DETROIT -- The city of Detroit faces a major financial crisis and one member of city council thinks President Barack Obama should step in and help. City Council member JoAnn Watson said Tuesday he citizens support of Obama in last month´s election was enough reason for the president to bailout the struggling the city. (Click the video player to listen) "Our people in an overwhelming way supported the re-election of this president and there ought to be a quid pro quo and you ought to exercise leadership on that," said Watson. "Of course, not just that, but why not?"
Comments: She perfectly exemplifies why we are now in the disastrous economic condition we are in. This was going on long before 0bama was elected but now it is ramped up to the max because they all see him as their savior. They expect the taxpayers to bail them out when their wreckless, irresponsible behavior is the cause of their problems.
She obviously does not understand how this works. You voted for him, that was your duty to him. His duty to you is to be himself. If that includes bailing you out, then you owe him an additional debt of gratitude (and possibly support for some other agenda item you might otherwise oppose).
Also, #5, Obama will bail out blue States and union-intensive States. The rest can go scratch.
Remember his words, "We will punish our enemies and reward our friends"? He´ll bail out ANY city or district with a hand out and a majority Democrat voter registration.
But we´re toast anyway unless we rely on divine intervention. God is plenty cheesed off at America for tossing Him out of our lives and out of our public square. If He does decide to send us a rescuer or if He does decide to show us how to get out of Mordor, we are doomed, Gollums all.

Very typical Dem pol. So entrenched in the democrat political machine she doesn´t even know that her "qui pro quo" request is a violation of federal election law. This is how the idiot left thinks. Elections are not for public servants, they are for Santa Clause. The corolary to this is that those who voted against the winning (leftist) candidate should be punished for their vote. Also a violation of federal election law.
This disgusting belief system is why Wildfires in LA and Boulder recieve instantaneous disaster aid and equally horrendous wildfires in Texas recieve nothing.

This sounds reasonable to me. I´m perfectly willing to have my hard-earned money confiscated by the government in order to bail out a failed welfare state.
Poster #3 you got that right and the Blue States know it. As an example that is why Californian keeps spending and chalking up debt. They are going to get to the verge of economic collapse then blackmail the rest of the country like Greece did to the EU. They will remind us that they are the worlds 5th largest economy and if they go under so will the rest of the nation.
Every elected state office in Michigan is a Republican, the state Supreme Court is a four three conservative ratio, and both the Semite and House are controlled by Republicans. The reason for this is the blacks in Detroit are either to stupid or lazy or both to vote in off year elections.
Michigan is now going to attempt to become a right to work state….
Stinking parasites! That is what they are in spades. Please do not read anything racial into the word spades. It is a figure of speech. I do not want to appear condescending at all. That means talking down to people, of course.
In May of 2010 while operating in southern Helmand Province, Afghanistan, as an infantryman, I was attached to a unit that was employing a female engagement team to supplement their already robust outreach campaign to the local villagers of Marjah. While the Marines—or “lioness” team—did an admirable job, it was clear that their presence in the midst of an all-male infantry company currently involved in combat operations clearly restructured the dynamic on the ground. Lieutenant Colonel Robert Macginnis in his book Deadly Consequences: How Cowards are Pushing Women into Combat proposes that
Texas Democratic Congressmen Rubén Hinojosa and Beto O’Rourke are pushing back against efforts to further secure the U.S.-Mexico border, arguing that more migrants would die while illegally crossing the border into America. “They come here to work hard and they come here to be reunited with their families. The sad truth is that many do not make it to accomplish any of those joyful things that I just described. Many of them lose their lives in the dry cactus and mesquite-filled lands of south Texas where I come from, the area that I represent,”
Glenn Greenwald, the Guardian journalist largely responsible for the big reports on secret government surveillance in the last two months, will be testifying before Congress on these programs. There have been plenty of hearings already in which high-ranking intelligence officials have , backed by the same left-right coalition that nearly passed an amendment that would have reigned in the NSA’s surveillance scope on Wednesday. The Guardian reports the hearing was organized by Democrat Alan Grayson, and is backed by Republican Justin Amash, who introduced the aforementioned bill on the House floor. Grayson briefly explained
