Armey´s words are pretty harsh. He believes he has good reasons to quite and perhaps he does. The Tea Party has been a little too quiet these days to suit me.
Armey says it´s about "how they do business", not what they do. That´s code for something. We´ll find out eventually.

Forget the scattered groups claiming the Tea Party title. The tea party movement´s beauty is that it has no leaders and no organization, but a common goal of fiscal responsibility and smaller government.
Dick Armey was my congressman in his early days and he was a good one. He lost most of us, though, to redistricting and then the final coffin nail was when he attempted to pass his "crown" to his son. North Central Texas is not Chicago or Harlem. We resent such tactics and the Armey son was soundly defeated.

I was at the Tea Party rally in DC that I believe was originally organized by Dick Armey. Combined with the Tea Party Express it was a fantastic event with some really great people. It let millions of people believe that they could be heard. It was a great moment for America.
While composed primarily of conservatives there was almost no mention of abortion or gay marriage. I´ve never seen any sign of racism. By not having a national leader the press (yes MSM) was able to foster a racist straw man as the Tea Party and that has pretty much suppressed the outward reach of the Tea Party. Sad to see Dick Armey go.

Frankly, I have long since been disgusted with the legions of political opportunists and entrepreneurs of no partcular belief who, seeing the spontaneous rise of the Tea Party, hijacked the movement, claiming they represented the Tea Party. Tea Party Express, Tea Party Patriots, Freedom Works, whatever. They have made tons of money, lots of noise, and have gotten lots of facetime on TV and on the Net, with little to show for it I notice. They are a five-input, one output machine.
I suspect that while Armey declines to state his differences with Freedom Works, his disaffection is probably something along these lines.

There isn´t any "Tea Party" in the sense of a Republican Party or a Democrat Party. There is no organization. The Tea Party is just a bunch of folks who are fed up with the way the country is being run.
Just not fed up enough to show up on November 6...

The TEA Party started out great...then was hijacked by the anti- abortion, anti-gay and all the anti everything people... the media loved it...I am as anti-abortion as the next person ..but look what it got us in MO and Indiana.. They figured out all they had to do is say I am anti-abortion and ..shazam.. they were the TEA Party choice.
I for one am tired of the conservatives being defined as all about abortion... religion birth control... The media has a field day with it and we have fools that talk about rape as if it is a passing thing...Until we get on issues above the waistline we will continue to loose.
Look where we are now... we are at the mercy of the Muslim loving thug in the WH and a bunch of cowardly Repubs in Congress.. God help us.

The main force behind the contract for America is a rino?, pretty soon Reagen will be a rino. I agree with # 11, I´m pro life, but I also believe the religious right has hurt our cause. The tea party started out as a movement for limited government, but was hi-jacked by religious crazes.(and no, I am not saying religious people are crazy, I´m referring to the zealots) I voted for Reagen in 1980, he was pro life, that´s as far as it went, his message was libertarian.

The real enemy is power mad people..of all stripes. Anyone who wants to lead had best be ready to come clean about their agenda. There is only a few men or women I trust who have name recognition: DeMint, Palin and maybe Alan West. Until those three join together to announce a plan for the war against our enemies I will not listen to one poster, pundit, politician, writer..no one. With Breitbart gone there is no one in media I trust. All are weak, seeking aclaim, and self serving...Mark Levin and Rush might be steadfast...but am waiting. Never will one penny go to RNC. And, if Newt tries to hitch his wagon to any group I am out. He is self serving and has turned hen pecked.

It seems very odd that President Obama has made gun control the signature issue of his second term, so far. He can’t possibly achieve any significant legislation; a few tweaks to the background check system, maybe, but there is no chance of getting any meaningful gun control through the House. The House Democrats aren’t even trying. So it also seems strange that all eyes are on the Senate, where Harry Reid will unveil some sort of gun legislation–no one knows what, exactly–on Thursday. The party’s left-wing base is lining up behind the bill, sight unseen.

NATIONAL HARBOR, Md.--The Navy´s top officer unveiled new technology Monday that allows ships to shoot down drones or other vehicles for about the cost of a pack of gum. The USS Dewey tested an onboard laser weapons system in July 2012, in which it successfully shot down a test drone. Navy Adm. Jonathan Greenert, the chief of Naval Operations, screened video of the event while speaking at the Sea-Air-Space expo. The Laser Weapon System or LaWS only costs roughly $1 per shot and could be employed against fast attack ships or even be used in the future for missile defense.

A New York judge yesterday blasted federal “sequestration” cuts, calling it “stunning” that they could force him to delay the start of a terrorism trial for Osama bin Laden’s son-in-law. Manhattan federal Judge Lewis Kaplan appeared flabbergasted when a defense lawyer for Sulaiman Abu Ghaith said mandatory work furloughs would make it “very difficult to be ready” for trial by September. Kaplan began calling the situation “ironic” before noting that was “not exactly the right word.” “It’s extremely troublesome to contemplate the possibility of a case of this nature being delayed by sequestration,” Kaplan said.

Over the weekend, the Saddleback Valley Community Church announced the sad news that Pastor Rick Warren‘s youngest son, Matthew, committed suicide at the age of 27, after a long struggle with mental illness. On Monday, Megyn Kelly‘s panel took on some of the “despicable” reaction that followed — questioning why the pastor isn’t afforded basic compassion by some of his critics. Noting the “shocking” and “disgusting” vitriol directed at the pastor following the news, Kelly declined to “give a voice to the haters.” Father Jonathan Morris, a Fox News contributor, agreed, deeming the attacks “ridiculous,” “tasteless,” and simply “very sad.”

In the message he issued along with his budget proposal on Wednesday morning, President Barack Obama said he wants to see 4-year-old children in the United States enrolled in public schools. Obama said America needs to start enrolling 4-year-olds to make sure the children are “better prepared for the demands of the global economy” and to help parents save on "child-care costs." A new CNN/ORC International poll found President Obama´s overall approval rating has ticked up to 51 percent but ratings have fallen on his handling of the key issues on his agenda: immigration, guns, and the deficit. Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius conceded Monday that implementing the Affordable Care Act has been more complicated and frustrating than the Obama administration expected, largely due to Republicans who have opposed the law´s state-based exchanges and Medicaid expansion. In a stunning end to one of the most aggressively unsuccessful tenures in retail history, JCPenney (JCP) last night announced that CEO Ron Johnson would be leaving effective immediately. Myron Ullman, Johnson´s predecessor at JCPenney, takes office as CEO. When Johnson was initially wooed by JCPenney, it was to serve as CEO with Ullman as Chairman. In January 2012, Ullman was unceremoniously removed from the board. Gone with Ullman was any control the Board of Directors had over Ron Johnson and his control of JCPenney resources.
