Citigroup to Cut 11,000 Jobs
and Take $1 Billion Charge

New York Times, by Jessica Silver-Greenberg

Original Article

Citigroup’s announcement that it will slash 11,000 jobs worldwide underscores its major contraction since nearly collapsing during the financial crisis and its continuing battle against high operating costs and persistently sluggish markets. The cost-cutting fervor, including tens of thousands of Wall Street jobs slashed in recent years, is expected to continue at Citigroup and other banks as they combat sagging stock prices, lackluster revenue and new regulations that damp profits. The cuts at Citigroup, many coming from its global consumer banking business, reflect a new emphasis on aiming at commercial

You nailed it #2. Obama is makingi t impossible for banks to remain solvent. They´re still being forced to make bad home loans under the threats of huge class action lawsuits. they´re being forced to make low interest loans to keep borderline homeowners in their houses. I said a long time ago,3.5-4.5% interest rates on home loans will kill banks long term solvency.

The left created a "right´ to a home out of thin air and it´s cost 100´s of billions,if not a trillion in the past 10 years to cover up their social justice schemes. To this day,Bush gets blamed for the housing crash and debacle when it really began in earnest in the late 90´s under Clinton.Andrew Cuomo and sen. Gillebrand are who invented the sub prime instrument to shoehorn people into houses. The idiots who fell for these adjustable rate mortgages then turned around and sued over predatory loans and the banks were the villains, not left wing housing schemes.

There´s already been tons of banks taken over by the FDIC,sometimes on flimsy reasons. So the government is already running these banks, making them even worse.

If Obama winds up controlling the banks,he then has virtual control over everybody´s life in this country.

Frank/Dodd regulators are stopping banks from making good loans because the recipients of the loans aren´t dem base members.

#3, it goes further back than Klanton........Jimmuh Carter gave us the CRA to mitigage the impact of ´red-lining´ that was identified by an earlier Boston Fed report. Of course, when you removed race and only factored in credit scores, there was NO DIFFERENCE in lending.
The democrats have been planning on killing America since Woodrow Wilson.

“The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg said that the show likely brought on conservative women as guests this week to bolster ratings — an indirect admission she made while decrying the move. First up was Glenn Beck’s cable network producer Dana Loesch, who appeared on the ABC morning show on Monday. On Tuesday, it was Mary Katharine Ham, from HotAir, Breitbart reported. After actress Elizabeth Perkins expressed her dismay on Twitter by Miss Loesch’s appearance, Miss Goldberg agreed and pointed to ratings. Miss Perkins tweeted, “I’m very surprised by The View booking Dana Loesch.

This week, a number of commentators have published articles containing incorrect and irresponsible claims regarding the allegation of Woody Allen’s having sexually abused his adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow. As the author of two lengthy, heavily researched and thoroughly fact-checked articles that deal with that allegation—the first published in 1992, when Dylan was seven, and the second last fall, when she was 28—I feel obliged to set the record straight. As such, I have compiled the following list of undeniable facts: 1. Mia never went to the police about the allegation of sexual abuse. Her lawyer told her on August 5,

New York - AOL became the latest company to blame Obamacare for cutting back on employee benefits. The tech firm will now pay its 401(k) company match only to employees who are active on Dec. 31 of that year, as opposed to in their paychecks throughout the year. So those who leave the company before the end of the year will forfeit the match. AOL CEO Tim Armstrong blamed $7.1 million in additional Obamacare costs the company is facing this year. Had the company not made the change in its 401(k) payments, employees would have seen their health insurance costs increase, he told CNN Thursday.

A warning this election season: If you are searching the Web for information on Democratic congressional candidates, read the fine print. At least 15 websites that appear to be official campaign sites for Democratic candidates, are actually the handiwork of the National Republican Congressional Committee. Washington - The Obama administration is temporarily waiving sanctions on Iran´s state broadcaster, a senior Obama administration official said late Thursday. (Snip) The official said the move comes after the U.S. determined that "harmful satellite interference" was not currently emanating from Iran. The U.S. levied sanctions on Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting last year, charging that the state-run broadcaster was blocking foreign channels that the government found objectionable and citing human rights groups who say the broadcaster distorted and falsified reports. National intelligence chief James R. The new restrictions were among reforms promised last month by President Barack Obama to the controversial anti-terror surveillance program of the National Security Agency. Under the first change, Clapper said, the massive caches of phone records can be searched only after a court finds that there is "a reasonable, articulable suspicion that the selection term is associated with an approved international

AUSTIN, Texas — The Wild West tradition of openly carrying your six-shooter on the street has long been banned in Texas under state law. But the next governor could change that. Rising Democratic star and gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis has joined her top Republican rival in supporting a proposed "open carry" law. It would allow people with concealed handgun licenses to wear a pistol on their hip, in full view, while in public. Davis has said she supports expanding gun rights in Texas. The White House and congressional Democrats tried to limit the fallout Wednesday from the politically damaging conclusion in a Congressional Budget Office report that the Obamacare entitlement creates a major incentive for some people not to work. While some critics focused on a finding by the CBO that Obamacare will result in 2.5 million fewer workers over a decade, conservatives said the bigger fundamental issue highlighted in the report is one familiar to the welfare state — that taxpayer-funded government subsidies provide disincentives for full-time work. “People used to be stuck in jobs because they needed the health insurance,” said

But I guess I´m kind of curious: Is there much of a case to be made for anyone other than Paul Ryan? On the substantive side, Ryan sure seems like he´s setting himself up for a run. There´s his steady series of "unheralded" anti-poverty outreach trips that always manage to be just heralded enough to get sympathetic press coverage. This is either a glaring admission of defeat from the White House or… no, that’s really all it could be. After weeks of defending the cancellation of health plans insurers discontinued in 2013 in order to comply with the Affordable Care Act’s coverage mandates, the White House announced in November of last year that it was urging insurers to reinstate those plans. The catch was, of course, that most insurers would be unable to turn on a dime and reinstate those plans. Furthermore, the administration allowed individual states leeway to determine whether or not they would even allow insurers to reinstate
