Donald Trump v Alan Sugar:
popcorn time!

Telegraph [UK], by James Delingpole

Original Article

Posted By:Attercliffe, 12/8/2012 8:18:23 PM

For today´s Friday treat, I offer you a Twitter exchange yesterday between two Apprentice bosses – the original one Donald Trump and his UK spin-off version Lord Sugar (formerly S´r´Alan). (H/T @jeffw12345). It started with this – eminently sensible and true – tweet from @realDonaldTrump. How can George Osborne reduce UK debt while spending billions to subsidize Scotland’s garbage wind turbines that are destroying the country? Lord Sugar--as I suppose you´d expect from a Labour-supporting businessman who probably hasn´t the time to research these matters but just trusts what his Mirror-reading chums tell him--apparently disagreed with this assessment.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius told reporters on Monday that there is ´absolutely no evidence´ that the United States will lose jobs as a consequence of implementing the Affordable Care Act. But the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office declared on February 4 that the Obamacare law would suck the equivalent of 2.5 million full-time jobs out of the U.S. economy by 2024. ´There is absolutely no evidence, and every economist will tell you this, that there is any job loss related to the Affordable Care Act,´ Sebelius insisted Monday in Florida. ´Part-time positions are actually down since 2010, not up,´ she

Residents of Oklahoma were left feeling rattled over the weekend after a strong of some 20 earthquakes as powerful as 3.5 magnitude rocked the central part of the state on Saturday alone. Areas north of Oklahoma City felt the brunt of the temblors, which some say were accompanied by startling booms like the sound of an explosion. The mystery earthquake wave now has residents fearing for their personal safety and the security of their property. Meanwhile, scientists have been left scratching their heads over the quakes, which are becoming more frequent each day. ´Felt like bombs going off. It´s just a huge

In the epic 1982 swords-and-sorcery film Conan the Barbarian, when the massively muscled hero is asked what is best in life, he memorably decrees: “To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women.” Conan, like Game of Thrones (its modern progeny), is set in a fictional age, but the saga’s look and feel is a hundred per cent Dark Ages Europe. Dwayne Stovall wants Texans to know that U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell ´looks and fights like a turtle,´ and he hopes that image will bleed over to Republican Sen. The slight is related to what Stovall sees as a lack of action from Cornyn, the state´s senior senator and the Senate Minority Whip, to block elements of the Affordable Care Act. Fury erupted last night after it emerged the elderly could be denied vital drugs under new funding rules. Older patients would effectively be written off on the grounds that they no longer make a big enough financial contribution to society. The Department of Health is demanding the changes in an attempt to cut the crippling NHS medicines bill. But Katherine Murphy, chief executive of the Patients’ Association, called the plans “disturbing and discriminatory”, adding: “Human life cannot be assessed in terms of cost and benefit.” The Daily Express, which is crusading for Respect For The Elderly, revealed earlier this month

Winter weather alerts have been issued across a large chunk of the Midwest in advance of winter storm Rex - the 18th named storm of the 2013-14 season - which is expected to dump more than a half-foot of snow in some areas. The Chicago area is predicted to endure up to six inches of snow on Monday, while thunder

Historians, political scientists and other academics who rated first ladies for their integrity put Hillary Clinton in the bottom half of the rankings – in 21st place – despite her sixth-place overall ranking in the survey. That poor showing in the honesty-related category put her below nearly every first lady since the 1920s, including Pat Nixon. Nancy Reagan was the only modern first lady judged less trustworthy than Mrs. Clinton. ´Trustworthiness was never the Clintons´ long suit,´ University of Virginia Center for Politics Director Larry Sabato told MailOnline. The Siena Polling Institute has conducted the survey five times since 1982, with Clinton debuting

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on Sunday called climate change perhaps the world´s ´most fearsome´ destructive weapon and mocked those who deny its existence or question its causes, comparing them to people who insist the Earth is flat. In a speech to Indonesian students, civic leaders and government officials, Kerry tore into climate change skeptics. He accused them of using shoddy science and scientists to delay steps needed to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases at the risk of imperiling the planet. A day earlier, the U.S. and China announced an agreement to cooperate more closely on combating climate change.

America’s Founding Fathers fiercely held to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness—values which Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) claimed align seamlessly with Obamacare. Pelosi explained why the law is “very sound policy” during a press conference Friday: To go to back to our founders once again, they sacrificed it all for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This law, the affordable care act, is about a healthier life, the liberty to pursue your happiness. That is solid policy, and the mandate is central to that. This argument should be added to the montage of lies being promulgated by the Obama

There´s a debate going on about Hillary Clinton´s past. If she runs for president in 2016, should Republicans reach back to the scandals of her years as First Lady? Or should they focus on more recent times, especially her tenure as Secretary of State, to build a case against her? The GOP doesn´t have to choose. Of course Clinton´s recent experiences are relevant to a presidential run. But so are her actions in the 90s, the 80s and even the 70s. It´s not ancient history; it reveals something about who Clinton was and still is. And re-examining her past is entirely consistent with practices in recent campaigns. In the 2012 presidential race,

Who died and made John Kerry an Islamic scholar? U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry spent part of his Sunday in his stocking feet at an Indonesian mosque, at one point beating a huge drum used to call Muslims to prayer. Kerry’s visit to the modern Istiqlal Mosque in central Jakarta, said to be the largest mosque in Southeast Asia with a capacity of 130,000, was designed to demonstrate his respect for Islam as he visited the world’s largest Muslim-majority nation. — Having removed his shoes in keeping with Islamic custom, Kerry at one point was shown a gigantic, skin-covered drum which rests sideways

The weirdest thing about John Kerry´s weekend speech on climate-change—other than the fact that this is the same guy who in 1997 voted to forbid the U.S. from signing the Kyoto Protocol—is that it begins by quoting something Maurice Strong said at the U.N.´s 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro: "Every bit of evidence I´ve seen persuades me that we are on a course leading to tragedy." Maurice who? Mr. Strong, a former oil executive from Canada (he was Pierre Trudeau´s pick to run state-owned Petro-Canada in the mid-1970s), was for many years the U.N.´s ultimate mandarin.

Former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney on Sunday warned his party not to highlight the Monica Lewinsky scandal when attacking possible Democratic White House frontrunner Hillary Clinton, saying to keep attention instead on Clinton´s record. Washington - Mitt Romney told GOP pals Sunday to drop talk of ex-President Bill Clinton’s sexual shenanigans if wife Hillary makes her own White House bid. “I don’t think Bill Clinton is as relevant as Hillary Clinton if Hillary Clinton decides to run for President,” the 2012 Republican nominee said on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” citing the former First Lady’s own record, including stints as a U.S. senator from New York and as secretary of state. Romney also noted that the years of Bill Clinton’s presidency “were, by and large, positive economic times for the country.” The former Massachusetts governor added that Hillary Clinton
