Kurtz, Panelists Worry About
Fate of CNN, ‘Last Bastion
of Television Journalism’

NewsBusters, by Randy Hall

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 12/3/2012 10:01:16 PM

Now that former NBC News president Jeff Zucker is set to take over as president of CNN, the fate of the cable news network is an open question. In a Sunday discussion about the transition, CNN media critic Howard Kurtz and his guests passed over the network´s left-of-center reporting, implying instead that CNN is somehow devoid of bias compared to its primary competitors, MSNBC and Fox News. During a segment on “Reliable Sources,” panelist David Zurawik -- media critic for the Baltimore Sun newspaper -- asserted that the news organization is “the nation´s last bastion of television journalism.”

Comments:
No wonder the media is so screwed up with twisted minds like this in "journalism." I read somewhere that Zucker was the one who hired David Gregory. That should tell you all you need to know.

CNN is a global network. They know their ratings in the U.S. stink but they do not care. Their purpose is to denigrate the U.S. from `without`. Just as the Arabs teach their children from birth to hate the Jews, CNN teaches their worldwide audience to hate the U.S.

Note to Randy Hall: There´s a big difference between "left of center reporting" and "Kool-Aide-gulping, water-carrying, in-the-tank propaganda tool." I think.

#3: maybe they don´t know what "bastion" means? "Journalism" certainly doesn´t mean a field with a lot of people to whom language matters.

Back in the 24 hour Headline News days, you could depend upon it for the news. Now it is a bunch of has-beens with dull talk shows. Go back to what made you great and you might have an audience again.

The last bastion of television journalism? Is this a joke?

Reply 11 - Posted by: Spidey, 12/4/2012 5:29:28 AM     (No. 9047282)

It really doesn´t sink in with these people why they continue to lose audience share. Rearranging the deck chairs with a different person of the liberal belief system won´t change a thing. They don´t want to copy Fox´smodel which really does try to present both sides on just about all their presentations.

One of the biggest sins of left wing journalism is omitting things that are a bad reflection on Obama. Barely any major network coverage of the Sandy aftermath. So people are left with the impression that Obama said no red tape,so that must be what´s happening. Bush did a much better job with Katrina than Obama could dream of with this storm but he´ll never get credit.

This is the main reason Fox looks biased, simply reporting things the other networks ignore.

Sorry folks, CNN, PMSNBC, NBS, ABS, CBS are not about "Journalism", they are all about the Lib agenda and pushing same. Truth? We don´t need no stinkin´ truth, we have Dimocraps!

Tamra Varebrook’s 8th-grade daughter came home recently with an assignment on liberalism versus conservatism that shocked and angered her because of how it characterized one of the political ideologies. “I looked at it, and reading the description of ‘conservatism’ being that we are the party that wants to restrict all personal freedoms struck me as pretty much incorrect,” she said. Varebrook immediately called the school district in their town of Union Grove, Wisc., and they apologized, saying that the definition was completely wrong.

Even as the mandated sequester bites into U.S. federal spending -- and newly appointed Secretary of State John Kerry boasts that he is cutting his budget by 6 percent -- the State Department is planning to boost spending on the United Nations in 2014 by more than 4 percent to at least $3.6 billion. That is likely to be far from the final tally of Obama Administration support, as hundreds of millions of dollars in U.S. development, health and other funds are usually channeled through U.N. agencies and institutions --

Students were asked to watch and read Nazi propaganda, then pretend their teacher was a Nazi government official who needed to be convinced of their loyalty. On Thursday, in the midst of ongoing national debate over prospective gun control and comprehensive immigration legislation, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) said that he didn’t need the approval of a majority of his own party to move forward with legislation. Referring to the so-called Hastert Rule, named after former House Speaker Denny Hastert (R-IL), which dictated that House leadership not bring up any bill for a vote without the support of a majority of the majority party, Boehner said, “Listen: It was never a rule to begin with.” Then, realizing the gravity of admitting

The April 11 episode featured a pair of gunshots heard in the school, forcing students to run for cover, text notes to their loved ones and even record short video statements in case they didn´t survive.

Two congressional Republicans want to end, once and for all, the attempts of atheist groups and others to remove religious symbols from war memorials. Rep. Duncan Hunter of California and Sen. Richard Burr of North Carolina on Thursday introduced the “War Memorial Protection Act,” which they say will create a “foundation in federal law” for public veterans’ and war memorials that include crosses or similar items. “It is our duty to honor our veterans and their families, and American military memorials around the world stand as testaments to their sacrifice,” Mr. Burr said in a statement.

President Obama’s budget doesn’t just go after wealthy Americans. It’s also got new taxes on vodka, cigarettes and other unexpected items, ABC News reported. The fiscal 2014 spending plan, which looks to raise about $1.8 trillion in new revenue, also tackles golf courses, which can no longer be counted as partial tax write-offs, according to ABC. The budget also eliminates special tax breaks for flavored alcohols. In a bizarre tax loophole, distillers are able to deduct up to 2.5 percent of alcohol in flavor mixes from spirit taxes, ABC said. Buried deep in President Obama´s Fiscal Year 2014 budget is a new mandate requiring the states to include parental visitation arrangements in child support orders, the same way custody arrangements are typically settled in divorce cases. The goal is to give noncustodial parents more time with the children who do not live with them. "Recognizing that healthy families need more than just financial support alone, the proposal requires states to include parenting time provisions in initial child support orders," says the budget justification for the Department of Health and Human Services. ("Parenting time" is government-speak for "visitation.")

Marco Rubio is preparing to go all in to support sweeping immigration legislation, offering himself up as the public face of a bill that will split the Republican Party — but that his allies hope will propel him to the front of the GOP presidential sweepstakes. After offering lukewarm support until now, Rubio is preparing to fully embrace a measure that is the most significant of his political career so far. The gambit could pay off in spades by crowning a leading presidential contender in 2016, or it could permanently damage the Republican’s brand with conservatives.

LOUISVILLE, Ky.-- The mystery of "Watterson-Gate" may now be revealed. A Jefferson County Democratic Party official alleged Thursday that two men affiliated with the liberal SuperPAC Progress Kentucky, Shawn Reilly and Curtis Morrison, bragged about secretly recording a private McConnell campaign meeting on February 2. "Why they did it, I didn´t know anything like that. They just got overwhelmed and recorded it," said Jacob Conway, a member of the Jefferson County Democratic Party Executive Committee. "Mr. Reilly is completely innocent of any criminal wrongdoing," countered Ted Shouse, Reilly´s attorney.

In the message he issued along with his budget proposal on Wednesday morning, President Barack Obama said he wants to see 4-year-old children in the United States enrolled in public schools. Obama said America needs to start enrolling 4-year-olds to make sure the children are “better prepared for the demands of the global economy” and to help parents save on "child-care costs." After saying the United States needs to “equip our citizens with the skills and training” to fill jobs in manufacturing, energy and infrastructure, Obama said, “And that has to start at the earliest possible age.”

Only one of my six children has left New York for economic reasons but the strain of living in this expensive nanny state is weighing heavy on my other five and their families. As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.
