Colo gov says time to talk gun laws
Associated Press, by Ivan Moreno & Kristin Wyatt

DENVER — Colorado´s Gov. John Hickenlooper said "the time is right" for state lawmakers to consider gun control measures, offering his firmest stance in the aftermath of several high-profile shootings, including a movie theater rampage in suburban Denver, that have shocked the nation. The Democratic governor upset some in his party for not taking a stronger position when he said last summer that stricter laws would not haven´t prevented the mass shooting in Aurora. (Snip) "When you look at what happened in Aurora, a great deal of that damage was from the large magazine on the AR-15 (rifle). ...

Comments:
Here they go again. Hick complains that he´s "too moderate". I say he´s a failed governor, period. And he repeats the myth (lie) about the AR in the theater shooting. The rifle jammed. THAT would have been a prime opportunity for a CCW permit holder to end the threat. But no...

There is no longer any need. All the potential psychotic killers in Colorado are now stoned out of their minds and no longer pose a threat.

This from a man who hired an illegal in his brew pub. The illegal shot and killed a police officer who was hired for security at a Christening in Denver.

The killer escaped to Mexico and was only returned to the USA with the promise of no death penalty and no life in prison.

Hickenlooper is a typical lib liar.

How about banning all violence in movies and on television? If we are going to attack the Bill of Rights, let´s get to the heart of the violence problem! As for older movies that have violence in them, let´s have a big bonfire. There, I´ve solved the problem.

Actually the damage was done by the "nut" who squeezed the trigger, if he had a less then 10 round magazine, maybe the weapon would not have jammed, with him quickly reloading and doing more damage then he actually did. What government at all levels should be looking for is how to keep "nuts" from beating the government background check process and purchasing guns in the first place.

Reply 15 - Posted by: veritas, 12/13/2012 4:03:57 PM     (No. 9063947)

In inverse order, two points:

1. OK, Gov. Loopy, there are some 24,000 gun laws in the US, but guns are still used illegally in crimes of all descriptions. So, what are the magic words of your new gun law that will stop the criminally violent? Hey, did I just notice a problem the guv missed?

2. Shall not be infringed -- every one of those words has a clear, simple meaning that hasn´t changed in hundreds of years. And neither has the 2nd Amendment, and what it recognizes to be above even the Constitution itself, that is, the inalienable right to effective self-defense.

#12: Or make assault, battery, and murder illegal. Seems more on-point than going roundabout via gun laws.

If you´re going to talk about gun control, Governor, you should at least try to learn a little something about guns. You could start by learning what an "assaiult weapon" really is, not what Dem-lefty know-nothings apply the term to. You might also learn the difference between the rifle (which isn´t designed to penetrate ANYTHING) and the cartridge. But I´m not gonna hold my breath waiting for you to do that.

I thought it was already against the law to kill someone with a gun, or otherwise, unless there is a perfectly good reason to do it. Like Mr. Foster, for example.
