Confessions of a Kwanzaa dropout:
Why I don’t celebrate the holiday

Washington Post, by Kathryn O’Neal

Original Article

Posted By:Scottyboy, 12/13/2012 6:33:56 PM

"I’m so excited!” exclaimed one of my dearest friends as she sat down for my Kwanzaa dinner a few years ago. “This is my very first Kwanzaa celebration.” Candle representing the seven Kwanzaa principles on display during the annual celebration at the Benjamin Banneker Historical Park and Museum. (Mark Gail - The Washington Post) Then only 5-years-old, my perplexed son J responded, “But Auntie Baby, I thought you were American?!?!” J was correct. Auntie Baby was a white American. But J was incorrect in thinking that every American celebrated Kwanzaa. I first started celebrating the holiday

Comments:
The author basically can´t be bothered with celebrating this bogus holiday, but is still deluded with it´s supposed meaning.
She´s an idiot and is making sure her kids will be dopes as well.

Oh, for heavens sake are they dragging that mess out again. Means nothing to most people and if they are trying to make it a national holiday, it will probably be okayed by the limp wristed prez we have.

In accord with the "living Constitution," let me introduce "the seven core principles of ´living´ [or evolving] Kwanzaa":

1. gullibility
2. an inverted, perverse, and self-destructive scale of values
3. bigotry
4. dependency
5. drugs
6. abortion
7. crooked politics
8. rimz
9. bling
10. attraction to Islam and pseudo-Islam

What? "That´s not seven"? Hey -- I said it was the "living Kwanzaa." Don´t be actin´ white.

Don´t feel bad, Kathryn. Residents of Africa don´t celebrate Kwanzaa either. In fact, 99.9% haven´t heard of it.

Karenga is a perverted creep who tortured two women with cords, soldering irons and beat them severely.

Then he turns around and creates bogus "African Studies" programs, and this Kwanzaa lunacy.

Like anything else that has no real anchor in reality, it slowly fades. The great part is that every year that goes by, you hear less and less of this foolishness.

I´m always confused by the "grace" of the African heritage... or whatever. My understanding is that no black society, prior to outside discovery, had invented the wheel, built a two-story structure, domesticated a single beast of burden, or done much of anything other than live in grass huts, and war amongst tribes (with winners enslaving losers). In fact, free blacks in America owned slaves. What use is Kwanzaa??

Seems to me that black America has never even been introduced to the seven basic values much less living those values.

The seven core principles of Kwanzaa are: unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity and faith. Keep on dreaming.

Wow, there are some seriously mean posts about this lady´s opinion. Both in the WP and here. I won´t speculate on truth of them.

Anyway, I don´t see how Black people will ever truly move forward until they knock it off with the togetherness and collectivism crap. Seriously, when a group of people´s reason to get together is because their skin color is varying shades darker than White people´s you´ve got trouble - as we all well know. What a lame way to live, even if you make up a bunch of fancy-sounding "principles" for all of you to admire.

Personally, I only get together with people I like, instead of just any jerk I may find out I want to kill.

As I´ve said before, ideology is the only thing that really matters. As a White conservative, I´d far rather be around conservative Blacks than liberal Whites (shudder!!)

Africa is a continent,not a country.
Most American blacks are descended from west African ancestors.
Kwanzaa and all the language and most of the principles associated with it come from Swahili, an east African language.
These people don´t even know their own heritage. Kwanzaa ain´t it.

The U.S. has been denied direct access to the only publicly known suspect in custody in connection with the Benghazi terror attack, Fox News has learned, with U.S. interrogators still unable to sit in the same room as the Egypt-held prisoner to ask questions. Abu Ahmed, also known as Mohammed Jamal, is suspected of establishing Islamist training camps in Eastern Libya where militants who took part in the Sept. 11 Benghazi terrorist attack were able to train. Ahmed is not suspected of directly taking part in the attack which left four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens, dead.

For the past five months, the Republican message on foreign policy message has been defined by a single word: Benghazi. Ever since the deadly September 11 attack on the U.S. compound in that Libyan city, Republicans have obsessed over the episode. Mitt Romney made Benghazi a favorite talking point in the 2012 campaign home stretch. More recently, Republicans have invoked Benghazi to shoot down one would-be cabinet nominee, Susan Rice, and delay two others, Chuck Hagel and John Brennan. Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

Gluten-free diets are all the rage, but they can be dangerous if not done right. What is gluten? It´s the spongy complex of proteins, found naturally in wheat, rye, and barley, that gives elasticity to dough and allows it to rise. When flour is moistened and either kneaded or mixed into dough, gluten molecules form an elastic, microscopic latticework that traps the carbon dioxide produced when yeast ferments, causing dough to inflate like a hot air balloon. Baking hardens the gluten, which helps the finished product keep its shape. Wheat — and gluten — is ubiquitous in the American diet.
