Democrats (Heart) Socialism
American Spectator, by Larry Thornberry

Original Article

On the strength of a capitalist economic system, America created a material standard of living for the world to envy while providing its citizens with high levels of personal freedom. But today capitalism, and attendant freedom, are being systematically dismantled in America (and being depth-charged in Europe), while understanding and appreciation of these things are receding. Gallup provides proof of this, and confirms conservatives´ fears and suspicions. Loyal elves in the media wing of the Democratic Party establishment -- aka the mainstream media -- hyperventilate when Barack Obama is identified as a socialist,

Democrats love Socialism.
Duh. Duh. Duh. Duh. Duh. Duh. Duh. Duh. Duh.
Did I mention Duh?

But don´t forget, they are patriotic Americans - even though Socialism is the polar opposite and mortal enemy of the Constitution.

Duh.

Democrats and other socialists "approve" of small businesses because they have faux romantic, Norman Rockwell, "It´s a Wonderful Life" view of them. A small business is Pop´s Hardware down on the corner where everything is dusty and nobody knows what anything is, and the coffee shop out by the highway that serves lousy coffee and worse eggs and the waitress is grumpy, but hey, all the old timers go there. In other words, it´s all part of the whole "it takes a village" schtick. They don´t approve of small businesses when it comes to dry cleaners and chrome platers and all the other day-to-day reality businesses that in fact make our society possible, but don´t look good from the window of a Prius.

The ultimate struggle with the Leftists and Socialists is not economic or fiscal. It is and has always been cultural. If you cede high ground there, as Conservatives have been doing for the last two generations, the rest is as automatic as water flowing downhill.
They know this. Which is why those who oppose them culturally are ridiculed (the entire night time talk show industry is based on this), vilified, smeared, viciously attacked along with under age members of their families. Does anyone else see this pattern?

Prospering countries always end up neutering themselves. We become kinder and gentler with even conservatives becoming "compassionate." We become a country only mom can like: we share and share alike. Dad, once necessary in the wilderness, becomes America´s appendix.

I received a forwarded email message and was unable to locate its source, so with apologies will paraphrase here: Regarding the Romney horse in the Olympics and how they were hounded by the media for their wealth....

So the Romneys are selfish for keeping a horse? And employing a groom with a family to support. And employing a trainer with a family to support. And employing a veterinarian with a family to support. And employing a farrier with a family to support. And paying for feed that´s sold by someone with a family to support and transported in trucks by someone with a family to support.... Well, it went on and on, and is exactly what socialists will never understand.

It also ended by pointing out that one horse has done more to put Americans to work than the socialist occupying the white house.

In these selfie times when freedom, joy and posterity are just a head-tilt, grin and finger-click away, it is only fitting that the United States of America would have as commander-in-chief the undisputed King of Selfies. The Selfie Presidency for the Selfie Generation in a Selfie World. President Obama is that rightful king. There he is with the greatest baseball players of our day. The president mugging for a selfie outside the White House. Later he feigned outrage when it became public that the picture of him with Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz and a “44” jersey was just part of

Good news: thanks to a ruling by the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Monday, the "most transparent administration in history" is going to have to tell American citizens when it believes it´s legally entitled to kill them. The lawsuit arose out of Freedom of Information Act requests by two New York Times reporters for Office of Legal Counsel memoranda exploring the circumstances under which it would be legal for U.S. personnel to target American citizens. The administration stonewalled, asserting that "the very fact of the existence or nonexistence of such documents is itself classified," and a federal district judge

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. — Sen. Lindsey Graham recognized the threat years before it had a chance to form — and knew immediately what he had to do. After the tea party wave in the 2010 election, right-wing groups were itching to get one of South Carolina’s newly elected conservative congressmen to challenge Graham, the blunt-spoken, deal-making congressional veteran of two decades. Rep. Mick Mulvaney, a favorite of the grass roots, was high on their list. So when Graham got wind in 2012 that Mulvaney wanted a seat on the House Financial Services Committee, he quietly lobbied his longtime friend, Speaker John Boehner, to

If you have student loans, chances are you wish there was a way to make them disappear. And in a way, there is: The federal government now offers three repayment plans that lower monthly payments and will—eventually—forgive remaining debt. A separate plan forgives loans for people who take certain public-service jobs. Some of these options, however, are so new that nobody knows how well they´ll serve borrowers. Even when it comes to well-established repayment plans, many students don´t truly understand their options. And some analysts say that policy adjustments are needed to ensure that students don´t get too comfortable taking on

