| Hurry up and wait. That’s what first responders were left to do after being deployed by FEMA to assist in the storm-ravaged areas in the initial days after superstorm Sandy, FoxNews.com has learned. A FEMA worker who spoke to FoxNews.com described a chaotic scene at New Jersey´s Fort Dix, where emergency workers arrived as the storm bore down on the Atlantic Coast. The worker said officials at the staging area were unprepared and told the incoming responders there was nothing for them to do for nearly four days. “They told us to hurry, hurry, hurry," the worker,

“I worked in Katrina and Katrina was run better than Sandy.”
Sandy had a better propaganda campaign.

FEMA is not very well run; but when Bush was president when Katrina hit, the press blamed it all on Bush. 0bama gets a pass, and FEMA is worse now than when Bush was in. 0bama takes credit for any little thing (i.e. Osama bin Laden, and 0bama took the Seals´ credit), but the press always gives this man a pass.

Gee, no wonder Barry gave FEMA accolades. It fit right in with his wasting taxpayer money on a useless organization that does nothing but suck taxpayers dry.

North Las Vegas, NV -With a satisfied grin, farmer Bob Combs watches the big truck slowly dump its greasy load, a Niagara Falls of yesterday´s kitchen leftovers that sends off a sickening spray as it splashes into a metal bin. The greenish-brown concoction — with hot dogs, corn, bright-orange carrots and bits of lobster bubbling to its surface — is ready to start a new culinary chapter. Just 24 hours earlier, these food scraps, albeit in decidedly more appetizing form, were served up to customers at lavish all-you-can-eat buffets on and off the Strip.

On "Hannity" Wednesday night, Steve Emerson broke the shocking news that a Saudi national, Abdul al-Harbi, who was first questioned in the Boston bombing, is going to be deported on “national security grounds.” A devout Muslim from Medina, anti-Jihad activist and blogger Walid Shoebat reports that he is a scion of a very powerful Saudi family with terrorist ties. When al-Harbi was first questioned over his possible involvement in the Boston Marathon bombings, it raised the possibility of jihad in Boston. But then, law enforcement started a succession of extraordinary and inexplicable actions.

The lyrics have nothing to do with Boston ... or do they? Charles Steinberg, a senior Boston Red Sox official, helps to solve the mystery. When the New York Yankees set aside their historic rivalry with the Boston Red Sox and honored Boston Tuesday night with Sox anthem "Sweet Caroline," the gesture didn´t go unappreciated. Neil Diamond, who wrote and performed the song for the first time in 1969, tweeted his thanks, saying: "Thank you NY Yankees for playing ´Sweet Caroline´ for the people of Boston. You scored a home run in my heart. With respect, Neil."

BOSTON- Memorabilia from the Boston Marathon has been listed for sale on eBay in the wake of the bombings during the race, officials said. Items listed for sale have included marathon participant jackets and shirts, volunteer jackets, and Boston Marathon finishers medals, ABC News reported. One eBay user selling his medal, which had a high bid of $266 as of Thursday morning, said he sells his medal every year. "I hold the memories, but I´m not a momento/souvenier [sic] type person. If I keep it, it ends up in a shoebox so I hope someone will buy it that will

As well as paintings of royal residences including Balmoral and Highgrove, there are dozens of landscapes painted in Scotland, the Middle East, Africa and Klosters, his favourite Swiss ski resort. The Prince has been a keen amateur artist for most of his life, and the paintings, which date back over several decades, show how his style has developed and his technique improved with time. Although his subjects are as far afield as Tanzania, Greece and Turkey, it is Scotland which most often inspires him, with Lochnagar, about which he wrote a children´s book, taking up two sections

ABC on Wednesday and Thursday parroted Barack Obama´s anger over the failure of his gun control bill, touting the President´s rage over this "shameful day." On World News and Good Morning America, reporter Jon Karl featured no pro-Second Amendment voices. Diane Sawyer trumpeted, "Tonight, outrage from the families of the victims of gun violence." On Thursday, Good Morning America´s Amy Robach reminded, "[Obama] called it a shameful day in Washington and vowed to keep fighting." Karl even misrepresented the legislation: "It would have expand background checks to all purchases at gun shows and online. They´re now only

WASHINGTON — Attorney General Eric Holder is telling Congress that he is angered and frustrated over the Senate votes that scuttled gun control legislation. In a hearing before a House appropriations subcommittee, the attorney general says that he and the rest of the Obama administration remain committed to standing with the families of victims in the shootings in Newtown, Conn., and countless others who have lost their lives in senseless acts of gun violence. Senate Republicans, backed by a small band of rural-state Democrats, rejected tighter background checks for buyers and a ban on assault weapons

House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) is pushing ahead with his investigation of last year’s fatal attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, by preparing federal agencies to allow employees to lawyer up. In separate letters to the legal offices of the CIA, State Department and Defense Department, Issa said some witnesses on the issue might need lawyers, if their agencies decide to retaliate against them for their testimony. “During the course of the investigation, numerous individuals have approached the committee with information related to the attack,” wrote Issa

Speaking at the funeral of a loved one can feel like an impossibly daunting task. To do it aged only 19, with millions watching around the world, is even more remarkable. Margaret Thatcher’s granddaughter displayed a steely composure worthy of the Iron Lady herself as she addressed St Paul’s Cathedral yesterday – and then told a politician who complimented her performance that it was ‘in the blood’. Scroll down for video -In a pronounced Texan accent, Amanda Thatcher delivered an extraordinarily self-assured reading at the funeral of her grandmother.

