| Practically every time he opens his mouth these days, President Obama warns that middle-class taxes will automatically go up on Jan. 1 if Congress fails to act on the fiscal cliff before year´s end. "The typical, middle-class family of four will see an income tax hike of around $2,200. How many of you can afford to pay another $2,200 in taxes?" he says. It´s all meant to scare the public into thinking there´s no hope of keeping middle-class taxes down if a deal isn´t worked out before Dec. 31. But Obama is creating a false sense of urgency — and needlessly scaring millions of middle-class families — simply to

Obama´s right.
The Democrats won´t be able to help themselves and will look to add more to the tax increase.
The funny thing is the Dems want the Republicans to cave on the top 2% so they can use it against them for "raising taxes" but mainly so they can be restrained from increasing that group to the top 10%.
Boehner needs to clearly state, the added tax revenue from the increasing the top 2% will only cover the current yearly deficit for 1 week. (it´s a great visual for anyone to realize)
And then criticize Harry Reid "look, Democrat Senator Reid has been leading the Senate for 6 years now, and for the last 4 hasn´t even proposed a budget. I presume he´s afraid to offer his own specifics, beyond taxing small businesses, and doesn´t dare vote on the President´s plan". (in those exact words)

I am sure that Obama is wrong about the taxes going up on the middle class as he and his fellow democrats have always said that the Bush tax cuts went to only the wealthy. So we in the middle have nothing to fear, no tax hike for us. Could I be wrong? Hmmmm.

Most Americans do not realize the jig is up. You violate the laws of science which ecomoices is one - you are screwed. Once the US bonds are downgraded one little notch the pain begins. the only thing that is holding us from going over the edge is that the US currency is 75% of the worlds reserve.

Obama´s speeches are all about making sure peeps blame the GOP when 70% of workers have a tax increase.
Think about what Obozo is using to calculate who gets the high rate.... Your Net Worth... not your annual salary.
If you have a home only worth $160k, you are not safe; Obozo´s CZars are calculating your homes value as Best Use, not market value.
Obozo will pull off this scam & the GOP will be blamed.

Then let the multitude on the middle class get up in arms against congress. They´re the ones who voted those worthless demonrats into office.

I think the only thing preventing the WH from imposing their high tax garbage on the middle and lower classes right now is that they haven´t figured out the method to use that leaves their political hides intact after it happens. The media won´t escape the consequences easily either. Good.

Recall that Obamacare was also in need of being finished "now". When the dust settled, most of the major portions of it would not take effect until 2013 and 2014... after the recoronation, of course.

The problem is, if Obama told the Treasury to leave the tax withholding rates where they are but allowed all the Bush tax cut rates to go up, for a massive amount of people next year there would be no tax refund at all, and in fact most would owe taxes that they would have to make up out of their disposable cash.

Anyone who thinks the fiscal cliff is simply a scare tactic will think otherwise very soon. We just peered over the precipice recently when we asked our accountant to calculate what our net proceeds would be on the sale of our home (like many, we´re looking at escaping to a red state). Our home still has a significant amount of equity even after about a 30% drop in market value from the bubble burst.
So after he calculated the new 3.8% surtax on home sales for Obamacare and the proposed increase in capital gains taxes and the pending increases in state and federal taxes, voila!...we barely net out to zero. The robbery could only be more complete if there was a gun pointed at our heads when we signed the papers.

0blamers whole game is to get the massive tax increase he desires by letting what the democrats call the "Bush tax cuts" expire thus raising everyones taxes take a huge jump. Rather that proposing this he will do nothing and blame congress for letting it happen. His base of know nothing voters will fall for it hook line and sinker as their take home pay is decreased. Of course thye large number who pay no taxes will not even notice when they get their welfare checks, food stamps and subsidized housing.

That bill #21 should have been passed and sent to the senate at least 5 weeks ago and resubmitted daily with loud voices demanding the Dem Senators force Reid to bring it to the floor. The House and especially the Senate were ruined when power grabbers decided to install committees that were never intended by the Constitution. That Constitution provides for full floor votes up or down one very bill.

The real fiscal cliff will be the complete collapse of the economy if things don´t change soon. As for taxes the real taxes are the quantitative easing which amount to printing money. This dilutes the value of money right in your pocket. The official tax increases are a drop in the bucket compared to this. Diluting the currency is form of default which is not formal default but becomes inevitable at these spending levels. One way or the other government spending costs everybody.