The Democratic Party’s obsession with income inequality and “the one percent” is factually misguided, science has found. Over the weekend, leading academic professor Mark R. Rank discussed the findings of a recent scientific study on income inequality in the New York Times. It turns out that, according to scientific data, the Left’s horror stories about a rigid class structure in the United States fueled by nefarious, wealth-hoarding one-percenters is false. “The picture drawn of the 1 percent has been that of a static population, just as the 99 percent is often portrayed as unchanging,” Rank writes. “There is a line drawn between

You can often tell when advocates of one side in an argument fear they will ultimately lose. They change their branding. A few years ago, warnings about “global warming” were replaced with scare stories about “climate change.” One reason? The Earth had stopped appreciably warming in the late 1990s, making the change a PR necessity. Supporters of affirmative action are now signaling similar weakness. What was called “racial quotas” in the 1970s and has been referred to as “affirmative action” since the 1990s is giving way to a new term: “race-sensitive admission policies.” The language shift is telling — race-based preferences

Would you boycott a family dinner because your grandfather holds some politically incorrect views about welfare recipients? Or, would you uninvite a neighboring family from attending a block party after learning that they attend an evangelical church that upholds a traditional definition of marriage? Most reasonable people would say “no,” adhering to the old adage that it’s rude to talk politics in polite company. Unfortunately, this rule of etiquette that has governed civil society for ages seems to be quickly evaporating in the world of commerce, as highlighted by the now notorious case of Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich. The attempts of defenders of Obamacare to rouse the American people in favor of the doomed monstrosity have become more desperate and bizarre. The most recent example is taking place in Florida, where the sudden death of a young uninsured woman is being cited as an indictment of the Republican-controlled state legislature for refusing to approve the Medicaid expansion so generously being offered by the feds. If the woman in question had access to federally-mandated Medicaid, they argue, she would of course have gone in for preventative screening which would have revealed her cardiac abnormality and somehow saved her life.

Just ask Gallup—where you will find environmental concerns pretty much at the bottom of what activates people’s neurons, and, within that diminishing category, the iconic specter of dreaded global warming ranks near the bottom of environmental concerns. The abolitionists told them that the property they owned must be forfeited, that all the wealth stored in the limbs and wombs of their property would be taken from them. Zeroed out. In a new book released today, Massachusetts Democratic senator and potential presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren attempts to rewrite history regarding the controversy surrounding her “Native American” ancestry that emerged in the 2012 Senate campaign. What’s remarkable is that, at least in the initial book reviews, the press largely allows her to get away with it. In fact, it’s virtually ignored that to this day Warren still refuses to release any law school records that may shed light on this controversy. To be fair, most reviews note that Warren has never substantiated her claims of Native American heritage, which is true.

The Obama administration is poised to entertain a flood of new clemency applications from thousands of federal prisoners who were given harsh sentences under mandatory-minimum laws following drug convictions, Attorney General Eric Holder said Monday. Holder said in a short videotaped statement that he wants to shrink the federal prison population by a modest amount while ensuring ´that those who have paid their debts have a chance to become productive citizens.´ At the center of the move is a set of old sentencing rules that punished crack-cocaine offenders with more time behind bars than users or traffickers of powder cocaine.

If Jeb reaches for the nomination, there will be a titanic battle between the party establishment and the Tea Party. Steve Schmidt, McCain’s strategist in 2008, insists that in the end Republicans usually settle on the most electable candidate. To get by, this Bush may be forced to trim his positions, although the cautionary tale of Romney suggests that he would have to tack artfully and carefully for the sake of the general election. Certainly he will have the resources to outlast, discredit, and disqualify his rivals.

Washington - Michelle Obama said "splurging is the key to life" if you regularly eat right and stay active. Her biggest guilty pleasure: French fries. "How would you appreciate vegetables if you never had chocolate?" she asked. "You couldn´t live without a little chocolate, a little French fries." The first lady took questions from children reporters Monday after appearing at the White House Easter Egg Roll. She told the children that if they eat right the majority of the time, then a splurge or snack is not going to hurt them. "I still splurge when I can, but that's why I try to exercise almost every day," she said.

The shock is that the same poll found his disapproval level down to its lowest since last fall. There’s a pattern of falsifying statistics throughout the entire Census Bureau. As I’ve been writing for more than six months, the Census Bureau office in Philadelphia uncovered a case of fraud in 2010, did nothing about it and allowed the practice to continue. In that instance, a data collector named Julius Buckmon was faking reports that went into the nation’s all-important jobless tally and consumer-inflation survey.