Senate Democrats discussed a proposal to use a new formula to calculate Social Security benefits at a two-hour dinner with President Obama at the Jefferson Hotel Wednesday evening.“We talked for two hours on a wide range of topics and the president was in terrific form,” said a Democratic senator who broke bread with the president. “We discussed the topics you’d expect as well as some you might not expect.” A White House pool report, quoting an administration official, said topics included the terrorist attack in Boston, immigration reform, the economy and gun control.

Yesterday, the most modest of gun control proposals died in the Senate. It would have expanded background checks to people purchasing weapons at gun shows and online sales, enjoyed 90 per cent support among the public and came on the back of the tragedy at Newtown. Yet, despite all that it had going for it, the Toomey-Manchin bill raised just 54 votes--six short of the number necessary for passage. “This is a pretty shameful day for Washington,” said Obama afterwards. It wasn’t exactly a red letter day for him, either. Why did the no-brainer bill fail? Four reasons:

President Obama angrily blamed the defeat Wednesday of his centerpiece gun-control proposal on lies spread by the National Rifle Association, calling it “a pretty shameful day for Washington.” “The gun lobby and its allies willfully lied about the bill,” Mr. Obama said in the White House rose garden about 90 minutes after the vote. “It came down to politics.” As he spoke, Mr. Obama was surrounded by family members of victims of the Newtown, Conn., school shooting. Also with him was former Rep. Gabby Giffords of Arizona, wounded in an assassination attempt.

Authorities on Tuesday revealed little new information about the terrorist attack at the Boston Marathon, the most high-profile bombing on U.S. soil in more than a decade and a tragedy that presents a new test for President Obama. Obama, like all Americans, is standing by, waiting for answers as to who planted two bombs improvised from pressure cookers at the finish line of the storied race, and why. Three Americans were killed in Monday´s attack and more than 170 others were injured. "Anytime bombs are used to target innocent civilians, it is an act of terror," Obama said,

The Senate delivered a devastating blow to President Obama’s agenda to regulate guns Wednesday by defeating a bipartisan proposal to expand background checks. It failed by a vote of 54 to 46, with 5 Democrats voting against it. Only 4 Republicans supported it. Democratic Sens. Mark Pryor (Ark.), Max Baucus (Mont.), Heidi Heitkamp (N.D.), Mark Begich (Alaska) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (Nev.) voted against it. Reid supported the measure but voted against it to preserve his ability to bring the measure up again. GOP Sens. John McCain (Ariz.), Susan Collins (Maine), Pat Toomey (Pa.) and Mark Kirk

While the media are bearing the brunt of public skepticism over the handling of the Boston bombing, the behavior of government is also eroding public trust. Yesterday´s promised but cancelled news briefing is just one symptom. Andrew McCarthy of PJM notes that "Misinformation rather than enlightenment has been the order of the day in the investigation of Monday´s terrorist bombing of the Boston Marathon," and that part of it is the natural outgrowth of the desire of investigators to keep the details of their investigations secret, so as not to alert suspects.

Mark Kelly, the astronaut husband of former congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, on Thursday upbraided senators who voted against gun legislation by saying they voted “out of fear.” ”If that vote had been a secret ballot, I bet you it would have passed with 80 votes,” Kelly told reporters. He was referencing the compromise authored by Sens. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) to expand background checks for gun buyers. It failed to advance in the Senate, with a vote Wednesday afternoon of 54 to 46.

After all the controversy – it was too much, and too expensive; it would be marred by protests – this morning’s funeral for Lady Thatcher in London was a splendid and memorable affair, which did her memory, and her country, proud. It was a moving, dignified and pitch-perfect occasion: unmistakably British, and a fitting send-off for the country’s greatest post-war prime minister. Big Ben fell silent – for the first time since the funeral of wartime leader Winston Churchill – and tens of thousands of admirers lined the streets to applaud Lady Thatcher’s coffin

As we now move into the official Political Aftermath period of the Boston bombing — the period that will determine the long-term legislative fallout of the atrocity — the dynamics of privilege will undoubtedly influence the nation’s collective reaction to the attacks. That’s because privilege tends to determine: 1) which groups are — and are not — collectively denigrated or targeted for the unlawful actions of individuals; and 2) how big and politically game-changing the overall reaction ends up being.

Washington — President Barack Obama says the Senate’s opposition to a bill that would have expanded background checks for gun buyers marks a “shameful day” in Washington. He says a minority of senators decided “it wasn’t worth it” to protect the nation’s children. Obama spoke in the Rose Garden shortly after the Senate vote rejecting a bipartisan effort to expand federal background checks to more firearms buyers. (Snip) The president pinned the blame for the measures failure, though five Democrats also opposed the plan. He also said the gun lobby and its allies “willfully lied” about background check bill.

Misinformation rather than enlightenment has been the order of the day in the investigation of Monday’s terrorist bombing of the Boston Marathon. The anxiety stemming from the attack and the stream of inaccurate news about it is further freighted, moreover, by the FBI’s confirmation that two letters addressed to top political officials — President Obama and Senator Richard Wicker (R., MS) — tested positive for ricin, a deadly poison. As noted below, a man identified as Kenneth Curtis of Tupelo, Mississippi, has reportedly been arrested in connection with the mailings. Early this afternoon, massive confusion
