| Propaganda: The president has rewarded his campaign loyalists from MSNBC with an off-schedule West Wing meeting, where he´s given them new talking points to win the next battle over taxes. Yes, this state-press collusion is happening in your capital, not just Caracas or Havana. The lovefest between Obama and MSNBC toadies Lawrence O´Donnell, Rachel Maddow, Ed Schultz and Al Sharpton actually took place on Dec. 4. A White House spokesperson confirmed the president met with them and other "influential progressives" to discuss the "importance of extending the Bush middle-class tax cut" — not to mention mau-mauing Republicans against

Pravda being "truth", and Izvestia meaning "news", brings to mind the remark by a Soviet wag. To wit: there is no Izvestia in Pravda, and no Pravda in Izvestia.

with all due respect still to WSJ ... the only ´real´ newspaper left in America is IBD.
this is a complex, complicated topic, and probably more subjective than not. Love Taranto, Henniger, DorothyL, Gigot ... but it is IBD carrying the fight singlehandedly. That´s because the marketplace and audience do not realize how far left they have been pushed already under fears of being called ´racist´ or ´regressive´.
When Barry Ritholz, the supposedly ´widely-followed´ financial blogger starts citing NPR ´reports´ of ´studies´ that this present GOP House of Representatives is the most extreme since Lincoln´s 1860 COngress... well you know that propaganda is flying so thick they don´t care about any professional standards ... and no one is calling out the propaganda flowing out of Washington Post, NYTimes networks, etc. .....
It is worse than most understand or realize ...
The media/entertainment/academia do not realize thay have become willing enthuiastic old soviet-style Pravda-like narrative shapers.
FDR had a lot of super lefties and early stge bolshevik admirers ..... but they wanted to keep America America not make it into Europe (see Sen Paul Simon) .... Team 44 wants to go beyond present-day Europe. No one understands what just place this past election ... not Chris Christie, Bloomberg, the media, nor the GOP ... and least of all the sheep of the Northeast and West Coasts.

What we learned on November 6 is that MSNBC is more influential than Fox News. MSNBC was allowed to function openly as an arm (or tentacle) of the Obama campaign, other Obama campaign operatives were allowed to moderate the debates, and hardly any mention of this corruption was made. Hats off, MSNBC, you got away with murder. And, because no one in the GOP will name names and call media corruption/crimes to account, you are still on the air.

Relatively small, preaching to the choir station. Their numbers don´t even compare to Fox.
You know RFK jr,who possibly hung his ex wife is out there blaming Fox for the country´s division,I guess because they don´t toe the Obama propaganda line.
Obviously,it´s Obama who´s dividing the country along racial and class lines.
You have one group of people who have to work into their 60´s to retire while you have another group who can retire at age 17 simply by having an out of wedlock baby.Yet this is fair in the left´s world.
Even if you agree that it´s the government´s job to help people, help is a far cry from a parachute through life.

DUBAI - A powerful earthquake killed four people in southern Iran on Tuesday close to the country´s only nuclear power station, state television and agencies reported. A Red Cross official said two villages had been heavily damaged by the magnitude 6.3 quake but the Russian company that built the Bushehr plant said the reactor was undamaged. Offices in the capitals of Qatar and Bahrain were evacuated after the quake, whose epicenter was 89 km (55 miles) southeast of the port city of Bushehr, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

President Post-partisan is submitting a bait-and-switch budget to Congress this week: more taxes, more spending, and it´s only two months after the legal deadline. So that´s another year for the locusts. Scott Johnson at Powerline was already talking about the year the locusts ate at the end of 2009. For a bit of context, Winston Churchill gave his "Locust Years" speech in November 1936, and he was talking about the mere two years that the locusts had eaten since Hitler had come to power and started rearmament.

So maybe life in the old days wasn´t all Ozzy and Harriet, or Wally and Beaver. In their day, however, we do know that one in ten school-age children were not being diagnosed with ADHD. That also means two-thirds of those children were not being treated with stimulants like Ritalin and Adderall. Neither were 5% of 12-19 year olds taking anti-depressants. This raises the question: besides the egregious influence of pill-pushing pharmaceutical companies, what was different in American life previous to the prescription drug culture in which our children now live?