Anthony Weiner, Eliot Spitzer and Bob Filner may have done horrible things to the women in their lives. But they do not represent a Democratic “war on women.” That charge has been leveled by conservative groups this after new revelations emerged about New York mayoral candidate Weiner’s “sexting” activity and San Diego mayor Filner’s sexual harassment charges. ShePAC sent an email to supporters claiming “Liberal men are leading a violent war on women” and “the real war on women is coming from the left.” And the National Republican Senatorial Committee wrote in a press release, “Democrats invoke the
On Thursday, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) blistered the mainstream media for favoring Republicans who are docile and trained to parrot policy positions Democrats prefer. “There are a lot of Democrats and folks in the media who like their Republicans timid and house-trained to just sit quietly in the corner, to accept losing, and to stand for nothing," Cruz said on Sean Hannity´s radio show. Cruz said Americans are fed up with such Republicans who are no different from Democrats and offer no alternative. Hannity said Cruz was not one of those "house-trained" Republicans,
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. Meghan McCain is getting her own show on a new TV network targeting the generation of Americans known as millennials. "Raising McCain" will debut on Pivot, a general entertainment network that launches Aug. 1. It´s described as a documentary-talk series for viewers ages 15 to 34. McCain will star and serve as executive producer. The 28-year-old author and blogger told the Television Critics Association on Friday that the show lets her "be crazy, be myself and talk about issues." "I came to Pivot because I think there has to be some sort of middle
Comedian Jim Carrey angered many on the right with his venomous tweets against the Second Amendment as well as those who embrace it. He (much) later apologized, but hard feelings likely remain. The Ace Ventura star´s latest political tweet won´t win him any conservative fans back. Carrey commented on vandals splashing green paint on the Lincoln Memorial with a predictably left of center viewpoint: Green paint on Lincoln memorial. Republicans have been bracing for a storm ever since President Obama tapped Thomas Perez, the liberal activist head of the Justice Department´s civil rights division, to replace Hilda Solis as Labor secretary. Labeling Perez a radical, polarizing figure, Republicans held up his nomination for four months, allowing it to move forward only on July 18 as part of a deal to prevent Senate Democrats from going nuclear and changing the chamber´s voting rules. Now employers and their GOP allies in Congress worry it´s payback time. During Solis´ tenure at Labor, the department focused most of its energy on writing
Union leaders are calling on Congress and President Obama to provide a federal bailout to the city of Detroit. The executive council of the AFL-CIO, the nation’s largest labor federation, called for an “immediate infusion of federal assistance for Detroit” to be matched by Michigan, which they say has not done enough to keep the city from going through bankruptcy. “Bankruptcy must not be used as a tool to impoverish city of Detroit workers or retirees. City workers have already made severe concessions to keep the city afloat,” the executive council said in a statement.
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton did not know that her longtime aide Huma Abedin planned to speak publicly in support of her husband, New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner, CNN reported Thursday. Abedin appeared alongside Weiner at a hastily arranged press conference earlier this week, after it was revealed her husband had continued to send sexually explicit pictures and texts to other women, even after resigning from Congress over similar indiscretions. But according to CNN, Abedin did not consult with Clinton — who herself has
Entertainer and civil rights activist Harry Belafonte blamed the Tea Party for increasing "racial animus" in the United States in an appearance with the Dream Defenders at the Florida State Capitol. In a response to a question from Breitbart News about the dramatic difference between black and white opinion on the George Zimmerman acquittal, Belafonte said that black Americans believed that white Americans don´t pay attentions to black issues unless they create a disturbance. Belafonte added that during the civil rights era, they fought and achieved their objectives but that he felt that progress had been rolling back.
The next time you turn on a light, ride an elevator or charge up your cell phone, you might want to thank John Toth or 86,000 others like him still working today to dig the coal that fuels 40 percent of the electricity in the most productive nation ever. Toth, a heavy-set West Virginian, toiled for over 25 years as a miner and a worker in other coal related industries. He bears the scars - short of breath and hard of hearing from loud machinery - but laments the demise of America´s most abundant source of energy.
