Ancient Extinct Lizard Named

A newly discovered lizard that went extinct during prehistoric times now shares a name with President Barack Obama. A new study by Yale researcher Nicholas Longrich published Monday has found that 85 percent of lizard and snake species, long thought to have survived an asteroid blast that wiped out dinosaurs some 65 million years ago, went extinct at the same time. Among the casualties was a foot-long lizard that lived in Montana, that Longrich has named "The Obamadon." The Obamadon was probably a foot long, with these tall, slender teeth it used to eat insects and plant matter,

Comments:
"The Obamadon" Most of the Posters here knew we had a slitherin´ critter in the WH. This seems to give him his historical precedence.

Any word that comes to mind that I would put before "-don" in naming something after Zippy would get me permanently banned from this site.

The alternate theory is that the 0bamadon became extinct from eating the plant matter from its mate´s garden.

Lizard? Obamadon was most likely a red weasel whose face-camoflage changed depending upon which animals he was with. Obamadon organized the other animals and was known to throw some under the stegosaurus when he grew tired of them.

A new theory from author Ed Klein — who previously penned “The Amateur,” about President Obama’s White House leadership — suggests that senior adviser Valerie B. Jarrett orchestrated the chief executive’s strategies in the government shutdown. The New York Post reported that Ms. Jarrett held several late-night sessions with Mr. Obama at his residence and from there came the strategy of “no negotiation,” Mr. Klein believes.

The son of the Nevada rancher locked in an increasingly tense land dispute with the federal government, says their cowboys managed to break a blockade and retrieve around 30 head of cattle. Federal agents swooped on Tuesday after Cliven Bundy, dubbed the last remaining rancher in southern Nevada, refused to remove his herd of 900 cows from land he claims has been in his family since 1870. The heavily-armed federal agents, equipped with eight helicopters and backed-up by snipers, surrounded the Bundy ranch after the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) attained a federal court order to confiscate the family´s herd. Barack Obama got quite the handful on Thursday, April 10, but it was all for a good cause! As the President of the United States was boarding Air Force One with his wife Michelle Obama, a gust of wind blew up her skirt. Barack quickly stepped in and grabbed the First Lady´s billowing skirt to help her avoid a wardrobe malfunction and embarrassing Marilyn Monroe moment. Earlier in the week, another famous lady on the global stage suffered a similar snafu, but no one was around to help her -- not even her prince!

A new review is questioning the effectiveness of two key drugs enlisted in the fight against influenza and in turn the investments by governments to stockpile the drugs in the event of a global flu outbreak. The antiviral drugs Tamiflu (oseltamivir) and Relenza (zanamivir ) are commonly used to treat influenza in healthy adults and children. In the case of Tamiflu, the drug does shorten symptoms of influenza by about half a day - as the manufacturer suggests - but there is insufficient evidence to support claims that it reduces hospital admissions or serious complications, such as confirmed pneumonia or

Big Government: As students flood Twitter with images of inedible slop, it´s clear that Michelle Obama´s government school lunch revamp is a costly failure. It´s time to get the feds out of kids´ lunch boxes. The $12 billion federal student lunch program, which serves 30.7 million kids, is losing participants fast — more than a million just last year, according to a recent Government Accountability Office report. Solar power has won the global argument. Photovoltaic energy is already so cheap that it competes with oil, diesel and liquefied natural gas in much of Asia without subsidies. Roughly 29pc of electricity capacity added in America last year came from solar, rising to 100pc even in Massachusetts and Vermont.[Snip] The technology is improving so fast--helped by the US military--that it has achieved a virtous circle.
