| n the fiscal feud between President Obama and Republican lawmakers, economists agree that Washington could raise several hundred billion dollars by limiting tax deductions and closing loopholes for the wealthy, but charities likely would take a big hit in donations. At the center of the dispute between Mr. Obama and the GOP is whether they could raise enough revenue for a deal on deficit reduction without raising tax rates on families earning more than $250,000 per year.

The obvious compromise to me would be to draw the line at, say, income over $1 million. I have never understood why it´s at $250,000! That´s crippling the middle class, not the wealthy!

It has long been the goal of the Left to destroy all mediating institutions between the individual and the State. That means destruction of the family and the church. This would simply be another step in that process.

I used to donate a pretty big chunk to charity and never took it off my taxes. I don´t any more. So many of the people lining up for free stuff dont need it, they just expect it. I am tired of wasting my hard earned money enabling freeloaders and crooks.
I do feel bad for those truly in need through no fault of their own, but how many bamboozlers have to get paid for one truly needy person to get help? Too many.
Let ´em get it from Obama.

Kudos #8 hit is on the nose...and if you ever looked at the IRS tax filings of those that run for office you will find Republicans/conservatives give 50 to 75% more to charity, churches, good causes than democrats....

Last month, the Supreme Court decided to allow the importation and resale of foreign editions of American works, which are often cheaper than domestic editions. Cyprus postponed for yet another day an emergency parliamentary session to discuss a bailout plan that will see the country´s bank depositors share part of the burden, the house speaker said Monday. The Cypriot parliament is now scheduled to meet Tuesday at 1600 GMT, house speaker Yannakis Omirou told reporters. The parliament had been due to meet Monday at 1400 GMT as the government sought to push the levy through parliament before banks reopened Tuesday after a three-day bank holiday. The vote delay means that the bank holiday will likely be extended for at least another day.

In a stunning end to one of the most aggressively unsuccessful tenures in retail history, JCPenney (JCP) last night announced that CEO Ron Johnson would be leaving effective immediately. Myron Ullman, Johnson´s predecessor at JCPenney, takes office as CEO. When Johnson was initially wooed by JCPenney, it was to serve as CEO with Ullman as Chairman. In January 2012, Ullman was unceremoniously removed from the board. Gone with Ullman was any control the Board of Directors had over Ron Johnson and his control of JCPenney resources.

The state of California is reportedly considering legislation that would force group insurance policies to provide infertility treatment for gay and lesbian couples. Two men who have sex with each other for a year and do not produce a baby would be considered “infertile” under the proposed legislation. So would two women having sex. Since biology does not allow those without a uterus to conceive or those without a penis to impregnate, every year-long gay couple in California would potentially be covered by this new provision of California law.
