Ceremony to honor
S.F.´s namesake ship

San Francisco Chronicle, by Carl Nolte

Original Article

Posted By:Ribicon, 12/11/2012 2:14:47 PM

It´s the 70th anniversary of a lustrous day in San Francisco´s maritime history. On this day in 1942, the cruiser San Francisco came home from the war, scarred, battered and victorious. The arrival of the San Francisco set off a big celebration in the city - a parade up Market Street, a solemn Mass at St. Mary´s cathedral to honor those who died, and a ceremony honoring the heroes of the big naval battle off the Solomon Islands and Guadalcanal. "It was a great day," said Johnny Johnson, who was aboard the San Francisco in the battle and served on the ship

Comments:
Story about the days when "cruiser" and "rear admiral" still bore their traditional definitions.

Today´s San Franciscans would protest the ship´s return and spit on the sailors.

When the Navy was recommissioning the battleships in the eighties and wanted to homeport one in San Francisco, then-Mayor Feinstein put a stop to idea. The Navy ultimately made the right choice and BRAC´d everything in the Bay Area. Everything.

I can see it now. The ship would be protested by freaky looking, hairy legged women as it docked.

Then all the sailors would have to go down the the Castro District for some indoctrination into the homosexual lifestyle so that they could be more accepting of their homosexual shipmates. I´m sure the locals would even put on one of those ´´special parades´´ for them...

Do Not belittle the bravery of the men who took the Cruiser San Francisco into harm´s way during WWII. They understood.
Back then Men were Men, and Women were Women.

Not like today, when reality is blurred, and hazy;everything seems to be gender confused.

The memorial is well worth a visit if you visit SF. A section of the shell torn bridge is on display along with a plaque honoring those who were killed. Also a chance to admire some beautiful views of the Golden Gate Bridge from the Pacific Ocean side.

Hundreds of armed police have been placed around Paris´ major tourist monuments because of an influx of criminal gangs from eastern Europe. They´ve fallen through the cracks: millions of jobless or underemployed New Yorkers whose daily struggle is to find work and food. They certainly don´t show up in the 9.1 percent unemployment rate for the city, since they have exhausted those benefits. But the number of city residents on food stamps is on pace to jump this year from just above 1 million in 2007 to a breathtaking 2 million sometime this summer. That’s equals almost 50 percent of the city´s labor force today, which, according to the latest government calculations, shrank by nearly 200,000 people since 2011. There´s also 176,000

New York — Federal mortgage payment relief has been extended up to one year for more than 200,000 homeowners whose houses were damaged by Superstorm Sandy. U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan announced the extension for homeowners with Federal Housing Administration-insured loans on Friday. A previous mortgage payment extension for federally-backed home loans was set to expire on April 30. About 286,000 homeowners with FHA-insured loans were affected by the late October storm, with nearly 96,000 in New York. Donovan said the 12-month extension was meant to help homeowners still struggling to rebuild avoid foreclosure.

Nashville, Tenn. - A proposal that would dock the welfare payments of parents whose children fail school is dead. After about a 40-minute debate on the Senate floor Thursday, Republican Senator Sponsor Stacey Campfield decided to pull the bill so it can be studied over the summer. Both Republicans and Democrats expressed concern about the legislation, which sought to cut Temporary Assistance for Needy Families benefits by 30 percent if a child fails to advance to the next grade. The money could be earned back if a parent attends two conferences with teachers, takes parenting classes or enrolls the child in

Few Americans can not answer this question: who is the worst domestic mass murderer in United States’ history? Due to the United States media, most are aware that Timothy McVeigh slaughtered 168 people with a bomb in 1995. Most Americans also know the names of our three most monstrous serial killers: “The Green River Killer” Gary Ridgeway, Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy. The U.S. media is again responsible for the general awareness of these men; these stories deserved — and received — national attention due to our common interest in personal safety, the rule of law

Here is something I don’t understand: liberals are often revealed as vile, vulgar hatemongers–not all of them, of course, but far too many–yet they never seem to pay a penalty at the polls. Why is that? Margaret Thatcher’s death has been the latest occasion for the Left to show its true stripes. All across the U.K., there have been demonstrations–vulgar at best, and violent at worst. In Bristol, lefties celebrating a Thatcher “death street party” started fires, destroyed property and battled police: This evening in Trafalgar Square, liberals have turned out for a long-planned celebration of Thatcher’s death:
