Obama´s Fiscal Cliff Irresponsibility
Bloomberg, by Josh Barro

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 12/4/2012 1:50:16 PM

After the Republicans´ counteroffer on the fiscal cliff today, ABC´s Jake Tapper tweeted a response from a senior White House official: "if GOP doesnt agree to higher rates for top 2%, we´ll go over the cliff and the American people will hold them responsible." This is a hugely irresponsible threat from President Barack Obama´s administration. As Ezra Klein puts it, the fiscal cliff is really an "austerity crisis" -- without congressional action, automatic forces will bring too much fiscal austerity, too fast. So why is President Obama threatening to block any solution to the austerity

Comments:
0bama is always wreckless and irresponsible. So what´s new. Nothing will make him change from the Marxist political hack that he is.

Let´s compromise and out a 100% tax on Warren Buffet and Beyonce. Keep all the other rates as is for two years and let the Dems run on a platform of higher taxes in 2012.

Obama wins if he can trick the GOP into agreeing to increase taxes on wage brackets separately. in a similar vein, he wins if deduction get limited based on income. He can´t do that in a wide open Congressional debate. But he can do it in closed door negotiations. Tell them that the GOP will defend everyone from higher taxes, or raise them for all, but not let individuals be thrown to the howling wolves.

[[[The fiscal cliff discussions should be heading in the direction Matt Yglesias laid out last week: Obama should cave on his tax demand and Republicans on their austerity demands, leading to the minimum possible amount of austerity in 2013.]]]

This is another *good enough* solution. But if it doesn´t happen and if the pubbies can´t get a good deal with substantive cuts NOW - then the fiscal cliff and real tax reform after the New Year are the best plan.

The fiscal cliff is what happens to a country that has been living beyond its means, and the damage it is going to do is going to happen most to citizens who have been living beyond their means, and that is a liberal, more than a conservative, trait. Happy trails, Libs.

Here´s the latest: Obama drives us over the fiscal cliff. In early January, he demands that Congress roll back the tax increases on 98% of taxpayers. Obama gets his tax increase on the upper 2%, with NO spending cuts!
So...I hope Speaker Boehner has the gravitas for more brinksmanship--Congress won´t do roll back taxes without spending decreases.

#5 That´s exactly what I have been thinking he is planning. That way, it gets labeled the "Obama Tax Cuts", his ego gets a boost, and he gets what he wants while demonizing Republicans.

Remember, during the debates, he stated he liked the term Obamacare. Of course he does, it further immortalizes him. He is probably tired of hearing "Bush Tax Cuts".

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Thursday that President Obama is the least partisan president she has worked with during her extensive time in Washington, and said the problem lies with the GOP. “This is as non-partisan a president as I’ve ever served with,” the California Democrat said at her weekly press briefing. She was asked whether she believes Mr. Obama would be able to work with Republicans if they were able to take control of the Senate and hold the House this November. She said when Democrats held both chambers under President George W. Bush in 2007-2008 she and her troops were

Authorities in Washington State believe that a series of murders of prostitutes in 1990 were committed by Washington resident Douglas Perry. Now Perry has been captured and charged with the murders, but Douglas has become "Donna," a transgender woman who claims that she is not responsible for the murders because Douglas no longer exists. Donna´s novel defense is that as a male she was prone to violence so she had gender reassignment surgery in Thailand a few years ago in order to purge herself of those violent tendencies. According to a local CBS Arizona affiliate, President Obama and his team have 3 tactics to make sure reporters stick to the 4 minutes the White House has allotted them to interview the leader of the world: a countdown clock, a looming aide, and they have to conduct the interview with the president while standing up. One CBS anchor called the measures "a little ridiculous." "We immediately launched into our interview because there was a person standing behind him actually counting down to the four minutes. Fred Phelps, the recently-excommunicated founder of the much-loathed Westboro Baptist Church, died Thursday at the age of 84. Phelps and his Topeka, Kansas-based church made their name by holding anti-gay demonstrations at the funerals of military service members, whom they believed had been killed as god’s punishment for the U.S.’s tolerance of homosexuality. The protests, which often featured signs blaring “God Hates F***s,” were so noxious that bikers began showing up by the hundreds to block them. They eventually inspired numerous states to pass changes in laws governing demonstrations at funerals. RELATED: NY Satanic Temple Wants to Posthumously Make Fred Phelps Gay The

Health industry officials say ObamaCare-related premiums will double in some parts of the country, countering claims recently made by the administration. The expected rate hikes will be announced in the coming months amid an intense election year, when control of the Senate is up for grabs. The sticker shock would likely bolster the GOP’s prospects in November and hamper ObamaCare insurance enrollment efforts in 2015. The industry complaints come less than a week after Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius sought to downplay concerns about rising premiums in the healthcare sector. She told lawmakers rates would increase in 2015 but
