| Filibuster “reform” — intermittently called, over the last decade or so, the “nuclear option” — is something of a moving target. We have consistently maintained that a majority of the Senate may constitutionally curtail the filibuster or leave it as it is. But particular exercises of that power may be deeply unwise or even obnoxious. So it is in the case of the current Democratic initiative. Details remain murky, but it appears that Harry Reid intends to force the minority to mount a “talking filibuster” on cloture votes, meaning dissenting senators will have to physically occupy

During this last year in the run up to the election, I was in several discussions with liberals. When you start quoting facts and figures, their reply is to yell at you "just shut up". Reid is executing the liberals´ argument for the liberal agenda. JUST....SHUT....UP.

And I think the only thing the GOP wanted to change was the use of filibusters to select judges.

Dingy Harry seems to forget that this can be used against the dems as soon as the pubs get control. A similar thing happened in Massachusetts, where a dem legislature passed a law requiring a special election rather than let a pub governor choose a replacement for senator, on the speculation that one of the dems was going to be appointed to the cabinet. (Didn´t happen.) It bit them in the butt when Scott Brown was elected. Could happen in this case, too.

I predict that Senator McCain will once again side with the Democrats on this issue just as he always has in the past and it will happen in some sort of form. Anything to screw the Republicans and get the msm loving him again. After all his daughter has threatened to leave the party if it didn´t become more progressive.

President Obama likes pretending he floats above politics. In fact, he is the most compulsively partisan president in modern times. Everything he says and does is better understood through a partisan lens. So consider the recent Washington Post article in which Scott Wilson and Philip Rucker reported Mr. Obama wants to "cement his legacy" by working "to flip the Republican-held House back to Democratic control" so he can then "push forward with a progressive agenda on gun control, immigration, climate change and the economy during his final two years in office."

Denver-based CNN journalist Jim Spellman says the total lack of media coverage of the legal travails faced by Fox News reporter Jana Winter for protecting her sources clearly demonstrates an anti-Fox News bias in the press. Obama will release his budget this week, and we already know that he´s going to try to stake out a treacherous "middleground" as he attempts to cast himself as a bold centrist, willing to stand apart from leftist Democrats.