Scandal In Libya: The secretary of state in the most transparent administration in history has her chief of staff warn a Benghazi whistle-blower to not spill the beans on Benghazi to a U.S. congressman. In the course of the career of Hillary Clinton´s husband, William Jefferson Clinton, there were handlers delegated to deal with what were famously called "bimbo eruptions," past dalliances that might impede his political career. Now on her own politically, Mrs. Clinton apparently has her own handlers, paid for by the U.S. taxpayer, to deal with what we´ll call "Benghazi eruptions."

Of all of the world´s chemical compounds, none has a worse reputation than carbon dioxide. Thanks to the single-minded demonization of this natural and essential atmospheric gas by advocates of government control of energy production, the conventional wisdom about carbon dioxide is that it is a dangerous pollutant. That´s simply not the case. Contrary to what some would have us believe, increased carbon dioxide in the atmosphere will benefit the increasing population on the planet by increasing agricultural productivity. The cessation of observed global warming for the past decade or so has shown how exaggerated NASA´s and most

Twitter has reduced historical memory to minutes, but think back to what had the political class atwitter last week. Back then the air filled with worry on the left that Barack Obama was losing his juice after the gun-control setback, the sequester backfire and the Syrian red-line roll-up. The left can breathe easy. Conservatives this week, clearly over the funk of losing to him last November, have resumed their favorite political blood sport: Tearing each other apart. The conservative tribes are at it again over that most ancient of all grievances: immigration.

Junk Science: A new NASA study says global warming could "increase the risk for extreme rainfall and drought." We´ve heard this sort of threat many times before and, no, there´s nothing to see here. According to NASA: "Analysis of computer simulations from 14 climate models indicates wet regions of the world, will see increases in heavy precipitation because of warming resulting from projected increases in carbon dioxide levels. Arid land areas outside the tropics and many regions with moderate rainfall could become drier." How about that? Heavy rain in soggy regions and drought in the parched ones.

Immigration: Free-market economist Milton Friedman once warned that open borders are incompatible with a welfare state. The $6.3 trillion cost of amnesty forecast by the Heritage Foundation illustrates it in spades. As the Gang of Eight immigration reform bill wends through Congress, it´s useful to have a report from Heritage showing just how much legalizing some 11 million unlawful immigrants will cost the taxpayers amid all the champagne-glass clinking from the anything-but-in-the-shadows illegals. The Scandal In Libya: Testimony by the Benghazi whistle-blowers presents clear evidence of shameful political manipulation of the truth seven weeks before an election and a willingness to let four Americans die to maintain a campaign narrative. What difference at this point does the truth about Benghazi make? In an emotional opening statement at Wednesday´s hearing of the House Oversight Committee, Eric Nordstrom, a regional security officer of the U.S. Mission to Libya from September 2011 to July 2012, answered that question with voice cracking and a simple declarative sentence:

In testimony before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Gregory Hicks, the former deputy chief of mission in Libya, recounted what he saw as unanswered appeals for help, taunting calls from the missing ambassador´s phone, the saddest conversation of his life and the frantic efforts of an office manager to destroy sensitive information.

Republican lawmakers, who have spent months seeking to tie President Obama to last year’s deadly attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, are increasingly focusing their probe on a new target: former secretary of state Hillary Rodham Clinton. The GOP-led investigation of the Sept. 11, 2012, assaults that killed U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three others now centers heavily on the State Department and whether officials there deliberately misled the public about the nature of the assault. Three State Department officials are scheduled to testify before a House committee on Wednesday about the Benghazi attack and its aftermath.

Christpher Stevens was missing for hours during the attack after being dragged out of the diplomatic post in Benghazi.

Sanford defeated Colbert Busch 54 percent to 45 percent, according to full unofficial results. Turnout was heavier than expected, with about 32 percent of the district’s 455,702 registered voters casting ballots. Sanford, who has never lost an election, returns to the 1st District seat he held for three terms from 1995-2001. There was tragic incompetence, plainly, in the Obama administration’s handling of the Benghazi attacks, and even possibly some political calculation. It is a record that may well come to haunt Hillary Clinton, the first Secretary of State to lose an ambassador in the field in more than three decades, if she runs for president in 2016. But the obvious Republican effort to turn this inquiry into the Democratic (Obama) version of the Iraq intelligence scandal that has tarred the GOP since the George W. University officials said they had "previously understood" that Hawking´s decision was based solely on health concerns — he is 71 and has severe disabilities — but had now been told otherwise by Hawking´s office.

Mark Sanford has won the South Carolina special election in a competitive race for what in normal circumstances is a safe Republican seat. The former governor beat Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch, the sister of comedian Stephen Colbert Busch, for the state’s 1st congressional district. The AP called the race for Sanford early in the evening, with the Republican leading Colbert Busch 54 percent 46 percent.
