Income Malaise of Middle
Class Complicates Democrats’
Stance in Talks

New York Times, by Annie Lowrey

WASHINGTON — The income stagnation that has hit the middle class in the last decade is complicating the Democrats’ position in the fiscal talks, making it more difficult for them to advocate across-the-board tax increases if a deal falls through. Many Democrats have derided the expiring tax cuts as irresponsible since President George W. Bush signed them a decade ago. Yet the party is united in pushing to make the vast majority of them permanent, even though President Obama could ensure their expiration at year’s end with a simple veto.

The party that forced Bush to accept a sunshine provision on his lowered rates now wants to keep the sun shining. But Messiah Obama said these evil rates created the problem (never explaining how), and that "we won´t go back" no matter how much we want to, to the years of prosperity & economic growth.

Are we nearing a point where Democrats are finally realizing that Obama´s policies are both delusional & destructive? Yesterday, Democrat Senators spoke openly about repealing ObamaCare, including the Illinois radical, Dick Durbin.

Media is focusing on GOP squabbles over pleasing Obama while ignoring Dems displeasure with Obama.

This is a very subtle play of the NY Times. A Congress of both parties agreed to what is coming and the President signed the bill. The tax cuts from both sides, the Payroll Tax Holiday, and Emergency Unemployment all end. The Sequester kicks in Jan 1. The first few of many Obamacare taxes begin. The Slimes is playing this as a problem for the GOP to solve. The Dems want the tax increase, they just want it to be poison pill for the GOP by insisting that taxes go up for the rich. Lets see how the poor and middle class like being taxed more. If you don´t let people learn what misery awaits when the Dems take control, you will get a carbon tax and possibly a VAT before the year is out.

Governor Scott Walker (R-WIS) is one of those rare politicians who is pragmatic, honest, and actually keeps his campaign promises. Prior to his election, Wisconsin faced a $3.6 billion dollar budget deficit, an unemployment rate of 7.8%, and a 27% increase in property taxes. Under his leadership, Wisconsin now enjoys a $342 million budget surplus, a decline in property taxes, and an unemployment rate of 6.7%. He survived a recall election, winning with a higher percentage of the vote than the original election. American Thinker had the privilege of interviewing Governor Walker about his recent book, Unintimidated: A Governor´s Story

With its high murder rate, crushing poverty and gun crime, Chicago´s South Side is a notoriously hard neighborhood to grow up in. Youngsters who live in the same streets that produced rappers such as Chief Keef, King Louie and Fredo Santana face violence every day. The day-to-day existence of their tough lives have been documented by New York photographer Daniel Shea, who spent a month in South Side earlier this year. From members of the Blockheadz to the memorial for a six-month-old baby who was murdered, Shea´s photos reveal the harsh reality faced by those living in the neighborhood´s apartments.

SAFETY HARBOR, Fla. — Alex Sink was running late, but she was still in a chipper mood. “How is everybody?” the Democrat cheerfully asked her team of door-knockers on a recent campaign swing this Central Florida district. Judging by the usual campaign metrics, Sink has a lot to be upbeat about in her quest to replace one of the longest-serving Republicans in the history of the U.S. House. She faces a weak Republican field roiled by family drama, she is raising a lot of money and she boasts a résumé free of congressional baggage. She is the Democrats’ dream candidate

People who regularly visit a place of worship are less likely to get involved in low level crime and delinquency, according to new research. A survey from Manchester University found a direct correlation between higher visits to religious places and lower crime figures, especially in relation to shoplifting, drug use and music piracy. Researchers believe this is because religion not only teaches people about ´moral and behavioural norms´, but also spending time with like-minded people makes it less likely they´ll get mixed up with the ´wrong crowd´. As part of the project, more than 1,200 18 to 34-year-olds from across

The glitch-plagued Obamacare website that has failed thousands of people trying to sign up for health insurance is getting an emergency review from just one private consultant — news that surprised experts who yesterday said the system needs a deeper probe. The Bedford-based nonprofit government contractor MITRE Corp. began the review of the $69 million website on Jan. 6 and is expected to submit a report by Friday — a time span of less than two weeks. “Given the short time period for the report you would want a whole team of people looking at different angles, from the application

Israel´s Defense Minister, Moshe "Boogy" Ya´alon, is facing criticism from the opposition after slamming U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry. The Israeli daily Yediot Ahronot reported earlier on Tuesday that the outspoken Ya´alon had said that Kerry, who recently completed his tenth trip to the region in less than a year on the job, "turned up here determined and acting out of misplaced obsession and messianic fervor" for a peace deal. Ya´alon added: "In reality, there have been no negotiations between us and the Palestinians for all these months --but rather between us and the Americans. The only thing that

CHARLESTON, W.Va.—Officials in Kentucky and Ohio were preparing Monday for the arrival of a slow-moving, 60-mile-long chemical plume drifting toward them down the Ohio River, after its accidental release prompted a five-day water ban here. While many said they didn´t foresee a major problem, they also weren´t taking chances after the release of the chemical, called 4-methylcyclohexane methanol, or MCHM. Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley said his city is going to shut down its water valves for 48 hours beginning Tuesday night, but has enough stored supply to continue providing water. If there is one thing that people all across the ideological spectrum should be able to agree on, it is that better education is desperately needed by black youngsters, especially in the ghettoes. For most, it is their one chance for a better life. Among the few bright spots in a generally dismal picture of the education of black students are those successful charter schools or voucher

Black dogs don´t get as adopted as easily as others animals of other colors. The reason is largely because of some common misconceptions about them. Black dogs are mischaracterized as mean and potentially violent and according to NBC News. Black Dog Syndrome is a phenomenon in which dogs with black fur often go unadopted because of misinformed stereotypes. Black dogs are are euthanized at a much higher rate than dogs with different complexions. Many owners of black dogs say they are sweet, lovable, but also unwanted. The chances of being adopted are poor if you´re a black dog.

Only days after we learned the Obama administration had appointed an Obama donor to head investigations into the IRS targeting of conservative organizations, we now have a leak from law enforcement saying the FBI doesn’t expect to file criminal charges. That’s the gist of a late-breaking story Monday evening in The Wall Street Journal. The story notes that though the investigation may go on another few months, unless other evidence is unearthed, the FBI conclusion will be that the IRS was a “mismanaged bureaucracy” enforcing rules “ it didn’t understand.” Without the evidence, we’re not in a position to say. In 1994 or early 1995 the still unknown Barack Obama sent his editor at Times Books, Henry Ferris, the first two-thirds of his memoir Dreams from My Father. He told Ferris that to complete the book, he had to return to Kenya to do some research. The evidence strongly suggests that Obama went not to Kenya to do that research but to the local library to do some borderline plagiarizing. In the way of background, Barack and Michelle Obama visited Kenya in the summer of 1992 and married in October of that year. There is little dispute about the timing of

Washington - Just days after dismissing two top advisers for their roles in the George Washington Bridge scandal, New Jersey Gov. The news couldn´t come at a worse time for the scandal-plagued Republican, who is facing two probes into whether his staff tied up traffic near the country´s busiest bridge to punish a Democratic mayor who refused to endorse his successful re-election bid.

Before Chris Christie’s first scandal devolves into an obsessive quest to prove who knew what, when, it’s worth pausing to appreciate the wonderful, quintessential New Jerseyness of the incident itself. What happened, roughly, is this. On August 13, Bridget Anne Kelly, one of Christie’s three deputy chiefs of staff, sent an email to David Wildstein, a Christie confidant serving as an executive for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which controls much of the transit infrastructure of northern Jersey. Kelly said that it was “time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee.” Some speculate that the precipitating
