Mayan apocalypse: panic
spreads as December 21 nears

Telegraph [UK], by Nick Allen, Malcolm Moore & Tom Parfitt

Original Article

Posted By:StormCnter, 12/9/2012 4:58:25 AM

Ahead of December 21, which marks the conclusion of the 5,125-year "Long Count" Mayan calendar, panic buying of candles and essentials has been reported in China and Russia, along with an explosion in sales of survival shelters in America. In France believers were preparing to converge on a mountain where they believe aliens will rescue them. The precise manner of Armageddon remains vague, ranging from a catastrophic celestial collision between Earth and the mythical planet Nibiru, also known as Planet X, a disastrous crash with a comet, or the annihilation of civilisation by a giant solar storm.

Comments:
Since my world crashed on November 6, I have little to fear from the Mayan calendar.

Was that the Julian Mayan calendar or the Gregorian Mayan calendar?

They could not even predict the end of their own civilization. How could they predict the end of one yet to be created?
Its just like those people who sold everything they own and sat on top of that mountain in Israel on 31 Dec 99, waiting for Jesus. I bet they felt like Linus in the pumpkin patch at sunup on Nov 1st.

We don´t get excited about our calender which ends every year. It doesn´t necessarily represent an end to something rather than the birth of something else. But it´s interesting that CERN is doing a massive test that some believe could cause massive trauma. That test is being done on December 21st.

I am planning a nice, quiet, December 20 dinner party to celebrate the arriving apocalypse. Can anyone, please, provide me with some tasty Mayan recipes? Please note that recipes involving human sacrifice will not be accepted. It´s not that I´m absolutely opposed to such meal-making; it´s just that my cookware is not large enough.

This Mayan theory is getting a lot of attention because it FEELS like the end of the world. Since Obama came on the scene some people have been getting a sinking feeling in the pit of their stomach. They know that something is not right in the universe. The unease is palatable. Although I don´t believe in the Mayan prophecy, I do subscribe to the teachings of the Bible and it certainly appears that prophecy is being fulfilled.

Modern people seem to lack the ability to reason things out.

Teaching logic in school (starting in primary) could go a long way in producing responsible adults.

Instead we graduate the modern grown up child. Ruled by emotion and unable to think. In other words, sheep.

If you will forgive my getting a little theological here... There IS great evil running around in the world right now. Obama is not the cause of it, he is merely a symptom and a product of it. It is primarily causing heightened emotional responses to mundane situations. In weaker people it can lead to irrational behavior. It has been accelerating since around 1997 and (I´m guessing) should begin to recede late next year.
It is cyclic. It will pass. We just have to lash ourselves to the mast and ride it out as best we can.

I believe what the Mayans were really angling for was the Electoral College meeting date to ratify the horrid results of Nov. Don´t know what date that is, as was the case with the Mayans (since we hadn´t been created yet), but that´s Day One of countdown to our final destruction.

The US Navy uses about 100 Tomahawk cruise missiles per year to deal with global threats or to send a message. The Hellfire missile has become a mainstay of anti-terrorism operations since the CIA and military adapted the Predator drone aircraft to launch them. But under President Obama’s military budget, both programs will be eliminated over the next year or two. By 2018, the United States will have used all of its remaining stocks of Tomahawk missiles. And the military has no replacement for either weapon system ready to go yet. The Washington Free Beacon: President Barack Obama is seeking to abolish

As President Obama prepares to visit Saudi Arabia on Friday, many in the Middle East are wondering why he is making a trip with no discernible purpose. No one is quite sure what Obama is supposed to do while in Riyadh. According to the White House, in addition to a one-on-one talk with 90-year-old Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz, Obama hopes to attend a summit of the Gulf Cooperation Council. But there may be no summit — since the GCC is now badly split. The council’s members are Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Qatar. One bloc — the

Clinton nostalgists look back on the occasionally picayune controversies of that time — State of the Union endorsements of school uniforms — and conclude that such trivia were a sign of national health, of things being so good that we had nothing more important to debate. Subsequent events ranging from 9/11 to the mortgage meltdown suggest that there was rather more impressing business to be taken care of in the 1990s, but our political leaders were too short-sighted to appreciate it. Similarly, the fact that the Supreme Court is being asked to review the manner in which Hobby Lobby manages

The process does not engage on the level of argument, but simply involves the impugning of the victim’s motives or character. It routinely results in a kind of liberal fatwah being issued against the offending party, denouncing his or her deviation from conventional pieties. The offense in question involves statements Paul Ryan, the current House Budget

Rejecting the rigidly hierarchical and stratified societies of the ancient world, Jesus Christ taught the equal dignity of all persons, proclaimed that the meek shall inherit the earth, and declared that the last shall be first and the first shall be last. The Western world has been working out the logic of these subversive teachings ever since, with the institutional transformation of marriage being the latest, though surely not the last, example of its social, moral,
