| Gov. Lincoln Chafee (I-R.I.) told CNSNews.com on Wednesday that his administration calls the decorated evergreen tree erected in the Rhode Island State House in December a “holiday tree”--rather than a "Christmas tree"--because that is what the tree is traditionally called. CNSNews.com spoke with Chafee following his remarks at the National Governors Association national summit in Arlington, Va. "You have taken some recent criticism about changing the name of the State House tree to a holiday tree," asked CNSNews.com. "Would you say that you believe in Christmas?"

On Jan. 10, 1963, Congressman Albert S. Herlong Jr. of Florida read a list of 45 Communist goals into the Congressional Record. ... 27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity, which does not need a "religious crutch." 28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the grounds that it violates the principle of "separation of church and state" Replacing belief in the creator with belief in the earthly man-controlled State. 29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis. And replace our nation of "laws, not men" with royal decree emanating from appointed judges and executive orders. Replace elected officials with bureaucrats. ... 32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture – education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc. ...

Chafee is an absolute dunce, dumber than dirt, who was elected only because of his name, his father being not quite as dumb.
In pennsylvania, we suffer with the baby killing catholic, bobby casey jr, who pretended to be his father, and has been reelected to the U.S. senate.
Shame on both of them.

Actually, yes it is a tradition you blithering moron! It was introduced in the United States about 110 years ago. The Constitution guarantees "Freedom of Religion", not "Freedom From Religion". If people want to have a Christmas Tree, let them. If Jews want to have a Menorah, let them. Out country is founded on Judeo-Christian ethics and traditions. If you want to have a "Holiday Tree", call it what ever you want, although exactly what holiday you are celebrating is questionable.

We need a constitutional amendment to redefine freedom of religion, pointing out the fallacy of a notion of separation of church and state. And specifically allowing Christian religious prayer in public schools again.

It´s not a Chanukah bush, a maypole, the Muzlim aren´t singing carols, and no one is hugging the tree.
Matter of a fact, Christmas is so commercialized, there isn´t much religious connatation since the angel has been replaced by bows and glitz.
After Christmas, recycle that evergreen where the sun won´t materialize any time soon.

On Saturday, President Obama handed over the camera and teleprompter to the mother of a victim of Sandy Hook Elementary shooter Adam Lanza. Explaining his exploitative choice via email to his entire WhiteHouse.gov email list, Obama explained: Each week, like many presidents before me, I sit down to record a short address to the nation. It´s something I take very seriously because it offers a chance to bring focus to an issue that needs to be part of the national dialogue. But today, I´ve asked someone to take my place.

"Comprehensive immigration reform" is shaping up to be the next Obamacare. By negotiating in secret, by drafting an enormously complicated bill, and by rushing passage with almost no time for public debate, the Senators who are pushing immigration reform are following the same path that divided the nation in 2009-10 and led to one of the worst expansions of federal regulation, spending and power in American history. Though they may have the best of intentions as regards the underlying result, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and his colleagues in the

Cain and Carson have several things in common: both have been encouraged to run for president after wowing conservative crowds excited about the prospect of a black conservative in the White House. Neither have ever served in public office. Cain — the former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza — ran for president as a Republican in 2012. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said her department has its “hands full” with the implementation of the healthcare law and cannot prepare for any immigration reform bill’s impact on health insurance costs. During a House Ways and Means Committee hearing on Friday, Texas Republican Rep. It’s for your own good, don’t you know? Launching his April 8 piece, “Why Paternalism Is Your Friend,” Sunstein evokes New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s (mostly failed, not that Sunstein says so) nanny state efforts to take away his constituents’ freedom on such things as trans fats, sodas, and guns. Sunstein points out that to his mind, all