There have been days since her son Ezekiel was born 11 months ago that Los Angeles mom Beth Capper has gone without food to keep up her supply. One friend was arrested for stealing some. It´s not drugs or alcohol or even baby formula that has put her in such a bind. It´s diapers. "There´s no way around buying them," said Capper, a 41-year-old single mother who doesn´t work because of a disability. Across the country, mothers like Capper are facing the same predicament. According to a report published Monday in the
Conservative bloggers went wild Monday when they got wind of the Congressional Black Caucus’ suggestion that President Obama pick Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee of Houston for the post of Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. Rich Cooper, avid blogger for Security Debrief, responded to the news of the Jackson Lee recommendation in a post by saying, “Apparently, it is not a joke. For reasons that baffle any sense of reality, it is a serious gesture on the part of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) to encourage President Obama to nominate Rep. Jackson Lee

But within a decade, it is expected that the ocean which the village of Kivalina has so relied on will completely destroy it--creating America´s first climate change refugees. A year after resigning from congress over his first sexting scandal, Anthony Weiner claimed that he was a mellowed out new father working every day to be a better husband by doing chores around the house. "Every day since this has happened, I´ve tried to become a better person, a husband that Huma deserves and as good a father as I can be," Weiner told People Magazine in outtakes released Sunday from his now infamous July 18, 2012 interview. "I´ve explored every way to try to do those things and I´m committed to continuing on that path."
Anthony Weiner may have violated federal law when he failed to disclose his lavish six-figure wedding in his financial disclosure forms, says a government accountability group. Ethics watchdog group National Legal and Policy Center examined the federal Financial Disclosure Reports for both Weiner and long-suffering wife Huma Abedin for 2010, the year of their wedding. The cost for the ceremony was at least $100,000 but probably ran closer to $250,000 including all
America is in great shape energy-wise. We have more gas and oil reserves than ever before. Indeed, the United States could shortly become the world’s largest exporter of coal. Our cheaper power rates may bring energy-intensive industry back from Europe and Asia. If America’s small colleges are nearly broke and our public schools failing, nonetheless our blue-chip universities’ math, science, and engineering departments, and professional schools, remain the best in the world. Many low-income families receive government assistance to help them purchase food and housing. Diapers are another story, a new study suggests. In what they are calling the first peer-reviewed study to quantify diaper need, Yale University researchers have found nearly a third of mothers cannot afford to purchase their infants diapers, raising health risks for not only babies but for moms who become stressed over the finances. "Notably absent from the antipoverty efforts targeting families is an essential staple for the health of children, diapers," wrote the researchers, led by Dr. Megan Smith,
In an interview on National Public Radio (NPR), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said her new agenda for women will give mothers access to day care so they can “earn without carrying the burden of child care.” During the interview, aired on Weekend Edition Sunday, Pelosi spoke about her newly announced agenda, which is on her website, and is titled, “When Women Succeed, America Succeeds: An Economic Agenda for Women and Families,” a plan that includes universal pre-school and access to day care for working women, and an increase in the minimum wage.
Mideast: The sequester has "cost jobs," says President Obama, and "gutted investments in education and science and medical research." But somehow he´s earmarked $500 million for Hamas terrorists. Circumventing Congress and with no fanfare, President Obama last week issued an executive order enabling him to send an additional $500 million directly to the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank — much of which you can bet will wind up going to the Iranian-backed Hamas terrorist organization. According to Obama, "it is important to the national security interests of the United States to waive the provisions of" Congress´ legislative restrictions "in
The mother of Trayvon Martin said Monday that she believed Florida’s Stand Your Ground law played a role in her son’s shooting death, but she wasn’t ready to support a boycott of the state for not changing the self-defense law. “The thing about this law is I just think it assisted the person who killed my son to get away with murder,” Sybrina Fulton, the mother of the 17-year-old from Miami Gardens, said at a National Bar Association event in Miami Beach. “I think we have to change these laws so people don’t get
A group of experts advising the nation’s premier cancer research institution has recommended sweeping changes in the approach to cancer detection and treatment, including changes in the very definition of cancer and eliminating the word entirely from some common diagnoses. (Snip) The group, which includes some of the top scientists in cancer research, also suggested that many lesions detected during breast, prostate, thyroid, lung and other cancer screenings should not be called cancer at all but should instead be reclassified as IDLE conditions, which stands for “indolent lesions of
