Those of us who GET IT - we understand taxes are necessessary. We pay them. We get up early or stay up late to do our jobs. We work, play by the rules, buy the insurance, pay the fees, color inside the lines. We are responsible for our actions and deal with consequences when we screw up. Yes, we pay taxes, but are keen to keep them minimised. What we are fed up with is what our pols and leaders DO with those tax monies. They give our hard earned dollars away willy-nilly to layabouts and louts, the irresponsible and criminal, they ship our dollars off to other countries by the bound pallet loads, they squander our money on fleeting whims and fanciful pipe dreams. They try to curry favor of despots and easy votes, and out and out fraudulent schemes. No one pays a penalty but the taxpayer, and we pay it over and over until we are sick to death of it. They tell us our vote is our voice, but for those of us who carry the load, we are drown out by those who take without having to put in and the cheaters and those who never even bother to vote. I long for a movement that recognizes that it is our tax payments that speak much louder than words and votes, and if there be a way to withhold those payments, without fear of losing our homes and belongings, then yes, we should then be heard. Sadly, we mice are afraid to bell the cat, and so, we seethe.

Thanks #1 for articulating what many of us are feeling. I am also seething about the immoral expansion of the federal workforce, the explosion of government buildings in Washington, D.C., the knowledge that I am paying the salary of full time poop scoopers and film projectionists in the White House. It is past time to deal with this bloated self serving imperial federal government who spends our money like water to please themselves then turns around and calls us selfish. They are shameless and no one does anything to rein it in. Yes we all expressed disgust when we read about the conventions in Vegas, and I remember the tales of $200 hammers when I was a kid, so it´s nothing new. But if the federal government does not stop bleeding OUR dollars on useless and dangerous bureauracy we have no hope.

If the cliff raises taxes by 500 billion on EVERYONE and has across aboard spending cuts, then it is the lesser of two evils and over it we should go !!!

The real bottom line is that there is no budget, i.e. a fixed amount necessary to meet current obligations. With this government, and it doesn´t matter who is in charge sadly, there is NO UPPER LIMIT to how much it wants. However much the gov. takes in, it will always want and spend more, with no true accountability. The only solution is to keep the money from going to Washington in the first place. Like that will ever happen.

Boehner will cave, Obama will get his way (or I should say, the old fossil democrats will get their way. Obama knows very little of these details) and the ongoing recession will deepen further beginning in January. They have bitten off too much already to ever recover from.

But in the long term it will be good for the country when the real Americans claw their way out of the ashes and begin to take it back and rebuild.

Not only do we need a budget, we need it prioritized with congressional pay and benefits at the very bottom (Executive branch one line item up). Payouts are done in priority. No money left? Neither the President nor the Congress gets paid. Too bad.
Here is another thought, no budget. The tax receipts are the budget and all that gets voted on are the priorities and percentages.

ZOMGPONIES!!!!!! This one is even more better-er - Two year budgets (coinciding with elections) where the electorate get to provide a non-binding vote on how we want the money spent.

Wait until all the Useful Idiots who voted for The Won get a look at their AMT obligations under this "middle class" tax break.

Is Boehner doing as he did on the last negotiation with jugears, being that he a few decided what they were going to do and then go back to the House and tell them they had to vote for the plan. He´s no better than the democrats voting in obamacare. He apparently considers himself a little dictator just like jugears. Do as I say or I will take you off committees.