Don’t expect First Lady Michelle Obama to continue a high-profile role in the gun control debate. Administration officials with knowledge of the White House strategy tell The Hill the first lady will not be an active part of the debate going forward, at least in terms of gun policy. Obama will instead be focused mostly on youth empowerment, as she has in recent years, continuing her mentoring programs and “Let’s Move!” her childhood obesity initiative. In a rare move, the first lady entered the national discussion on gun control earlier this week when she delivered

I’m not sure how widely it was known that Jonathan Winters, whom Robin Williams thought the best comic of his generation, was a conservative. In any case, I sometimes used to show students in my classes on the American Founding the early scene from “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad World” where the whole gang tries to deliberate about how to divide the loot fairly when they finally got to the site where the loot was hidden, and how it could illustrate . . . the “great compromise” of the constitutional convention of 1787 in Philadelphia.

Pro golfers, golf writers, and TV commentators are up in arms that Tiger Woods was only given a 2-stroke penalty for his illegal drop on the 15th hole yesterday. Tiger said last night that he dropped his ball two yards behind his previous spot, clearly violating the rule that you must drop "as nearly as possible" to your original spot. Golf people are not happy about it. They say that the new rule is B.S. (or it´s at least being misinterpreted), and Tiger should DQ himself to save the integrity of the game.

Few Americans can not answer this question: who is the worst domestic mass murderer in United States’ history? Due to the United States media, most are aware that Timothy McVeigh slaughtered 168 people with a bomb in 1995. Most Americans also know the names of our three most monstrous serial killers: “The Green River Killer” Gary Ridgeway, Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy. The U.S. media is again responsible for the general awareness of these men; these stories deserved — and received — national attention due to our common interest in personal safety, the rule of law

In Philadelphia, at a human abattoir on Lancaster Avenue, is where it ends, not where it starts. It starts with the perversion of language. It starts when the icons of a dissipated culture reduce a baby to a “fetus.” From there, Yeats’s blood-dimmed tide rolls rapidly in. Before long, a baby is not a person but a punishment, as President Barack Obama framed the matter in his familiar off-the-cuff iciness. Of course, to describe newborn children in their boundless possibilities and wonder would be to acknowledge, foremost, their humanity. That is why, instead, abortion enthusiasts must grope for words

Here is something I don’t understand: liberals are often revealed as vile, vulgar hatemongers–not all of them, of course, but far too many–yet they never seem to pay a penalty at the polls. Why is that? Margaret Thatcher’s death has been the latest occasion for the Left to show its true stripes. All across the U.K., there have been demonstrations–vulgar at best, and violent at worst. In Bristol, lefties celebrating a Thatcher “death street party” started fires, destroyed property and battled police: This evening in Trafalgar Square, liberals have turned out for a long-planned celebration of Thatcher’s death:

With President Obama, there’s always a catch. In the 2014 budget he announced last week, Obama proposed a more accurate way of calculating the inflation rate for annual cost-of-living increases in Social Security. It’s a technical change in pursuit of honesty and good government. And if adopted, it would cause benefits to grow more slowly, though almost imperceptibly so. Republican leaders in Congress ought to be delighted since they had “championed”—Obama’s word—the idea in the first place. Then came the catch. The president’s price for adopting this gentle reform was hundreds of billions in new tax increases.

TALLAHASSEE - Picture this: You´re in the left lane of the interstate, driving a little below the speed limit, when some guy zips up behind you and swerves past you on the right. Then you notice the blue lights flashing. You´re savoring the satisfaction of seeing a trooper actually nab an aggressive driver — until you realize it´s you he´s pulling over. The impending introduction of legislation to overhaul the country’s badly strained immigration system received an extraordinary endorsement on Sunday from Senator Marco Rubio, Republican of Florida, who, after holding back for weeks, appeared on no fewer than seven television talk shows to explain and defend a plan that he said would be “a net positive for the country, now and in the future.” It was a striking show of confidence from Mr. Rubio, one of eight members of a bipartisan Senate group that has been crafting a plan to provide a path to legal status for undocumented immigrants;
