GOP senator slams USDA for not
answering questions on policies
contributing to record food stamp use

Daily Caller, by Caroline May

Original Article

Posted By:sparky86, 12/11/2012 3:57:42 PM

Following news that participation in the food stamp program hit another record high in September, Alabama Republican Sen. Jeff Sessions took to the Senate floor Tuesday to lambast the Department of Agriculture for failing to respond to an oversight request regarding USDA policies that have likely contributed to the expansion of the program. “America is a generous and compassionate nation. We do not want to have people hungry in our country,” Sessions, the Ranking Member on the Senate Budget Committee said.

Comments:
At least somebody is asking questions. Jeez.

Those on food stamps should be asking the WH "where are the JOBS", instead of blindly voting.

Once they get on the "dole" - they never come off.

USDA should require each state to take one letter of the alphabet and verify the "qualifications" of recipients in a rolling cycle.

Not only are there too many people getting food stamps, but they are getting too much!

A teacher told a family member that she was getting $800 per month food stamps. That is $9600 TAX FREE per year.

The re-selling of the extras is a black market bonanza.

Cut them all in half and phase them out!

For the 1st time I can recall, The Farm Bill was not renewed. The USDA then went to meet with farmers and lambasted them for whining... and told them their future was to focus on exports not American consumers...

Huh?!!!!

For the first time ever, our local TV channel is encouraging everyone to sign up for food stamps. Around here, the grifters go to food pantries, then sell their food stamps.

On Monday’s broadcast of MSNBC “Morning Joe,” host Joe Scarborough voiced his agreement with Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain, who on Sunday’s “Face the Nation” on CBS questioned those Republicans who are threatening a filibuster on pending gun control legislation. Scarborough said such a filibuster would be an example of the GOP putting “rapists’ rights ahead over parents’ rights.” “[I] tell you what, Richard Haass, I saw John McCain there,” Scarborough said. “And I’m hopeful. Because, you know, there are a lot of guys out there in the Senate and they are going out because it’s a free shot.

As the Gang of Eight negotiates and prepares to roll out a comprehensive immigration reform bill, members of the “gang” have not publicly addressed concerns that remain about policies surrounding law already on the books — specifically one relating to immigrant dependence on welfare. Section 212(a)(4) of the Immigration and Nationality Act prohibits individuals likely to become primarily reliant on the government for survival: “An alien who, in the opinion of the consular officer at the time of application for a visa, or in the opinion of the Attorney General at the time of application for

On this weekend’s broadcast of “Inside Washington,” Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer said the two gay marriage cases currently before the Supreme Court could lead to an all-out assault on religion in the United States. “It gets really sticky,” Krauthammer said. “If the court were to decide that to deny same-sex marriage is unconstitutional, then you got Georgetown University – a Jesuit university [that offers] married student housing. It’s a Catholic University. So [when] it says it’s only going to allow heterosexuals, it will get sued. This will become an assault on religion.

In Alabama, no state legislator, Republican or Democrat, would ever question gun rights, given the state’s conservative leanings and rural setting. But Democratic Alabama State Rep. Joseph Mitchell of Mobile, Ala. has a curious take on why his constituents in his majority African-American district should appreciate their Second Amendment rights. In emails sent from Mitchell’s official state legislature account obtained by the blog Yellow Hammer Politics and published Wednesday morning, Mitchell had a heated exchange with a constituent identified as Eddie Maxwell and provided his own defense of the Second Amendment.

The law, said Rockefeller, is “so complicated and if it isn’t done right the first time, it will just simply get worse.” Rockefeller’s consternation echoes comments made earlier this

Only one of my six children has left New York for economic reasons but the strain of living in this expensive nanny state is weighing heavy on my other five and their families. As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.

In Philadelphia, at a human abattoir on Lancaster Avenue, is where it ends, not where it starts. It starts with the perversion of language. It starts when the icons of a dissipated culture reduce a baby to a “fetus.” From there, Yeats’s blood-dimmed tide rolls rapidly in. Before long, a baby is not a person but a punishment, as President Barack Obama framed the matter in his familiar off-the-cuff iciness. Of course, to describe newborn children in their boundless possibilities and wonder would be to acknowledge, foremost, their humanity. That is why, instead, abortion enthusiasts must grope for words

But eight former employees of a run-down West Philadelphia abortion clinic now face prison time for the work they did for Dr. Kermit Gosnell. Three have pleaded guilty to third-degree murder. And Gosnell, 72, is on trial in the deaths of a patient and seven babies allegedly born alive. In testimony at the capital murder trial this past month, an unlicensed doctor and untrained aides described long, chaotic days at the clinic. They said they performed grueling, often gruesome work for little more than minimum wage,

Pro golfers, golf writers, and TV commentators are up in arms that Tiger Woods was only given a 2-stroke penalty for his illegal drop on the 15th hole yesterday. Tiger said last night that he dropped his ball two yards behind his previous spot, clearly violating the rule that you must drop "as nearly as possible" to your original spot. Golf people are not happy about it. They say that the new rule is B.S. (or it´s at least being misinterpreted), and Tiger should DQ himself to save the integrity of the game.

With President Obama, there’s always a catch. In the 2014 budget he announced last week, Obama proposed a more accurate way of calculating the inflation rate for annual cost-of-living increases in Social Security. It’s a technical change in pursuit of honesty and good government. And if adopted, it would cause benefits to grow more slowly, though almost imperceptibly so. Republican leaders in Congress ought to be delighted since they had “championed”—Obama’s word—the idea in the first place. Then came the catch. The president’s price for adopting this gentle reform was hundreds of billions in new tax increases.
