanche Indians. Now, she was being offered back to the Texan authorities by Indian chiefs as part of a peace negotiation. To gasps of horror from the watching crowds, the Indians presented her at the Council House in the ranching town of San Antonio in 1840, the year Queen Victoria married Prince Albert. ‘Her head, arms and face were full of bruises and sores,’ wrote one witness, Mary Maverick. ‘And her nose was actually burnt off to the bone.
Critics say a Muslim group picked the wrong day — Sept. 11 — to march on Washington to complain about religious profiling and President Obama’s handling of an investigation into the terror attacks that rocked America 12 years ago. The mass demonstration, called the "Million Muslim March," was changed to a more mainstream-sounding event, "Million American March Against Fear," but the name did not seem to gain much traction and has apparently reverted back to its original title. American Muslim Political Action Committee (AMPAC), which is organizing the march, claims Muslims nationwide have been the victims of anti-Islamic bigotry in
During an exclusive to web interview with “This Week,” Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol said Sarah Palin — after having hastily stepped down as Alaska’s governor in 2009 – might be able to rehabilitate her political career by winning a Senate race in her home state next year. “I think the way Palin would possibly resurrect herself, if that’s the right word, or rehabilitate herself I guess a better way of putting it, [is] run for Senate in Alaska in 2014,” Kristol said. “I’m not urging that, I’m just saying if I were her adviser I would say ‘take on
Washington — Clinton nostalgia is being replaced by Clinton neuralgia. Why is it that America’s roil family always seems better in abstract than in concrete? The closer it gets to running the world once more, the more you are reminded of all the things that bugged you the last time around. The Clintons’ neediness, their sense of what they are owed in material terms for their public service, their assumption that they’re entitled to everyone’s money. Are we about to put the “For Rent” sign back on the Lincoln Bedroom? If Americans are worried about money in politics,
Nearly five years after moving into the White House, Michelle Obama could not look more at home. Posing in the formal Green Room, she appears both relaxed and invigorated, embracing the undefined (and undefinable) roles of Spouse in Chief, Role Model in Chief, and Mom in Chief. But it’s the last one that makes the first lady shine brightest of all. Put her in a room with kids—whether her own or the nation’s—and she glows.
The military judge presiding over the case of the Fort Hood shooter has blocked several key pieces of evidence that prosecutors said would explain the mindset of the soldier accused in the 2009 rampage. On Monday it was revealed that the judge has banned prosecutors from giving any speculation into Major Nidal Hasan’s motive in the shooting that left 13 dead and 30 others wounded, including the belief that he felt he had a ‘jihad duty’ to carry out the attack. Prosecutors had asked the judge to approve several witnesses and various evidence to support what they allege motivated Hasan
WASHINGTON — Watch out, Bo — there’s a new dog in town. The White House says the Obamas have added a second dog to the first family. Her name is Sunny, and she’s a Portuguese Water Dog — the same breed as the Obamas’ other dog, Bo. The White House says that breed works well for the Obamas because of family allergies. Sunny was born a year ago in June in Michigan and arrived at the White House Monday. She’s expected to join Bo for evening walks and the occasional Oval Office huddle with the president. The White House says
With the latest major revelation about National Security Agency surveillance, there’s a huge taboo question that needs to be put out on the table: Has President Obama been deliberately lying about the NSA, or have his statements just been repeatedly “wrong”? After Barton Gellman’s blockbuster story today about the NSA breaking “privacy rules or overstepp(ing) its legal authority thousands of times each year,” the Washington Post published an attendant commentary with a headline declaring the president was merely “wrong” in last week suggesting that the NSA wasn’t “actually abusing” its legal authority. The implication is that when Obama made that comment
At 6:30 am this morning my time - 5:30 am on the East Coast of the US - I received a telephone call from someone who identified himself as a "security official at Heathrow airport." He told me that my partner, David Miranda, had been "detained" at the London airport "under Schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act of 2000." David had spent the last week in Berlin, where he stayed with Laura Poitras, the US filmmaker who has worked with me extensively on the NSA stories. A Brazilian citizen, he was returning to our home in Rio de Janeiro this morning