North Korea intensified threats of an imminent conflict against the United States and the South on Tuesday, warning foreigners to evacuate South Korea to avoid being dragged into a "merciless, sacred, retaliatory war". The North´s latest antagonistic message belied an atmosphere free of anxiety in the South Korean capital, where the city center was bustling with traffic and offices operated normally. Pyongyang has shown no sign of preparing its 1.2 million-strong army for war, indicating the threat could be partly intended to bolster Kim Jong-un, 30, the third in his family to lead the reclusive country.

Mrs. Thatcher’s predecessor as prime minister, the amiable but forgotten Sunny Jim Callaghan, once confided to a friend of mine that he thought Britain’s decline was irreversible and that the government’s job was to manage it as gracefully as possible. By 1979, even this modest aim seemed beyond the capabilities of the British establishment, and the nation turned to a woman who was one of the few even in a supposedly “conservative” party not to subscribe to the Callaghan thesis. She reversed the decline, at home and overseas.

HARTFORD, Conn. -- With time running out on the chance to pass gun control legislation, President Barack Obama on Monday warned Congress not to use delaying tactics against tighter regulations and told families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims that he´s "determined as ever" to honor their children with tougher laws. Obama´s gun control proposals have run into resistance on Capitol Hill, leaving their fate in doubt. The Pentagon has plans to deploy its first ever ship-mounted laser next year, a disruptive, cutting-edge weapon capable of obliterating small boats and unmanned aerial vehicles with a blast of infrared energy. Navy officials announced Monday that in early 2014, a solid-state laser prototype will be mounted to the fantail of the USS Ponce and sent to the 5th fleet region in the Middle East for real-world experience. Video released by the Navy shows the laser lock onto a slow-moving target, in this case an unmanned drone, which bursts aflame in mid-flight. The drone soon

Margaret Thatcher had more impact on the world than any woman ruler since Catherine the Great of Russia. Not only did she turn around—decisively—the British economy in the 1980s, she also saw her methods copied in more than 50 countries. "Thatcherism" was the most popular and successful way of running a country in the last quarter of the 20th century and into the 21st. Her origins were humble. Born Oct. 13, 1925, she was the daughter of a grocer in the Lincolnshire town of Grantham. Alfred Roberts was no ordinary shopkeeper.

President Obama will tell Senate Republicans it’s “not right” to filibuster his gun control agenda, according to excerpts of his the prepared remarks he will make Monday in Connecticut. “Some back in Washington are already floating the idea that they might use political stunts to prevent votes on any of these reforms,” Obama will say, according to the remarks. “They’re not just saying they’ll vote ‘no’ on ideas that almost all Americans support. They’re saying they won’t allow any votes on them at all. They’re saying your opinion doesn’t matter. And that’s not right.”

In that dreary winter of 1979, the piles of uncollected trash in London´s Finsbury Park seemed to stretch for miles. The garbagemen were on strike. So too, at one time or another, were hospital workers, ambulance drivers, truck drivers, railwaymen. Also gravediggers: In Liverpool, corpses had to be warehoused as they awaited burial—yet another long queue that socialist Britain had arranged for its patient masses. This was the "Winter of Discontent," when Great Britain came about as close to economic collapse as at nearly any point in its peacetime history, and it was

The report cited United Kingdom diplomats, saying Pyongyang was demanding the U.S. president personally call Kim Jong-un as one of the conditions to relieve the current conflict at hand. Itar-Tass also quoted the U.K.’s Sky News as saying North Korea currently has eight nuclear warheads.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

There was growing buzz over the weekend that a bipartisan agreement on gun control — a deal that would expand background checks — could hit the floor as early as this week. However, any deal could be derailed by the looming threat of a Republican filibuster involving Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. With Cruz standing proudly in the way of any gun legislation, Democrats are trying to make him pay a political price — and even a couple of high-profile Republicans are questioning his tactics.
