Obama Says Boehner’s Fiscal Cliff
Plan Doesn’t Go Far Enough

Bloomberg News, by Julianna Goldman &Julie Hirschfeld Davis

President Barack Obama said in a Bloomberg Television interview that a Republican offer on averting the so-called fiscal cliff doesn’t go far enough and won’t raise the revenue needed to shrink the deficit by $4 trillion over the next decade. “We have the potential of getting a deal done,” Obama said at the White House today in his first television interview since winning re-election. “Unfortunately,” he said, House Speaker John Boehner’s proposal “right now is still out of balance.” The primary obstacle to a compromise is Republicans’ refusal to raise marginal

Comments:
Of course this is what that skinny socialist would say. Nothing is ever mentioned about the tax rates going up because of 0bamacare in addition to what is going on here. This is an unmitigated disaster. Have your blood pressure meds handy when you watch the video. I´m sick of hearing about his "balanced" approach. That simply means taking all the money from the rich and giving it to others.

To get the message thru, we need a credible GOPer to go on morning, late night & Sunday shows... as well as Comedy Central.

All they have to do is demonstrate how taxing the rich doesn´t put a dent in the problem.... therefore Obama is brushing off real reform.

The Payroll Holiday and the Bush Tax Rates are going to go away. That´s 427 billion in revenue that is coming soon, currently Jan 1. Only 42 billion is from the rich. Tell him that since he is getting 427 in new revenue in 2013 alone, he will need to increase the cuts beyond the Sequestor to match the new revenue. He best go back to his line by line examination of expenditures because the trillion dollars of Sequestor is an estimate over 10 years. That still leaves 327 billion in cuts to be identified.

First things first. Open door meetings. On C-Span. Let the people see who´s serious and who´s playing politics in real time. Not after-the-fact through some Obama-shill media outlet.

It is almost unbelievable that Al Franken, a washed-up former comedian and reformed (I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt) coke-head with serious anger management issues, was elected to the Senate in 2008 from Minnesota, a state he hadn’t lived in for several decades. (“Elected” despite the fact that he almost certainly received fewer legal votes than Norm Coleman.) It is even more unbelievable that Franken stands an excellent chance of being re-elected next year, only because there is no strong Republican candidate on the horizon. Still, Franken isn’t taking any chances, given his mediocre approval ratings and the

Four U.S. military personnel are being held by the Libyan government, a senior U.S. Defense Department official told CNN on Friday. The four are believed to have been detained by the ministry of the interior, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity. It was not immediately known why the American personnel were being held. "We are seeking to further ascertain the facts and ensure their release," said the official. The four were in Libya "augmenting security at the U.S. Embassy in Tripoli," the official said.

The TSA is well-known for being too aggressive in its body searches, so it shouldn’t be surprising in the Obama years that the TSA has a web page titled “Transgender Travelers: Special Considerations.” “TSA recognizes the concerns members of the transgender community may have with undergoing the security screening process at our Nation’s airports and is committed to conducting screening in a dignified and respectful manner,” they promise. First, they reasonably suggest that your birth date, name, and gender on your reservation match your government ID (“Cisgender oppressors!”) Making Reservations: Secure Flight requires airlines to collect a traveler’s full name,

The A&E Network announced Friday it would resume filming “Duck Dynasty” with Phil Robertson and the rest of his family next spring. Robertson had been indefinitely suspended by the network for comments he made about homosexuality in an interview with GQ Magazine. In a statement released late Friday afternoon, A&E said, “While Phil´s comments made in the interview reflect his personal views based on his own beliefs, and his own personal journey, he and his family have publicly stated they regret the "coarse language" he used and the misinterpretation of his core beliefs based only on the article. Covered with tinsel, kitsch baubles and with a frizzy, unkempt hemline that sheds pine-needles everywhere, the humble Christmas tree is just ‘so last year’. That, it seems, is the verdict of Anna Wintour, the Vogue editor-in-chief whose love of sharp lines and clean spaces has caused her to throw out the family Christmas tree this year, even before the festivities had begun. “My mom threw out our tree before Christmas Day because ‘it was too messy’”, wrote her 26-year-old daughter, Bee Shaffer, posting a picture online of a lonely collection of presents piled against a wall where a tree had once stood.

NEW YORK — A federal judge on Friday found that the National Security Agency’s bulk collection of millions of Americans’ telephone records is legal and a valuable part of the nation’s arsenal to counter the threat of terrorism. In ruling, the judge noted the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and how the phone data-collection system could have helped investigators connect the dots before the attacks occurred. “The government learned from its mistake and

If a panic button existed in the offices of vulnerable Democrats in Congress right now, they might be pressing it so often it wouldn’t have time to reset. A new CNN poll this week found that support for Obamacare is down to an all-time low of 35 percent. That helps explain the dramatic partisan reversal in another question CNN asked — about which party respondents would vote for in their congressional district. Two months ago, Democrats had a 50–42 percent lead on that critical “generic ballot” question. Now, Republicans have taken a 49–44 lead. Other private polls taken in the

When Barack Obama rose to national prominence following his 2004 keynote address at the Democratic National Convention, his African-American heritage was a footnote to the fawning reception he received from the media and from most Americans. While the speech was not a case study in brilliant oratory, Illinois State Senator Barack Obama exuded charisma and eloquently discussed an appealing if not particularly original theme of unity and bipartisanship.
